Romulan Bridge Officer for Fed character

edited November 2013 in Federation Discussion
I just purchased a Romulan bridge officer from my fleet embassy under my Fereration character. I then went to modify the character at the tailer and it will not let me. Is this normal?? I have no problem modifying my Orion bridge officer i purchased for my Fed character so figured there wouldn't be a problem for a Romulan bridge officer. Anyone else experienceing this. Trying to figure out if its just a bug or if u really can't modify the officer. Thanks

It's normal, you can't change Embassy boff's clothing.

Look at it like this, for all of DS9 Major Kira was the first officer of DS9 and she wore the Bajoran uniform the whole time.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.
If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why.
When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

I wish we could at least have the option to put them in something else romulan perhaps. Nothing like seeing my entire bridge crew in fancy matching uniforms, then next to them the romulan in his patchwork green jacket >.>

Same with the Breen BOFF or Jem'hadar BOFF you can pick up currently. Can't put them in the same uniform. So for my rom tac, I gave everybody a different outfit.

Well as an option you can always trade the Rom Boff. Train it in an ability you could not do yourself. Then trade it back. You now have a Rom boff that's invisible above the waist. Although you will see floating hands, eyes and ears.

Yup this still hasn't been fixed.

    Hahaha good one!
Major Kira also had a double-dose of that stubborn DOff trait...

Sometimes the BOFF just loses their hair after a trade. :D
My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug. :D

They are all clones too! :-P My Sci Rommy and Tac Rommy are identical twins or clones or some strange scientific experiment in genetics.
Wow. There is a new KDF Science ship. I'll be!

It would at least make sense if we could modify their face, hair, eyebrows etc. as well as being able to put them in the Romulan-Fed/KDF alliance uniforms. My Romulan Tac BOff isn't even wearing the default Romulan Republic uniform, she's wearing civilian clothing. TRIBBLE green civilian clothing.

Wait, full stop.... did they fix it so diplomacy/marauder BOFFs can finally change clothes?

Right, same as the Jem'Hadar, Breen and Romulan BOFFs are not members of Starfleet. Pretty much if you can't edit the BOFFs uniform they aren't Starfleet.

So give us the option to edit between Romulan Republic uniforms instead, then.

    This.

The uniforms are already in-game too.

Only diplomacy BOFFs, which have always been editable. Marauding BOFFs are still uneditable.

^^ This. If I were to have Romulan officers on my ship, I'd want them to be military personnel, not civilians. I would also think that Romulan BOFFs on Federation/KDF crews should have access to their respective alliance uniforms as well.

Really with the release of LoR, not being able to mod the Romulan (and maybe the Reman) special Boffs is kinda silly. At the LEAST their default appearance needs to be changed so they're wearing a Republic uniform instead of something that Garak might have made while totally smashed on Kanar. The Breen and Jem'hadar boffs are different because they don't have options for their species or outfits in the tailor, while the Romulans (and Remans) very much do now.

I do think some limited ability to edit non-Starfleet officers would be cool. I think the one thing I really want is to set the uniform style of my starship, because nothing annoys me more than having my nice, crisp uniformed bridge officers, then the rest of my crew in whatever those jumpers they are wearing. Looks so unprofessional.

Faction appropriate Uniform editing sounds like a great idea.

    That made my day :D
But yeah, both the Roms and the Marauding BOFFS really should be editable. It feels so weird.

I agree that the embassy bridge officers should be editable. It's disconcerting to have Santa's elves running around with disruptors. Republic standard issue uniforms would be good enough for me.

And the costume editing options should be broadened for Diplomacy bridge officers. I would like to put my Gorn in a proper Starfleet uniform. And editable Marauder Boffs also get a "yes" vote from me, even though I don't play KDF.

Your Diplomacy Gorn is a KDF attach? to your FED captain. He is not a member of Starfleet. He is still a proud member of KDF.

However I fully sponsor customization of Embassy Roms and Diplomatic BOFFs as in both cases the customization is already in game - as opposed to, say, Jem'Hadar, who really are clones anyway.

Bear in mind that when Embassy Rom BOFFs were introduced, there were no other playable Main or BOFF Roms in game, so the limitation did make sense then, but it does not make sense anymore.

Uhmz, no? Technicly the KDF and the Federation are still at war, so why would the KDF loan out an officer? It's more likely that that BOFF is actually a deserter from the KDF that the Federation gave amnesty to. (Or a Fed prisoner forced to work on a KDF ship, or something)

EDIT: Yes I know endgame the KDF and the Federation are more cooperating than fighting eachother, but still they are at war and any cooperation is on specific jobs. It's a bit strange to have a Orion on my bridge killing Orions who are attacking my Starbase unless that Orion is a deserter

But I fully agree with this part, it doesn't make sense that the Romulan BOFF isn't able to wear at least the RR standard uniform.
