With Tim Russ reprising Tuvok, does this mean the new anniversary ship could be some kind of Intrepid class refit? or possibly an updated delta flyer?

There are already images of the anniversary ships floating around and they look nothing like the Intrepid. They actually, once again, just loosely represent vessels from Star Trek, though we might look at a kind of "transmutated" state of the ships. Branflakes hinted that the ships are only "sci half the time", so they may come with a transformation gimmick.

Highlited the Important part. A superior Intrepid would be awesome.

Granted, the images floating around can be fake and I kinda still hope they are. Some sort of Intrepid (Bellerophon) Refit would indeed be nice and I would have to think about replacing the Nebula :D

The (fleet) Intrepid is great as it is, just needs a Lt. Cmdr Tac slot. I would gladly trade away that Ens. Sci slot for that. Makes little sense at all for the Fleet Nova (much as I love that little boat), a considerably smaller ship, to have LtCmdr. Tac with the capability of throwing Torp Spread 3 or the ability to channel enough power for a Beam Overload 3 while the Intrepid cannot.

Unlikely boff slots changes aside, the one thing they can do to truly show their love for Intrepid retro owners (on top of JamJamz updating the phaser strips to the quality of the ones on the Ambassador class and removing the old red pimples) is by following through on something Geko mentioned in an interview last year about making the Ablative Armor console a toggle instead of a short duration ability (meaning that you turn it on, and it stays on until either 1) you manually turn it off, or 2) you go boom). Sci tanking in a torp boat would take on a whole new meaning if they did that. ;)

Who wouldn't want to trade an ensign level ability for a LTCMDR ability? Removing an ensign ability to add +1 to a LT ability isn't equivalent. Thats why it won't happen. Even though I think the only empt boff set for sci is a LTCMDR tac.

    It's official http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=1085061

the ships seem to be science destroyers. Of course, nobody would like a non-tac ship, not even as a free gift :D

I don't like their looks, really.

Dual Heavy Proton Cannons - science destoryer ship so aux focused? wonder if these cannons use aux power as well.

design shift to make it so A2B builds get the short end of stick and move to cannons over beams?

Because of that, those ships are utterly uninteresting at least to me. I don't like that cannon-shooty-stuff. Proton beams, I'd use these on my Solanae Nebula, but cannons? Nah, I'll pass.

We have way too much carriers, starfighters and blaster cannons already.

Nope - not a vesta - but a Cruiser with science abilities.

Pictures of the three ships, each looking like they might be fed, kdf and rommy in style with definite sphere influences can be found online. The fed is definielty a cruiser or destroyer, looking a lot like a Star Cruiser

What we know so far (via numerous hints and reply's by Branflakes):

    - new game mechanics will be introduced for them
    - they are influenced by tech found in the dyson Sphere
    - they will be 'part time' science vessels

    Speculation, based on images:

    - likely new warp cores, possibly Harmonic Resonance Cores (Omega molecule powered?)
    - new shields, likely multiphasic or metaphasic

    No they don't

It looks like they took the rough lines from the Obilesk 1 and applied them to faction ships.

The romulan looks like a mini-D'deriex (I can never spell that.)

    And

    I WANT!

R'Kif Tactical Warbird with a little bit longer neck.

Klingon one is exactly the same as Mogh and the Veteran ship

Federation one is a mix of Avenger and Chimera

I don't have an Arkif so no comment.

I do have both the Mogh and the Peghqu'. And they actually don't look the same. The styling is just reminiscent of TNG klingon layouts. (IE blockier but with the longish neck and down turned warp nacelles.) This has a more layered and porcelained appearance like . . . I want to say scales or telescoping the layers.

    And hmm on the avenger/chimera.

Pah ... all the Fed ships look the same to me :D ... Especially when they just twisted debris floating in space

Seriously though, they do look pretty cool ... I wonder if they'll keep the purple accents and black/white colour schemes for all factions or if the Klinks and Rommies will get more "traditional" colour combos?

Well on that level of knowing we know more than just those few things.

In tactical form it has a 4th front weapon, proton DHCs, and a cmdr tactical (with a lt cmdr sci) in science mode it drops to a 3/3 from the 4/3 and the cmdr tac drops to lt cmdr while the lt cmdr sci becomes commander (we probably also lose the 2nd deflector stats but we shall see)

we also know it is 2 Eng 4Sci 3Tac for console slots

Hmmm ... and on the image of the Rommie Warbird at least, it shows 5 special weapon/Singularity(?) abilities, without any additional consoles ... Plus (in what looks like Tac mode = Cmdr Tac BoFF) there is a row of 4 extra weap. icons. Perhaps "charges" from a secondary deflector weapon?

So you swap between Tac and Sci modes ... I wonder what game mechanic they'll use for that? 75 minute Cool down?;) Short term "Active" countdown? Force you to choose one or the other before entering battle/map?
Oh, hoho hohhhhh, Oh,, hoho, hohhhhh

The Fed' ship reminds me of the first generation Nissan Altima, a vehicle that if you were blindfolded as you were walked up into it, was very likable, otherwise it was something that one wouldn't want to touch.
