G'wan! 'Fess up! Come clean! We've all done it at least once.
Mine? Of course.
I was trying out some different things in an MU Qin. I'd wanted to try out a BFAW A2B build in a Raptor. Why? I was bored. Yeah, yeah. I already know one does not simply slap a BFAW A2B build onto a Raptor.
So I was swanning about just south of Qo'noS and the Defend Sector Space from the Borg daily popped. Pretty good group answered the call. We all went for the nearest group and my Qin was doing better than holding its own. The group mopped the floor with the first Borg fleet and was scoping the available targets for the next go.
I saw a grouping with a Tac Cube and a Cube paired up. I thought, "Why not?" and away I went. By myself. No problem. Piece of cake. Done this bunches of times. Sensibly, the rest of the group went for another single Cube grouping.
And all of you already know how this ends, don't you?

The 3 minute video that immortalized Leeroy Jenkins.
Basically, a WoW player got tired of the over-planning of his teammates, charged the battlefield screaming his character's name as a battlecry, and threw the whole bit into chaos, to the laughter of millions. Leeroy's name became synonymous with gutsy, reckless charges, usually ending in disaster.
Amazingly enough I never had such a moment in STO
I'd just started playing WoW when a coworker told me the tale and showed me the video. I was left gasping for breath from laughing so hard.
I can't point to any single standout moment in STO that is a Jenkins moment. I used to charge into battle against the Borg without realizing my bridge crew was at afternoon tea. Having failed to reload them after changing ships...awkward. Its like taking on the Borg with a pea shooter.
Recently, I've been having a few Jenkins moments during alerts when taking on the Borg with a PUG. Invariably, I'll find a group that just circles around waiting for someone to initiate the next attack. I'll pick an easy target, charge, only to end up fighting the whole cluster solo (usually with a face plant into the lower decks) because the other players suddenly went the opposite direction. This after circling for a minute.

I of course assumed they were over-reacting. Because I was in a tank, and as reasonably fresh level 50 with a basic idea of how the other STF's worked I was of course also the greatest player ever.
So I charge in confident I could survive. You can probably guess the rest...
Oh, man, I totally do that EVERY TIME!!!!!
And on Khitomer ground and Cure ground runs. Just tooooooooo much fun!
I never run in stupidly, though. That just gets the rest of the team pissed at you.
Just got my Vet destroyer and the tholian event hit. I responded and a few people showed up to. No issue. As we approach I go to hit my cloak hotkey and go full impulse instead. . . .

Was not my finest moment.......
R.I.P
There was one time I tried using my doffed repulsors to yank back a running escort - only to send him flying off in the direction he wanted to go. Turns out I forgot to remount the doff after a run of Crystalline Entity.

Yeah, not my proudest STO moment.
Did a quick rebuild on one of my toons HEC so that the 360 Antiproton wep was mounted to the rear. Nice! Now for some fun!
Everything was going well, the gens went down nicely, we all blew the transformer apart...ah ha! I see a nice bunch of spheres awaiting me!
Hit full impulse into the middle of them and hit my dispersal pattern...have a nice mine spread you pesky....borg..you .. deserve what you get...ummm...wheres my mines?
They are in my bank where I left them when fitting the 360....
Doh! Use repair pack....hit respawn....
Against some enemies, this works okay, but as I've discovered... not so okay against Rebel Gorn with Aceton Assimilators or Tholians with Web Cannons, the 'Tholian Web' or just Tractor Beams and Destabiliser Torpedos...
And yeah, I've done the Tac-Cube thing too. In my defense, I didn't realise it was a Tac-Cube until it was trashing me... I have no such explaination for the Tholian Red Alert last night where I engaged the Zlo'pauk and the rest of the capital ships and we ended up failing because we didn't get the support squadrons...
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
This was before they made them head back to their starting positions if the entire team died, so this pretty much turned into a game of coordinated simultaneous respawning.
I have an idea for what Season 11 should be; Season 11: The Big Bug Fix.
I have not been able to read my bug tickets in over a year, not even the tickets about not being able to see my tickets.
I find the drama of your signature proof of your immaturity, this means you, DR whiners.
It was glorious. I saw it before it was a thing, and it was GLORIOUS from the start.
And listening to other people while playing a game is supposed to be fun?
If i would be forced to play a game while listening to other peoples mumblings, i'd quit playing games in an instant. Hard to belive to me, that Voicechat is acepted so widely.
Btw. I didn't really get what this is all about, just by listening what those people are talking.
Thanks for description
It seems the vast majority of your most active players (forum regulars) hate the idea... and while that's a small subset of the playerbase, I think it's an important constituency.
THE PLAYERS DO NOT WANT THIS.
Playing Starbase Defense with a PUG. Spamming Delta Flyers while one of the puglets is channeling Horatio Hornblower and handing out assignments to us for this that and the other. We draw Gorns for the NPCs. Beautiful. Warp plasma for one and all and the Seige Group is one I've never had any real luck against.
Waves one and two went by in a flash and we're doing okay. Wave three spawns and one of the puglets is right in their path with little shield and hull left. He types, "Help?" in Chat.
To my everlasting embarrassment, I respond with "I'll save you! Because it's how I roll, yo!" Send the Flyers as Escorts because they'll get there quicker and go to Full Impulse to join Clobberin' Time.
Timing is key, This is the lesson I am about to learn. In my haste to be the new sheriff in town, who's name is Reggie Hammer, I run right past the NPCs into the Warp Plasma cloud they so thoughtfully provided.
This didn't kill me.
The minefields two cruisers added did.
The worst part? As we're moving out from Respawnville, the puglet I was allegedly saving typed the following in Chat - "You in the Vesta. Easiest way you can help me for the rest of this is to defect to the Gorn."
Ow. Right in the Ego. And he got all the procs when he fired.
The various fan efforts to add to the humor are pretty funny, too. For instance...
and this
and even this
Now if someone could just come up with a STO version.
Well, at least he had chicken. :P:D
