I began testing the new Dsyon rep weapons the Ex weapon with the proc of 25% chance on a crit to apply X amount damage.
On 10 test in pvp I saw that the rate of the proc is not right.
1st off I have a 15% crit chance plus the [crit]x2 mod on the weapons.
using a turret I would fire about 500 volleys and crit anywhere from 15% to 22% on all test, however the proc would only hit about 1 to 6 times.
Same test results for the EX weapon.
So taking a look at the numbers if I crit 15% out of 500ish volleys I would about 75 crit hits, And having a proc hit 5 times would be about 6%, far below the 25% mark.
Now I don't expect the proc to hit 25% of the time, same As I don't expect to hit 20% crit hit each time, but there is a range of crit success, which is being met. hence I was criting 15% to 22%.
But the proc rate is way to low, around 6%.
"Frankly, not sure why you're on a one man nerf campaign. "
I was present for a number of these tests and used a different log parser. I can confirm that the 'on crit' proc rate is more like 6% and not the tooltip stated 25%
To be clear: We are not talking about how often in general combat the proc hits, but rather that it procs an average of 6% on critical hits. The tooltip says otherwise and I have seen nothing so far in the tribble patch notes that suggests that cryptic are even aware of this discrepancy.
A dev explanation would be very welcome.
"So my fun is wrong?"
No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.
And I was thinking of trying these out. Oh well, garbage it is.
I wouldn't call them garbage they nice weapons really made for science build. Once a dev looks at the proc to see if it is working right or not it may better. Plus would be nice if the damage proc would be affected by PG skill.

I tested this as of Dec 5 2013- 5:40am pst on holodeck. I don't know if they intend to fix this today, I'll post what I found anyways.
(TLDR: I found it to be at 10-11% vs the 25% on the tool tip.)
I tested this on a variety of NPC enemy ships. 5049 hits from all my weapons, this item hit 1193 times. Including times it hit with cannon volley 3 and CV1. (That was kind of a relief discovering cannon volley worked with the set bonus from all three items. Thank you Devs )
My findings:
Antiproton consoles do not boost damage to this item. Since I had a poloron console in my inventory I tested this too, no boost (expected).
The 3 set crit bonus to my torp was not improved at all. It should have improved 10% but it still showed it crit as usual. Maybe I misread the tool tip...
The proc rate on the photon burn was low by my calculations. Of my 1193 hits, 183 crit. Only 19 procced showing roughly 10.4%. My 183 crits included CV1 and CV3.
Hopefully they fix this item, I like it. For now I will shelve it as it cut my into dps too far to justify keeping.
Your proc success was higher i think because you used more then one weapon. I only tested with one weapon at a time. But nice see others are testing the proc.

I tested this on tribble while this maintenance was going on. The dyson weapons crit 138 times. I see a total of 7 Proton particle bourns. This makes it's proc rate during a crit at 2.9%. Total proc rate overall was 0.27%
Personally I think it's set up currently with a 2.5% chance. It needs to change to 25% and not 2.5%. This makes more sense as it can only proc off of a crit. If you crit at 10% and it procs at 25% that's 1 chance in 40 or 2.5% overall. If you crit at 20% and it procs at 25% then the chance would be 1 in 20 or 5% overall.
Not that i'll ever use these weapons. But for the people that will use them, this needs to be fixed as it's currently beyond terrible.
