Scheduled Maintenance (January 23, 2014) [Complete!]

Hi Captains,

We will be bringing down Star Trek Online tomorrow, Thursday, January 23rd, at 7AM PST (click here to view in your timezone) for our weekly scheduled maintenance and to apply a new patch. Patch notes can be found here, and we expect this maintenance to last for 2 hours. The test server, launcher and access to manage your account may also be unavailable during some portions of the maintenance.

    Sooooo.......that's it? Nothing else? Just the Winter stuff being taken down? Is there ANYTHING else? At all?

    Does the load screen removal include the Worf 'New Klingon Content' load screen with the free B'rolth promotion? (...which ended, what? A month ago?)

    That's it for this week. We have a huge patch planned for next week, which I hear the notes are already as long as a college essay, as that is when we'll be launching Season 8.5, including everything we've been testing on Tribble up to this post and what's still to come.

    No, but the promotion for the BoP lists an end date -- we'll see about updating it in a future patch, though.

    Kinda hoped there would be a bit more. Oh well, as long as tomorrow, upon the Day of Thor, I can get my Romulan Hyper-Plasma torpedo, I will be fine.

    BranFlakes, I seriously hope that you did some voices for season 8.5. You have a great narration voice, and a better malevolent villain voice.

    Hah! You call that an offer? I can cook him some pasta with vodka sauce, and German chopped egg pancakes (which are surprisingly addictive). And I can show him the greatest birdwatching site in New Jersey! (admittedly, it's a mosquito-infested swamp that's currently under about a foot of snow, but it IS the best birding site in the state. I got White Pelican, Pied-billed Grebe, Peregrine Falcon, and Tricolored Heron out there once)

    I think I can fly out, if the airports aren't snowed out.

    If it includes a page long of bug squashing notes (I assume by college essay you mean 3-5 pages) I don't mind reading through it. New content is great, but bug squashing is priceless.

    We have high mountains, green forrests, fresh air and wide grassland. Cooks from my land flew over to your continent to show them how it's done, so you guys can experience what "taste" really is.

    We do have..ahmm cats and dogs and.. and.. horses and sheeps and storks.
    And we get our Christmas presents on the 24th.

    But wait.. Think about this for a moment, don't you think Bran could handle us both?

    Bah! We have better mountains, more varied forests, fresher air, wider grasslands, chefs from more places, and much, MUCH cooler animals and plants.

    And we get more Christmas presents, because the commercialism is strong on this side of the pond.

    Could he handle us both??? I'm not sure. Maybe we should ask. BranFlakes, can you handle two men at once?

    Will 8.5 next week fix the flippin' "Material Files Reloaded" thing yet?

    If not, will someone wake me up when it is fixed? Because seriously, it's gone on for three months now.

    I saw that in one of the last Tribble patch notes. So there is a good chance.

    As far as I can tell, it just puts a little bar on the very bottom of the screen for a few moments, and doesn't seem to do anything else. Sounds like a pretty low priority, especially when compared with things like FAW not critting ever. Or does it do something else to your machine? (My loading speed might just be so slow I never notice any changes.)

    It does nothing but annoy me to no end. I have no reasonable justification as to my hate of the tiny bar. But my loathing of it is so great, it's been keeping me from logging in. There is no rationality about it. I just want it to go away. Very badly.
