Are we counting Ground PvP characters as well? If so, I actively maintain 6 characters (5 ground and 1 space), working on the 7th (another space). I used to maintain 2 KDF characters, but the KDF ground queues are now more quiet than the FvF ground queues due to the hidden queue number problem.
8 Fed/Rom toons. Almost all at T5 on Voth as well (finish in 3 days). Each one of them with all the DOFFs (about 100+ purples on each) and equipment (including most weapon flavours and tac consoles on each toon) i'd ever need to test anything.
If i need fleet gear, drop zen > Dil > Fleet marks and purchase
I always have 1 sci, Eng and Tac fully battle ready for PvP. The rest are used as my testing toons for many potential PvP builds that show promise (Most test builds are nothing spectacular but 1 in 10 builds are an awesome find which strongly help shape the Panda premades).
I wont lie. Each toon is worth billions of EC in gear, DOFFs etc etc
Both of my klinks are just bank slot slaves with no rep at all really.
My original Fed Engi toon is kept for sentimental reasons though its T5 on Omega and Rom only.
Leveling a Rom Sci up but taking serious time on it. The thought of having to maintain a 9th toon just scares me.....
i just cant bring myself to dump actual cash in, to turn it into dil/marks. despite how much i loth grinding. i can hardly stand 4 characters, let alone 8
Haven't been playing for more than a year. In fact, I've only been playing for 8 months now. You might call me the rare flesh blood that some pvpers are craving for.
Of my 5 characters the only one that is nearly fully geared (always a WIP) is my Fedrom Tac flying a Fleet T'varo (the name is Tyr'Odan if anyone has encountered him). I have a fondness for dogfighting and I know "I'm doing it wrong" with this ship.
I have plans to turn the Gorn sci I brought to level 50 last month into something that I might take into pvp, but I'm not yet sure which kind of pvp. That's the big question, which kind of pvp do I want to play?
Getting into C&N or Ker'rat and start harassing people?
Grinding for months and/or paying insane amounts of money to build a ship that can be used in high level team environments? (I can play many other games for the price of just one serious team build.)
Or building something that is fun to fly and taking it into the queues just for teh lulz?
I haven't decided yet.
Though the (gear) entry requirements and the pressure to be one of the "needed" roles is kinda preventing me from taking team based arena pvp seriously. Be a vaper, a healer or a whatever. There is no in between. You either get a minmaxed build or get out. At least that's the picture I got from the few TD matches I played and the TD tournament. People haven't been telling me this, it's just the feeling I get when facing those guys. Don't take this as complaining though. I respect those guys, but I had to learn the hard way that this kind of pvp probably isn't really my thing.
Just one that could be capable, my main fed eng Derrick. But since he is an eng i wont touch the queues, and only hit kerrat now and again, so i spend most of my time ripping through elite pve content half asleep. Had i known, when i started, i would have rolled a tac instead. I simply dont have the time to develop and rep a new toon, my only other is a lvl 6 fed tac...which i have no motivation to continue at this point. I hold out hope that eng might be useful again some day, but honestly i dont expect it, and dont know that i really care anymore.
Though once the WW is over, I will at least start grinding Dyson rep on all my toons, since that won't be as much of a pain as the other reps are. Probably followed by Omega rep, Romulan rep, then Nukara rep.
Gear...meh, deal with on a per-character, and per-do-I-feel-like-getting-this situation.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Out of 12 I have 2 for space and 3 for ground that are max gear/rep blahblahblah. The Voth rep is almost done, 2 days. The rep coins might make me finish some of the others finally but investment cost for space is a bit of a hurdle for me.

