Systems Designer Jeff "AdjudicatorHawk" Hamilton reveals details about the rewards you can earn at Q's Winter Wonderland this year in this entry of the Season 8 News Dev Blog series.
I?ll say this much ? it?s a Raider, minus a cloaking device, plus a substantial playstyle upgrade that will be coming to the Raider class as a whole at a future date.
THIS.
Raiders have been horribly underpowered thanks to the power creep. Not only that, but they can barely handle Voth High Yield Torpedoes.
I stopped when it said, "Raider minus the cloacking device"
Basically another useless escort with nothing special about it. Might as well get the Chel Grett for my alt instead

Granted, we don't know what it is yet, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on for now
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
"...for anyone who was unable to acquire the Breen Chel Grett Warship last year..."
hahahaha - i.e. all Romulan/Reman characters created in the last few months.....:D
This year, we?re also adding another Winter Featured Starbase Project that will allow Fleets who complete it to display a special NEW Breen Ship ornament in their Starbase interior. This decoration can be toggled on and off once active, and the featured project will cost only Holiday Commodities ? no other inputs will be required.
This the same as the one from last year or is this a new one?
And is there going to be a special project slot? Because we can't cancel Starbase projects.
With reference to the Plesh Brek Raider info from the blog: "It?s a Raider, minus a cloaking device, plus a substantial playstyle upgrade that will be coming to the Raider class as a whole at a future date."
I see where this is going, this is basically the "Avenger" of the Birds of Prey (and other Raiders) introducing another capability being implemented later for existing ships. I'll be sure to read up tomorrow.
I guess it is somewhat good news...considering my horrible UP Brel's state. When they mean "Soon" it runs in the PWE branch. For example Blacklight Retribution Devs constantly deliver the news "Soon! TM" to its player base and it ends up coming months later so don't expect this to come "Soon" "TM" :P
There was talk a while back about raiders getting a flanking bonus when attacking ships in the rear or side arcs, I don't know if that's going to be it but that would be interesting
So raider means all-universal boff layout, right? So all the people complaining about it not being a science ship are complaining about a ship that could run 4 science boffs at once, right?
Also, give us a frigate carrier pet of it. Please.

Most likely it is the idea Geko was talking about in a recent interview where he said the idea they had moving over to putting bops more inline being ships like kumari, avenger, scimitar, etc had a distinct advantage over them that they were thinking about adding a flanking system for bops which I would assume like this new raider ship and maybe future raiders feds or romulans might get would have this new system.
Although bops have pretty much been *the* raider class of the game for quite some time. Is a good way to label bops though because some who have not experienced piloting them know the difference between when an escort/destroyer is which for those not used to a bop its less hull and turns faster. Closest feds have is defiant and armitage and romulan the t'varo but bops are just a peg down from that but I assume based on his interview he wants to keep the aspect of bops/raiders being a ship class that is a piloting skill over stat based ship.
How exactly are these acquired from Winter Invasion? I mean, are they awarded to the whole team when found; awarded to each player who finds them individually; or will it become some sort of "first come, first served" race to get it first, much like Battlezone Command Credits...?
Like the thief backstab mechanic that was being talked about in the podcast?
since escort players and have additional rcs if needed, then the raider would have a very hard time trying to see beyond the escorts front weapon ports. can't see how this backstab mechanic would work beyond the cruisers. no, if there is going to be a stantial playstyle upgrad,e then all these ship types will need them.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I saw a leaked photo that made me think that the new jacket this year would be The Wrath of Khan jackets. Is this the red jacket or will those jackets be coming out later?
Dude, I just want another Event reputation project slot. Because I don't want to lose the 12 crystal shards that i've got slotted into that Entity project on my romulan, or the Risian pearls that are slotted into the corvette project on the same character.
I know, it sounds pathetic. But one more event project slot would make my life a LOT easier--and other ftp players' lives a lot easier.
Also, raider revamp is welcome news. BOPs have been weaksauce for far too long. I can't wait to see what the fix is!
Well, I do appreciate these events, and definitely looking forward to the new winter stuff, but the announcement of the grand prize ship was a huge letdown. It's just another Breen ship that happens to be a visually scaled-down raider without so much as a battle cloak to keep it interesting. Very disappointing. Maybe there's a stunning surprise in those stats coming tomorrow. We'll see.
Too bad it wasn't the Andorian broadsider ship that was teased upon in past interviews with Geko for over a year now. I guess the coders couldn't work out the concept into the game engine in time for this. I really hope Cryptic hasn't forgotten about it.

New functionality for Klingon ships is always welcome.
...At least, by those of us who have been keeping a KDF character or two relatively up-to-date.
40 autographs x 42 days = 1680
Divide by 2 = 840 for each, meaning you need 160 each to get both.
160 / 2 autographs minimum for each package = 80 packages
80 packages x 5 lobi = 400 Lobi
...is it worth it to get both?
Granted, we don't know what it is yet, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on for now

in that case you missed this bit right after.

Why do I got a feeling it's going to be costly?

Not sure how, that line jumped out and smacked me on the forehead. I'll be very interested to see what this 'substantial upgrade' is
weve had the bug ship(escort daddy), chel cruiser, risian escort, chel raider (nother word for escort) ambassador cruiser, odyssey cruiser
sigh im sure I missed one
/10char
The free Adv Research Vessel? The free Science Vessel Refit?
not a science vessel /20char
also...would it be too much to ask for this zone to be left up after the main event is over like risa?
Also, give us a frigate carrier pet of it. Please.

My 2 cents.
