Proposal for engineers

I feel like Engineer drones and turrets are weak and kind of useless. So here are several ideas.

Make them tougher: If you're only going to be able to launch one turret at a time (and if you're lucky with DOFFs, sometimes two or three), atleast make them a bit more tanky, turrets and drones just seem a little weak and it feels like they don't do much DPS.

Make engineers the carriers of ground: Make them weaker and smaller, but create a good amount of them, turn turrets into drones with more specialization (quantum mortars would remain turrets, but tune up the damage a little, please.)

Those are two ideas of mine. Please share your thoughts and opinions. In both cases, the turrets and drones would be able to remodulate.
I would love to visit this star in-game...or maybe this one!
Won't SOMEONE please think of the CHILDREN?!

Engineers have more power on the ground than either of the other two careers at the moment, so I'm not really sure where you came up with the idea that they're underpowered or weak.

My engineer can field two drones (seeker and support), two turrets (phaser and quantum mortar), and a medical station for healing all at once. On top of that she's got a self shield heal, cover shield to block enemy fire, and orbital strike - which since getting buffed does some massive damage now.

When doing ground missions I can run with an all engineer away team, specced into 3 turrets each, and field a total of up to 16 turrets at once, with up to 6 being dropped instantly at the start of combat, and they can all have diagnostics to cross heal and buff those turrets.

Engineers are the kings of ground combat - the area they're lacking in is space, where tacticals and even science can outdamage them with ease.

Not to mention, all the fabrication damage adds up. Sure, if you're playing ESTFs and an elite tact drone sprays them, they're toast. But they all have a fairly low cooldown compared to how long they last on the field. Their damage is not to be overlooked either. Work with them - If they're taking fire, take that time to go on the offensive and flank your opponents. If you're taking fire, take cover with your shields and let your drones do the damage.

With the fabrication kit, I typically put the mortar and medical generator behind my cover shield. Then, I place my turret to the side and let loose my two drones. Things get even better if I happen to spawn in 2 mortars/3 turrets/3 drones at once.

To me the only 'issue' with Engineers that I can see is that on ground is they can't keep up the damage while constantly moving forward. Now when things slow down and have to hold an area for a short time, Engineers just out-damage all other classes. But even then those mortars and turrets do have a decent range so its not even a big problem.

Engineers have it great on ground, no doubts about that.

I Concur with everyone but the OP, my Eng is viscious on the ground. I have all the Purple Doffs for getting multiple things out, and Mk XII Romulan Embassy gear. Add knowledge and proper placement of items you have a serious dmage dealing oppurtunity, and on all that if you have the Traits that help fabrications (not much but very helpful enough) they work out. Toss a Quick Fix out, Put your medical Gen near them.

If you use evena tiny amount of strategy, your engineer is super destructive on the ground.

For Example, if playing Khitomer Ground Elite (KAGE), drop Mortars outside rooms, or in central locations and they target very far out. Drop your support and seeker to follow you and you can place a turrets wherever you damn well please. Works for me everytime.:P
Inertia just means you can do Powerslides in you carrier!
I am Il Shadow and i approve these Shennanigans!

Never been a big fan of Engineer pets on the ground. Always preferred to have Equipment Technician myself.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
