Ahh the ability to pull gear from other ships. Thats nice; I was expecting to have to have enough gear to keep each ship separately equipped, so glad that isn't necessary.
As for the Ship Management / Loadout setup, you say that Ship Management must be done in a social zone. Does Loadout also have to be in a social zone, or is it something that can be done during an instance (so long as not in Red Alert obviously)? If the latter, that is going to be a huge buff to Raiders I think.
Raising the cap on possible ships is one thing but what about the default number of ship slots? You guys have been throwing event ships at us relentlessly and I'd prefer to not have to spend zen to get an anniversary ship that's ostensibly free.
Please tell me none of this will be possible in the middle of a pvp mission??
You kidding? That'd be the best place for it, especially with ships with lots of universal boffs. Have a DPS configuration, a healer configuration, a sci-support configuration, etc, change between respawns, counter someone's ResB shield swap by trading your disruptors for polarons, and so on.
It will allow people to 'tinker' with their set-ups and try different load outs more easily. Not only that, I've got consoles and various bits of gear stashed away on unused ships in my inventory that are long forgotten. The idea of getting easier access to this kit is a very welcome addition.
umm, were did you get a fleet ha'apax with 5 sci consoles? thats a cruiser, those have 5 eng consoles, or are supposed too.
i dont see this system working at all when the biggest part of swapping ships is retraining boffs so you have the right station powers to go with the ship you swap too. unless you have 20 boffs set of for the ships you frequent, and that costs money to unlock that many. but thats totally unfeasible for anyone who makes it a point of using high value boffs like a full set of superior romulans and reman boffs for the space traits. it was expensive enough to get 7 or 8.
what needs to come with this system is the separation of station powers and boffs. and the end of this silly captain trainable only thing, or somewhat rare skills you can only get from certain boffs.

You won't be able to swap ships unless you're in a map like sector space, Qo'noS system, etc. (non-mission/ PvP/ Event, etc. map) - you'll be able to use Load-Outs and Quick-Equip anytime you're out of combat, though, there is a small cooldown (less than a minute) that is activated in between swapping load-outs.

Thanks for the reply, but yikes is this going to make for some very loonnggg matches!!

Oh wow I didnt notice that, why does a Ha'apax Cruiser have 5 Sci consoles? Hmmm...
Anyway Im looking forward to the quick equip and saving boff abilities and doff layouts, but sadly Im probably just going to use Loadouts on one or two of my ships since I have no life and already got enough equipment for all of my ships so switching is already easy for me >.>

This is really excellent. You guys really raised the bar on this one. It's great for the community, and shows you not all about pushing new content just to make new content. I, for one, thank you for this and hope we'll see more like this (improvements to already existing systems - not just new content).
Hi. Apparently I'm new here and joined in Jun 2012. Guess I'm in good company though... seems everyone else joined then too!
It looks interesting. It is nice to see that the ships limit has increased. The only thing I wish is that lock box ships came with one free ship slot. Kinda like how traits come with a retrait token.
Glad it included doffs. The only concern I have about this system is there are times when you have a reduced number of bridge officers that need to retrain an ability when you swap layouts. Will there be plans where it gives you an option to retrain your officer if you switch?

Well, thats good news in PvP for Anti-build builds. Though with the rapid build-swapping being easier in a battle-cloak ship than any of the others, I can see some moaning happening about it.

Bran, does this new gear quick-swap system work for ground? I'd love to have this mechanic for swapping out my ground sets.
Quick swap does work for your captain and BOFFs, as mentioned in the article There are no load outs for ground, but we'll watch for feedback on the system as implemented for ships and take it into consideration.
WOW! All I can say is great work! I love all these incoming changes. I can bring many of my older ships back into use now. I also love the loadouts and able to switch while in a mission. I can't imagine having 50 ships, but hey, to each his own.

The build save sounds interesting maybe Boffs should have something similar as I use the sam boffs and it can be annoying keep on changing there skills but if we can save there build as well would make it worthwhile.

lol. I guessed it was an oversight or something
Though I was hoping that it meant we could use any ship skin over the top of any set of ship stats that the player owns i.e. running a Connie refit model over the top of the stats etc of a sovereign.

How may I thank the smart genius that made this idea up!
So useful when I want to switch different playstyles (Science to Tac)! Thanks! :P

It said non-instanced. PVP is instanced.

I like this.
