Wow I have been playing off and on since the begining (open beta too). I wounder If we can get Kate Mulgrew to do Vice Admiral Janway. She is probably the Starfleet Admiral by now!
Hey Cryptic, just contact Netflix to find her. She is currently doing time in prison in the Netflix orginal series Orange is The New Black. Not her, just her character.
Empress Sela, was assimulated by the Borg drone named Tasa Yar!
She was an Admiral in Nemesis 30 years ago in this timeline.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Getting some of the Captains would be keen. But considering the salaries they command just to appear at a con for a couple of hours, I'd be surprised Cryptic could afford any of them.
it also breaks immersion for the game if we keep bringing back characters that were supposta die 30 before our timeline - they should stay focused on getting actors who's characters would still be alive in our timeline
Some of you guys forget, that ADM Janeway led a team that studied the Hobus Event and commanded the Excalibur-class, USS Tucker, just before the game starts according to the STO novel, The Needs of the Many.

.... most humans in the star trek universe can live to about 130-150. many characters from the shows could still be alive in 2409. Admiral Leonard McCoy was 137 years old at the start of TNG In 2364, he was born in 2227.

Except she is not dead in this story/timeline and would be about 70-80 odd, which for a human in the 24th century is not that old.
Even Captain Picard would still be alive. He is probabky an old retired grape farmer by now.
Both the final episodes of Next Gen and Voy take place around the same time as STO. Therefore anyone from the cast of any series apart from ENT and TOS is fair game (and for those left out you can easily accommodate the talent with new roles. George Takei as an Iconian anyone? )
Bipedal mammal and senior Foundry author.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
Bring Janeway back? Only if I get to ***** her out onscreen for being a hypocritical psychopath, and take part in her court-martial, dishonorable discharge from Starfleet, and incarceration at Facility 4028 for flagrant violations of multiple Starfleet regulations. Trek Nation saved me the trouble of gathering the list of charges years ago. They include one count of attempted murder of a prisoner, a half-dozen Prime Directive violations including the Temporal Prime Directive, nine counts of dereliction of duty, and at least three counts of violation of standing Starfleet orders regarding the Borg (they actually missed one). (I'm not going to say I agree with everything they came up with, but most of it sticks.)
Even Captain Picard would still be alive. He is probabky an old retired grape farmer by now.
Probably, nothing. He's retired and living in France as of 2409.

Federation President Janeway won in a close race after her campaign theme of "Going Home Again" proved to be popular with Federation voters. ;-)
I've teased that I'd love it if Riker became president because I could see it as a real development of his character into something new, military people are popular (especially following wars), he has the respect of some Klingons (having served in the officer exchange), and I almost think it's time for a human president again, especially with a non-human Enterprise Captain. (It would also be the kind of role where Frakes could reappear but wouldn't have to and would break up the whole "everyone is an admiral" monotony.)
But I'd love the reaction to Janeway being Federation President.

Since he was Ambassador to vulcan, I'm sure theres plenty of room to bring him into the STO story somewhere, he does feature in the Path to 2409 i think , alongside Spock in regards to the Hobus supernova
These are the Voyages on the STO forum, the final frontier. Our continuing mission: to explore Pretentious Posts, to seek out new Overreactions and Misinformation , to boldly experience Cynicism like no man has before.......

Either that or make Okeg's Character more involved , i understand that hes a politician and not a starfleet officer, So we're unlikely to have direct interaction with our player characters, But at least Mention him a little more in the storyline cryptic ! i mean he's the president so he's supposed to be doing something important right?

voice over, fine, but cryptic would need to create a storyline for her, one where she causes trouble (reckless beyond reason as she is most of the time) wth no intention of cleaning up her mess. thats gonna be a challenge to the sto story maker and foundry map maker
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
This describes every Captain in a Trek series. That's what makes them great.
Yes, but Janeway's the only one who got away scot free with what in real life is a death penalty offense. What she did in "Scorpion" is called "aiding the enemy". Starfleet is based heavily on real life militaries, particularly the US Navy, and U.S. Code section 904 - Art. 104 has the following to say about what she got up to:
Any person who --
(1) aids, or attempts to aid, the enemy with arms, ammunition, supplies, money, or other things; or
(2) without proper authority, knowingly harbors or protects or gives intelligence to, or communicates or corresponds with or holds any intercourse with the enemy, either directly or indirectly;
shall suffer death or such other punishment as a court-martial or military commission may direct. This section does not apply to a military commission established under chapter 47A of this title.
Janeway's actions in "Scorpion" fall squarely in the purview of condition two, and Chakotay should have relieved Janeway of command and thrown her into the brig right there instead of mildly protesting and then going along with it, which makes him and the entire command staff of Voyager accessories, including Tuvok. But then they'd have had to come up with another way to bring ****ing Seven of TRIBBLE aboard.
Now do you see why I hate Janeway? If Starfleet Internal Affairs or JAG were even remotely competent (which, as we saw in DS9: "Rules of Engagement", the latter is about as competent as anyone else in Starfleet's brass), they would have clapped her in irons the moment she got within reach.

