Now the eye change does look nice- don't get me wrong- but eyes weren't exactly something I remember seeing people complain about.
I want to talk about hair. Nobody is happy with the hair. Any plans?
We want to improve the hair as well, but that's comparing *completely* different things.
The eyes took *maybe* a day at most to improve. And it's a shared asset for humanoids so it was a small effort for widespread improvement. (Note: no changes to other alien eyes as of yet).
Hair, on the other hand, is hella hard and time consuming. We're talking a day to multiple days of work for *each* hairdo to improve. And materials and shaders don't easily lend themselves to the properties of real hair so it's often a lot of time for only low to moderate improvement.
But again, we do want to improve the hair. Obviously not happening this build, though.
Nice work, but next time you might want to expand the examples beyond blue eyes since only 8% of the worldwide population has blue eyes. Brown with 55% would be a better example.

2 blue, one grey, one brown. You can make them any color you want from the palette on your avatar and officers.
I think until (if ever) the engine gets new hair tech that radically changes the way hair is rendered we would be better served if that time was spent adding new hair styles instead of improving existing ones.

Hair, basically, is to STO what the Arachnos skirts were to CoH. Widely touted as a "simple fix" when in reality much more complicated.
How about a fix for the complete emotionless dead faces of characters? or sometihng to actually make characters look different as it is 90% of NPC and player toons (humanoids) look the same just with slightly different skin colour and hair colour.

I think the new tech would likely be more in the vein of the partial transparency along bangs and hairlines like Caitian whiskers than any kind of resource expensive physics. In terms of physics, the most you MIGHT see are pre-rendered animations.
Will you guys be making the skins full body after this? My Borg characters would love to use the open uniforms i paid for, and as of yet, there are only 3 skins(possibly 4 with the voth) that don't cover just the head. I think "Infected" and "Neck Scales" are the more common ones i see if that helps for a starting point.
The eyes look great in the tribble shots, but the skins and uniforms are way more noticably off.
However I do have one pet peeve, the Latinum Trader on the Fleet Starbase Holding has a really bright cyan eye color, would it ever be possible to filter these in for Aliens? they look amazing on so many levels.

But. It. Should. Be. Done!
In the meantime, could we at least have all of the romulan haircuts made available for all humanoid races?
Awesome changes. Really looking forward to how they look on my Romulan embassy engineer since all she has is eyes and hair. Any chance of that getting fixed any time soon?
Let us upgrade the Seleya Ceremonial Lirpa and Kri'stak Blade
Great work! These new eyes look WAY better than the dull old ones. I'm glad someone's got an eye for detail, at least -- it will make a big difference for only a little bit of development time. Thanks for taking the time to inform us with a thread here, Joejing.
New, improved hair and additional hair options (don't forget the caitians too!) would be very much welcome. I'm glad it's on the list of things you wanna do.
I don't expect miracles on hair. I know it's got to be a ton of work and worse, work that wouldn't make PWE a profit, so finding time for it can't be easy. But I think the hair is something a lot of players are legitimately unhappy with.
Also, stances. They're exaggerated and mostly awful.
Hello crypticjoejing - **Please** add the "Long" hairstyle to Romulan and Borg Liberated Romulan females! The Vulcans have it so there's no reason a Romulan couldn't.

Nor would I. My experience with Sims modding is that hair requires a lot of GPU power if it's going to look realistic. While it would be nice to see better hair, especially for male characters since some of it is so low res, I doubt it will be coming any time soon.
My top priority is a youthful (rather than haggard) complexion that has no brown beard stubble, wrinkles, and deep cheek furrows. The ability to be able to give men something other than a frown would be nice, too. Men on old Risa used to smile (rarely, but they did). It's very difficult to find a male smiling anywhere in STO. They may all be gone completely now.
Possibly the only smiling man who ever existed in STO.
The artist(s) did an AWESOME job on the eyes! Kudos!!!!
Who contributed to this?
I would like to see more of such improvements like to hair, more styles like a curly, TOS styles and a Kirk (1960's, you know... pre-toupee)... skip the Janeway bun, please.
Thank again!

It's taking me some getting used to. I don't REALLY mind the irises being smaller, as it is more realistic, but it would be neat if we had a slider for iris size.
My Romulan doesn't look as subtly alien as I intended her to since the S8/eye update.
GAAAH!!! That skin thing is going to bug me every time it's visible.
It really is a terribly bad issue on the character models, and while i understand WHY it's there, there really isn't much reasoning behind it still being there. It should have been addressed back when they first started putting out open uniforms. Or as part of the character creator 2.0 (which sadly did nothing but change the UI), especially when they were offering Liberated characters with the deal. At least fix the Infected skins since they're apart of the lifetime package as well as the paid boffs.

Are you talking about the way his face is so much darker than his body? It could be that he wears his shirt enough to have a tan line.
But, I think this guy was eliminated with the redesign of Risa. With that was probably the only male in STO who ever smiled (and he did it rarely). He's sadly not a Foundry NPC. There is, instead, a horrible-looking bartender guy there and a barely dressed female.
As far as the eyes go... someone said their character looks like it has cataracts. I noticed the same issue.

I agree. Animu eyes aside, occasionally bigger is better.

well the problem here is that only the gorn, caitian, and trill skin (possibly the voth as well) go passed the head. It was a huge design oversight, so none of the other skin options go further than the neck. Even the basic skins don't, you can just try to match the color, but that line is still visible. In the case of the infected skins, there is no possible way to match the color, so even though people paid for an LTS to get liberated borg, they're really only getting the head, which is kind of a rip. Not even the hands ever had assimilated skins.
Granted, making the eyes look a tiny bit nicer is a good thing, but working to make the character skins look better, would go a lot longer.

I am not crazy about the new eyes. They seem too glassy for certain characters whose eyes used to have more depth.

Yes, for some characters, it looks fine. For my Romulan, for example, I mentioned on another thread her eyes look glassy, and at certain angles, 'milky.' Which looks like she has cataracts.
In addition, and I am chalking it up to certain eye parts being reduced with the patch and also the shininess, much character and depth is gone. I mentioned this all on my thread here:

Holey moley.
I just realized... MACO gear sure is a lot like Arachnos gear. Just need half helmets.