Weeeell I think we just found out who is paying the bills for Cryptic. Does explain why you have all the best and shiney toys to test it all out on. I know who I would ask to test weird and wonderful things

Guilty as charged on all counts.
Yeah, once T5 Voth, can't wait to test the whole set out.
Contrary to popular belief, my biggest enjoyment is the testing of new toys and constantly helping to evolve our Panda premade. Not the forum or arena pew I'm probably most recognised for

Oh I can definitely see where you're coming from there. Creating and testing new builds is great fun in this game, shame it's so damned expensive if you need/want all the stuff to test the more...obscure things.
none. I used to play STO PVP "back in the day" aka pre-f2p and I was really fun. but since Cryptic has given up on PVP, so have I.
Same here! My ingame name is genxcraig and I was around from closed beta through summer of 2012, then I left. I had 1 tac Klingon, and 4 feds (2 tac/tac, sci/sci, and sci/tac) all geared for pvp. But now? None. I think I'll get one of my feds and tac rommie up to speed only.
Before EverQuest I was a commited altoholic. After EverQuest, I learned to just pick one and play it. I do make baby alts, usually to see starter content or experiment with a new class, but if I switch characters I completely switch.
That said, I have a couple different ships I try to keep maintained, tho now I pretty much focus on my Mobius. I did grab the Avenger to replace my Ody as a healboat, I need to get back into her.
I once again match my character. Behold the power of PINK!
I have 8. My primaries have the best gear (since beta), but all have the about the same rep. (All except for Dys.) I've completed Omega, Romulan, Tholian rep on all, now just the damn Dys. Then I still need to start grinding for the gear!! Strangely, I never tire of chasing Epophs
I maintain three characters for PvP out of all those I have, which is about... 8? Half not used at all lol.
Originally, I had to be really picky - weapons were expensive, ships were expensive consoles were hella expensive and doing the rep was tedius to the extreme, then you add DoFFs when they came around...
Now, I can rep in half the time, the skilltree isn't as restrictive as it once was, at least half the stuff to go on a ship can be gotten from fleet holdings. It's really only DoFF prices that stave off me making a Klink PvP toon, which I'm itching to have...

prior to LoR, i would have considered my main (kdf) to be fully geared and competitive. 700m ec of kit, properly specced, typically one of the top 2 damage dealers in the team. nowdays... i dont even bother. all the ec/lobi in the galaxy wont make me a romulan or buff my boffs to the degree of the roided up romulan traits.
What i take to mean: "full pvp geared" since there are degrees:
1x Elite Fleet shields
6pc Omega set gear
~ 20 general purpose purple dofss (ie. Dmg control, techinician, conn dof etc)
~ 6 very rare special purple doffs (Your marions, keelel....)
Blue MK XII tac consoles or better x5
Embassy Sci consoles or Mk XII purples
3 dil mine consoles
5 high quality boffs
All Rep systems passives
Fleet level ship of choices that hasn't been outdated (eg. fleet galaxy doesn't cut it against a recluse)
8x Mk XII [acc]x2 weapons
For Sci and Eng selection of good pets (mostly fleet but blue will do in some cases)
~6x universal consoles (either rep, lobi, or ship specific)
1x lockbox trait
The thing is i have awesome fleet-mates, and received many present over the last 4 years. So that I was able to keep up on 3 toons (2xsci 1eng), they still have their gear from pre-lor ...and its mostly still good. But my motivational back to keep up borke quickly after LOR was released.
0 of my current toons fullfill all the items on the list, and not only on the Dyson rep front.
I only got one, my main fed. Still have to do a respec but it's doing well, especially in a good team. All rep full and only 3hrs for dyson to hit T5 . I am excited! I plan to bring my rom up to spec asap, have been neglecting that one for a while now .
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
I have three Tacs, one on each faction, that all meet what I'd consider baseline PvP standards. They have enough gear and Doffs to create one ship build that works. They don't necessarily have every single thing, our KDF fleet doesn't even have access to XII Embassy, Dil Mine or Spire consoles yet. But they are all well above the Hilbert Guide level. Only my Fed Tac is packing a warehouse of ships, gear and purple Doffs for his choosing, he's the most competitive and adaptable of the lot. My new Fed Sci has only been around since Thanksgiving, she's not quite ready to go yet.
I have 2 Fedrom Tacs and a Fedrom Sci that is almost ready. Pre-LoR I had 2 fed tacs, a fed sci and a klink tac that were set and ready to roll....now they are on "extended leave"

Well thankfully theres a PvP race for epohh tags which can get you tons of marks, enough to max out rep and have plenty of marks left over ^.^