Kind of hard to enforce those rules when you're in the middle of nowhere. By then they were desperate and out of options. Chakotay was Maquis. They understand breaking the law to do what's necessary to survive. Which is why he went with it.
That's bull**** and you know it. Especially by that point, Voyager was doing just ****ing fine for a ship cut off from Starfleet's infrastructure, as Captain Ransom pointed out later. What's good for the goose is good for the gander: If it's obligatory to enforce the rules on Ransom for powering his ship with sapient life-forms because his ship is on its last legs, it's obligatory to enforce the rules on Janeway for intentionally aiding and abetting a known enemy of every thinking creature in the galaxy for no good reason at all.
But no, Janeway's our wonderful protagonist and can do no wrong! /sarcasm
I want to see the clone of Kahless come back dammit!
He's in the Fek'lhri arc KDF-side.

I'm sure there are lots of people who would come in and do voice-over work. It's easy money and VO work can be done in a day. If SAG dues are anything like ACTRA dues, they would have to pay them every year whether they are getting work or not.
With tech the way it is today, they wouldn't even need to be on site....they could go to a studio where they live and record it, taking direction via Skype or something similar.
Johnathan Frakes would be cool....maybe not as Riker, but as his duplicate Thomas? The JJ Abrams re-envisioning makes these tricky conditions to circumnavigate in order to make everyone happy. They could do a storyline with Brent Spiner in the role of Lor (maybe Cryptic could revamp the Crystalline encounter?)
The possibilities are limited only by the compensation actors would be willing to accept. They could even write a timeline story and hire George Takei. VO work might be a bit more attractive to some of them over a Con appearance. They can do it where they live, not have to worry about getting on a plane and leaving their families for several days....etc etc.

IIRC Thomas is confirmed dead in the Cardassian arc.
"Great War! / And I cannot take more! / Great tour! / I keep on marching on / I play the great score / There will be no encore / Great War! / The War to End All Wars"

No, its not. The premise of the series was to test the values of the Federation when it became necessary to do what you must to survive.
The premise of the series was discarded within the first few episodes in favor of Neelix's stupidity, status quo is God, abuse of technobabble, liberal use of the reset button with a magically self-repairing ship, and complete bull**** plots out the wazoo.
There were plenty of top captains that went past the rules to do what was necessary. Picard and Kirk could have been thrown under the bus multiple times for violating rules. Kirk was actually demoted instead of discharged.
Going past the rules wasn't necessary, and the rule Janeway chose to break carries the same penalty as treason. A sensible script would've had Janeway pointing and laughing at troubles that the Borg brought on themselves because, once again, they're the natural enemies of every thinking creature in the galaxy, and asking for the Undine leader's phone number because he sounds like a good guy to form an alliance with against the natural enemies of every thinking creature in the galaxy.
Instead, she aids the enemy, which is a crime far beyond anything any of the other captains ever committed (although Picard's negligent genocide using the Prime Directive as a shield comes close), and gets off scot free because she's our wonderful protagonist who can do no wrong.

The Undine were going to cleanse the entire galaxy of life. Which one would you rather deal with, a known enemy that you have a chance to fight or a superior unknown enemy? Species 8472 were kicking Borg TRIBBLE and taking names and in superior numbers. If they could do that, imagine how long the Alpha Quadrant would last.
And did you notice that when somebody had the brilliant idea to use these nifty things called words with 8472, they quite happily went back home and stayed there until (STO canon) the Iconians stirred them up and framed the Alpha Quadrant for it?
Whereas the Borg, being the natural enemies of every thinking being in the galaxy, immediately turned on Voyager the moment they had the upper hand against 8472 thanks to Janeway's unconscionable decision to aid the enemy. If Chakotay's prepared countermeasure hadn't worked Janeway would've had only herself to blame for getting turned into a drone and handing a mostly intact copy of a Federation starship and all the intelligence on Starfleet it contained to the natural enemies of every thinking being in the galaxy.

I tend to agree - thus far I've been pretty happy with the choices though
Spock (ignoring last time we know he was in a different universe)
SpoQuinto (as a different character altogether)
Worf (Klingons are quite long lived as proved by Kang, Kor and Koloth in DS9)
Tuvok (Again Long lived)
Chase Masterson (playing a hologram of her character)
I'm sure I'm forgetting some there? But still so far, so good.
And this refutes my argument, why, exactly? You don't have to have malice for someone to be their enemy. For all we know assimilation is the Borg Queen's equivalent of making mad passionate love to her victims.
But you still wouldn't want it to happen to you or anyone else, making them the natural enemy of every thinking creature in the galaxy.
Plus, they already had intel on the Federation after the assimilation of the Hansons and Picard becoming Locutus. At the most, they would have had the planets and systems that Voyager visited already. But then again, they never fully recovered after Future Janeway heavily crippled them.
The Hansens were civilians, and ridiculed civilians at that, and any data they might have had on Starfleet that was of strategic importance was 18 years out of date. Any intel they'd gained from Picard was seven years old. Voyager getting assimilated would have handed them data three years newer than anything they'd gotten from Picard, and they would've only had what Picard personally knew about Starfleet's operations, not an entire starship's memory bank full of classified data.
