I am also piloting a Qin heavy Raptor with my female KDF Orion Engineer. I just love the raptors; but there is just one thing I cant get over... And that is the fact the pivoting point is located at the very rear end of the ship; thus it turns on its ***. And because of that I cant line my ship up properly for an attack run. Just because it turns so akward.
I am actually thinking about getting another ship for my kdf engineer. Maybe the Negh'var...
If only the turn radius issue was resolved I would continue to fly a raptor.
Until then I am doffing with her and trying to decide what ship I wanna get. But I bet I will miss my Qin...

...but still the Holy Grail eludes me, a full beam array build.
With a little work, I'm going to try for an all beam array build similar to Pantheras' suggestion, but I had horrible luck with the antiproton - will try phased polaron instead.
That`s The way it is we me also I fly The Bortas Ops and I hardly see any other bortas in The PVe that I play including The Daily Borg missions and The same thing with The Vulcan science Ship!:D
Just hit 40 last night and picked this ship up for the extra rear weapon slot and 4 Tac slots. This thread has been helpful getting Boff builds and so far melting NPCs faces with 3x DHC IX, 3x DTurr IX, 1x Chron Torp IX it's great. Only minor thing I have is the already pointed out butt turn, lol.
Due to some changes, mostly nerfs to science powers, I've found my Bird of Prey a lot less effective than it was, and as a result of this thread, decided to give the Qin that I wanted to make work, but couldn't, another go.
It's not bad, not bad at all. I'll probably stick with it at least for a while. I have got the Garumba, and I may go to that as my main ship, but it's my main on another character already. Using two copies of APO1 is making the Qin easier to handle, it's probably one of the tougher escorts to drive as the pivot point's in a ridiculous position.
I miss battle cloak, but it's still a noticable step up in raw firepower.

AP Turrets x2 + Quantum TB (or 3 turrets) in the back

3x AP mag regulators + Zero Point Quantum chamber (or 4x mags)
works in tandem with a siphon carrier or any shield stripper. a durable skill point build and hot keyed power settings help.
This is just a curious thought. I have a level 50 Tactical KDF Officer flying around in his souped up Qin heavy Raptor. Full Honor Guard Space Set, and enough firepower to rip apart most of what I see. Yet, I don't see many ships similar to me in space. Sure I see a lot of Guramba Destroyers, Bortas', and Hegt'ha Heavy Birds, but no Qin Raptors. Can anyone explain this to me?
BTW, I don't have much funds to put into the C-store in order to get me some of the top tier ships I mentioned.
I fly the qin and i am collecting loby crystals and i am going to collect from rerun about 600 crystals and iam wondering what is better temporal 2peace (tachconverter+chronDBB) or elachi 2peace (console and crescent canon). I have full advanced fleet antiproton weaponry (canons and the DBB) with no torps if i gona go for temporal i have to buy the chron torpedoe and if iam gona go to elachi i have ti swich to disruptors weaponry. Any proposals? Thanks in advance:)
