Tactical Consoles
-Improved the damage type (Disruptor, Phaser, Chroniton, etc.) bonus on Vulnerability Exploiter and Vulnerability Locator Mk XII fleet consoles from 25.5% to 31.9%.
-Improved the weapon type (Torpedo, Beam, Cannon and Mines) bonus on Vulnerability Exploiter and Vulnerability Locator Mk XII fleet consoles from 22.3% to 27.9%
Well that's a little bit more nasty and every little helps in high level competitive PVP
EDIT - Wont let me change title to fleet not dyson lol

Anybody that ever bought them, without having more EC than they knew what to do with, should have already kicked themselves in the pants for buying them...
like me for example....
Vin Naftero@playhard88 - FED Sciencie
K'tan@playhard88 - KDF Tactical
Argento@playhard88 - RRF Tactical (FED)
But...but DDIS, my tac Reman in his Scimitar...He NEEDED more crit chance.
He only had a pathetic 20% crit chance. So I NEVER see any crits on him. He's REALLY underpowered to my other toons, and these new consoles will let him finally be on par with my other ones. :P
In all seriousness though, can anybody say:
15% crit (or more) for non-Roms and probably 25% crit for Roms? (Presuming they don't go for CrtD bonuses)
Really they should have done this in a way that didn't ramp up dps on heavy tac console ships...
Tac consoles should have got science secondary stats or something.
The Science consoles should have gotten the tac buffs if any of them really needed that.
The engi consoles... would have made more sense getting the tac buffs as well... would have been a dps boost for the cruisers cryptic seems so worried about all of a sudden.
Instead we got science ships with crazy shield heals thanks to stacked sci consoles... and soon we will have stupid high dps hybrid cruisers that turn just like escorts. fun.
I don't know its all bad creep... and more of a strike against pvp uptake. Anyway what do I care 12v12 space is coming.
I'm curious what the combo will actually mean as far as an increase to average DPS. Cause I would have thought with the previous numbers, the combo was putting them on par...where this will put them... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkOOCx8tT08
Don't worry. In CO people are running around with ~50% crit chance and some builds can buff it to 100% for like 15sec every 30 sec. So they are now slightly reducing crit chance.
That means even cryptic thinks sometimes the creep can go too far. So give STO another few years and they will probably nerf some offensive here too :P
My stomach is clear and my mind is full of bacon!
Perhaps they need to start broadening the field of procs/ mods that can affect weapons.
But, what am I thinking. That would require them to basically rewrite all the code!!
Agreed. While it's a welcome sight for those who can't attain more than 10m on an account, people who have invested hundreds of millions into VR Mk XII tact consoles are bound to be a bit ticked off for sure.
All hands! Prepare the popcorn and tinfoil hats!
i was very disappointed when i saw that the tac consoles would include more crit. completely over the top would be how i describe crit currently. thers about a dozen things that if they were to crit, would 1 shot a person now, criting has to be something that is low as a result, this is beyond reckless.
these tac consoles should have had + to all kinetic on the energy consoles, and + to all energy on the kinetic consoles, so running torps wouldn't be so rainbow compared to running BO for spike. or maybe multiple energy types, to mirror the various armor. anything but crit.
this is proboly the result of my thread complaining about romulan boffs and their crit among other things, and the lack of parity for kdf and feds. this is their way of leveling the playing field. by not leveling the playing field, just moving the goal post.
it was pretty obvious that a holding that would have tac consoles was an eventuality back when the embassy was launched. given that fact, yall should have known better then to spend outrageous ec buying mkXII purples.
I confess I don't know the formulae but +1.9% damage per console with +1.6% crit chance isn't as bad as +XX stat, +plasma damage, +proc of choice. One could argue right now for best damage dealing results you want a ship with 4 tac, 4 sci and 2 eng console slots (damn that's a lot of plasma proc chance...)
Yes. They had a perfect chance to make energy/kinetic combination consoles and encourage mix builds. That would promote more iconic trek builds and would have probably been well received by the pve community. It would also improve many casual builds I am sure.
If they would have made something like 30% energy type 10% kinetic it would only benefit hybrid builds.
They could have also made combinations of energy types, like a 30%phaser/polaron dmg increase to support partial rainbow builds.
Many options to help the community without making them the new must have consoles. They had a great chance so support build diversity and they missed it.

anybody that ever bought anything in this game should already kicked themselves in the pants by now .
In normal games if you for example have X item which is the best of its kind and after an update the next best item is Y they allow you to upgrade your X to Y.In this game you have to throw away your stuffs and buy new ones .
Mk XII tac consoles were always way too expensive compared to mk XI and they were more a "show off" item .Now I guess they want people to dump them to vendors for few ecs and grind again....even thou some people already grinded to get the best item in game.
so "the best" items in a game should never be bought because some future update will make them useless?
but seriously it would make alot of console fabricators very unhappy, but it forces people now to buy keys to sell for EC, this would increase the prices of keys very shortly, better buy them now before they go up

why would anyone need ec?Everything is in fleet and costs fm and dilithium. They can close the exchange because pretty soon people will barter keys for lockbox stuffs (already happened in neverwinter...just check the chat there ).There is nothing left in game you need to buy or have....everything costs fm and dilithium or loby crystals ....its more direct route to barter X amount of keys for a lobi ship than get useless ec to buy that ship.
btw is there anything left not bound in game?Very rare is more common than common and everything is bound to character so account bank and exchange are useless.
LOL sto
According to some earlier tribble testing, the Tac consoles with bonus crit were already an improvement over Mk XII purples in terms of DPS. Now they are over the top.
Im too lazy to calculate atm and dont know stats on the new ones.
Neverwinter uses the dilithium equivalent as exchange currency and there is a fee for auctions. There is no reason for direct trade in STO. Selling keys in the exchange and buying your lockbox ship there is far simpler. Standing around, advertising your sales in the chat and meeting people takes time. Why do that? You do not loose anything in STO by using the exchange. So no, I don't think the exchange here will die.
Also there are still [acc]x2 critd/h weapons and [acc]x3. And neutroniums might be cheaper than they once were but they are still worth something on the exchange, despite fleet consoles. There are also doffs, boffs, fleet modules, crafting stuff (that is needed for starbase projects since crafting is mostly pointless),...
It will make some people in the console fabrication unhappy but they will survive move on. I doubt there will be that much of an impact on the economy.
