Romulan Republic Uniform bug

edited October 2014 in PC Gameplay Bug Reports
I tried to rename one of my bridge officers uniforms and it said "invalid parts", I clicked modify and noticed that even without changing anything, it wanted 550 zen. After a little experimenting it seems that the Romulan Republic 1 and 2 uniforms require me to pay zen and because I have less than the 550 zen, it won't let me use them. The problem is that these uniforms are not zen store items and are made available in the tailor as part of the Romulan storyline free of charge (except for the usual energy credit charge for changing outfits).

This now prevents me from using either Romulan Republic uniforms and I cannot alter any outfits on my crew as it will force me to use something else.

The tailor I used was the one on New Romulus Command Centre and I was using my tactical officer Romulan T'Lara@Zebramanii

I mainly tested the two Romulan uniforms so others may be effected.

I have switched around parts of the Romulan Republic uniform on the Tailor, I have found out the it is the Upper option Romulan Republic one and two under the category selection Lose Jacket that costs 550 Zen. The remaining parts of the Ronluan Republic uniform can be selected with out having it cost 550 Zen.

I am also experiencing this problem and also tracked it down to the Romulan Republic 1 & 2 and Romulan Federation 1 & 2 options. As the account I tried it on has no Zen at the moment I don't know if I would be charged the Zen for making the changes.

I found that meself with my Fed Romulan female. It appears to be trying to purchase the Troi uniform for some reason.

Having the same issue on my female rom science officer. Very frustrating. It would be nice to hear from the devs if they're looking into this issue or not.

Ditto with Rom Republic 1 & 2 on female boffs -only- (two male boffs successfully equipped / outfitted). The 550 zen charge mentioned above, is reported in-game as trying to access the Counsellor Troi outfit. Needless to say, that doesn't have any pieces within the aforementioned Romulan sets.

Looks like it's affecting Fed uniforms as well.
Linking between these threads to highlight to Cryptic that this is a bigger problem.

I may have discovered a temporary fix for this issue.

Turn off 'show unowned costume parts' and try switching after that. It seems to have cleared up the issue for me.

I've got a possibly related issue. My KDF aligned Rom, can no longer select "Romulan Klingon" uniforms, even though some of her BoFF's are already wearing it!
And she actually now has the Romulan Federation as a uniform option!

SOmething got messed up with 8.5, when they added these cross faction uniforms and armors like the Dyson Envirosuit you wear in the FE and also the new Hirogen one, I think it messed up the "permissions" or something.
Oh, hoho hohhhhh, Oh,, hoho, hohhhhh

Exact same problem. Very annoying. I hope it's a simple fix.

Thanks, I'll try that work around.

When I was altering my Romulan's outfit her Romulan Federation and Romulan Republic jackets incurred a 550zen charge. For outfits that are completely free basic outfits...that she was already wearing!! I couldn't alter her face or anything because it was reading as 550zen.

This worked for my TOS Uniform that was also trying to charge me 550 Zen, but now from her neck, down to the uniform is gone. it looks like a head floating on a uniform.

For anyone still having trouble with Romulan Republic uniforms. I have found that the zen cost applies until all your Romulan characters have chosen their KDF/FED allegiance. So my level 50 Rom was having the cost attached to it, and the lower level had the cost too, until it chose allegiance, then the cost went away for both of them. This isn't really a 'fix' for the bug, but eventually you should be able to pick the uniform.

Patch released on 2/6 does not resolve this issue, nor have I seen any acknowledgement from the devs either here in the bug forum or in the patch notes. Romulan females still unable to alter appearances when wearing either Romulan Republic (1 & 2) or Romulan Federation (1 & 2) tops due to the game attempting to charge us zen for the Counselor Troy uniform.

Bumping this thread in the hopes that this issue is at least acknowledged and, preferably, fixed.

    Edit:

Initial Unmodified - note the grey "purchase" button
Select RR1 "Upper" - note "Show Unowned" checked lower left and zen charge lower right
Uncheck "Show unowned", re-select RR1 "RR1" - note unchecked "Show unowned" lower left and no zen charge lower right
Select RR2 "Undershirt" - note "Show unowned" still unchecked lower left and lack of zen charge lower right, but chest is missing on toon center right.

Uniform Browser - do not show unowned - note unchecked "Show unowned" lower left
Uniform browser - Show unowned - note checked "Show unowned" lower left
Uniform browser - apply to character - note zen charge lower right
Purchase - when purchasing, we are prompted to purchase the Counselor Troy Uniform. Note that this particular purchase is the stock apply-to-character of the Flotilla - RR2 uniform pictured in the uniform browser.

Yes. Issue has been reported here in the forums for only a few hours less than a week and no acknowledgement from devs. Post of mine above edited to add explanatory images of the issue.

I thought I posted this earlier, but it's not showing so either it was deleted because it didn't add anything (which: fair enough and sorry for the additional post) or it didn't post properly. If the 2nd, I just wanted to say:

Thank you for letting us know that you are aware of this issue. I totally get that bug squishing takes time and it is a triage operation. I don't expect instant resolution of bugs. I simply wanted to make sure this issue was known by the dev team. Now I know. So thank you. I sincerely appreciate community communication.

I think one of the problems was the management and bugs weren't a priority until recently. The quick equip, ship loadout, along with what appears to be higher priority on making the game function as it should will take a lot of the negative aspects out of the game to make it more fun.

IMHO, since 8.5 launched, they're cracking down on bugs more and they're cataloging them in the database more as well, look at the dev tracker.

    I welcome this new change.
