Disco Balls

gueneyhallek0420gueneyhallek0420 Member Posts: 435 Arc User
Allowing people to contaminate ground areas with those Risan disco ball things has made me avoid going into town for quite awhile. In the past with party favors you could turn off your audio. Baloon guns you could adjust max debris and make them go away. As far as disco balls I don't know of a way to avoid them aside from avoiding entire zones. So with winter event and an anniversary around the corner, what kind of tools are you the STO employees going to give these selfish people to come into my home home and violate me and my recreational activities this year?

Turn off physics objects in the options. Makes the balloon guns a non factor. Still no save from the disco balls other than changing zones though.

I mean seriously, it's a game. And don't use word you don't really understand their meaning.

Sseriously, this again? Get over it people they don't effect your game or stop you from doing anything. They aren't going anywhere.

I'll admit some roleplayers may find them disruptive, but any good rp'r will tell you that if you are gonna do it in a public area of the game then you should expect it.

Adjust your own behavior because you can't change other peoples. Nor should you.
It's not my fault if you feel trolled by my Disco ball... Sorry'boutit.

Isn't this getting a little old?
    "So my fun is wrong?"

No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

If you are being violated in your home I would suggest calling the police, in the meantime I would remember this is just a game and the people using the disco balls have EVERY RIGHT TO....

I feel like I've seen more posts complaining about these than I have seen people abusing them. And this is coming from a guy who bought 100 when they were released because he thought they were limited time only and your tears would be all the more abundant 6 months after risa when the disco balls were thought to be a thing of the past.

Anyway, they have like a 6 foot range and they last maybe a minute, there's a half dozen hubs, and you can change instance in any of them. Cope. Nobody's getting behavior modifying microchips implanted in their brains because you dislike something.

    I know RIGHT?!

I see a disco ball and I run over and have my very dignified Vulcan and his quantum copies, do a regal fan dance :D
    It's all for fun!
No one's getting hurt, interrupted or inconvenienced in any way other than the fact that your avatar dances for a few minutes. the HORROR !

OP, please try to loosen up, having fun with others is kinda important in an MMO....

    Dear Cryptic,
I LOVE the disco balls, More please!
I wouldn't mind my character gettin all silly and dancing around BADLY after consuming Romulan ale either. Maybe have a 2.5% chance of him running around with a lampshade on his head or something along those lines.

yeah tired of being disco ball assaulted against my will also.

And it isn't like they are used in appropriate areas. It is usually put down in areas where they hit the most people whether they want to join in or not. Most of the time around exchange hubs. On Drozana I don't mind, the appropriate place for it is right there by the game utilities.

These party favors should have expirations.

Prime example of basically the grieving mentality behind the use of them most of the time.

Of course they are used where there are the most people. You want to get the most for your money. I usually do mine by the bank and ship selectors in ESD and K7. I never bother doing it in DS9 or Drozana. There is always plenty of people doing it there already.
It's not my fault if you feel trolled by my Disco ball... Sorry'boutit.

Do you not deserve to have some fun after a long grid don't you? I want a disco ball that is not consumed by use. It would be nice if you could find a zen variant of it in the store ! :P

Ok first off I know this is a touchy topic but Disco balls.. After 15 min of having a troll drop them all over me while I was trying to rp I left the system. How are trolls even handled in this game? Arnt there supposed to be GM's out there to ban people like this? I wasnt even rping in local, it was over a private channel.

Back to the Disco balls though.. Can they be restricted to say Risa maby? Or make them not suddenly make you toon burst out into dance? I view it as harassment and a violation of the terms of service I agreed to. Disco balls can be fun, but 90% of the games population seems to be to immature to use them in good ways.

Not trying to rant or flame, just upset over trolls... :(
