No. They posted the stats for the Obelisk yesterday, and then I think the Sphere of Influence episode started a day early (ie it started yesterday, when I think it was intended to start today).
You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.
Can we have the Breen or even a Connie look alike instead. This thing looks like a wrench that just escaped from a tool workshop...Who designed it?. Then again a man's trash is another's beauty....what a waste of a great episode :D:D
hehe! It kind of does look like an Ori ship! Could use a few more round edges and a great circle on the inside but beyond that.....hmmm...maybe a different variation of one of their motherships....

Yep, still love those old star-gate episodes....
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Always move forward, even if it's one step at a time..
For people who didn't see it, you can get another freebie Advanced Obelisk Swarmers in that episode. Hint follow all of the bridge paths. There are 2 accolades. Fall off a bridge to get one. There are 5 dead end consoles. You get the second accolade at the 5th console. Then go back to previous consoles to get Advanced Swarmers.
Love those freebies
When the system is slow with many people, the follow the color codes puzzle can be a problem because the color symbols don't all appear. I had to rely on the sound instead and guess some colors with many attempts. Would be nice if Cryptic made the color symbols appear for a longer period of time. Then they won't be invisible when the system is slow.
The Obelisk and the Atrox do have one of the slowest Turn Rates. So I don't understand the meaning of giving them the DC ability, except you have a non/slow moving object in front of you.
For such slow turning vessels, I would rather like to see Energy Damage Type variants of the Rapid Fire Missile Launchers. I know the DMG itself is not so high, but you have a wider firing arc.
Carriers have plenty of space, so they could stock up missiles in their cargo bays.
To be blunt, i dont like Carriers in Star Trek, it just doesn't feel right.
So the reward of this great mission is just a huge disappointment for me (but i didn't expect anything else from Cryptic).

It's to appease the DPS crowd who will demand DC if they didn't put that ability on.
Sure most of the time the 45 degree arc won't hit anything, but think of the Super High DeePeeSss if the enemy accidently travels in front of you, it's TOTALLY AWESOME Dude!!
It doesn't matter if the turn rate is low because you have 12 fast turning fighters doing all the damage for you. Carriers are great for people with slow computers/laptop like me. When there is a lot of people on the servers there is HUGE LAG and even high turn rate escorts can't turn. When that happens, let the fighters do all the turning and not worry about turning the carrier.
First off, I kinda like the design overall... but...
The carrier is bottom heavy relative to its thrust (but then again, so was the star fleet ships too, except for the ones with 4 nacelles). It just looks wrong... changing the angle of thrust up a couple degrees would probably get rid of that look.
And... after all the work and imagination designing the ship... which is supposed to be from a race that exists in subspace... and they just slap on antiproton and transphasics onto it?
I mean... ok, the transphasics at least make some sense... but we already have antiprotons all over the place... they couldn't introduce a new energy weapon type that suits the primary energy type we saw at the alien's base?
Ok, granted... the ship itself probably wasn't built directly by those aliens, but one of the species they subjugated, but still... at least tune them down more into the ultraviolet range or something instead of recycling energy weapons we already have.
All-in-all tho... minor criticisms, I still like the ship.
I just wish it ended up being much rarer. It has already become much too common to see flying around, and it just began a couple days ago.
Hmmm. Looks like a dinosaur skull. This is a glimpse of Voth ship design.
Actually, there are more subtle visual clues to indicate that it's -not- a Voth ship, as well as fragments of information in the featured episode. We've seen previews of Voth ship designs, and this one looks significantly different. Upon closer inspection - particularly on the bridge - there are repeated circular patterns, which mimic design elements of the Dyson Sphere. This would suggest that the Carrier was built by the Solanae.
The weaponry it comes equipped with is somewhat ambiguous. Antiproton energy weapons and Transphasic torpedoes are both used by the Iconians, but the Voth do use Antiproton as well, and other races using Transphasics. This would suggest that neither weapon is characteristic of any one faction, but is utilised by those with sufficiently advanced technology.
Since the Obelisk was accessed through the Iconian gateway network, and one of the consoles had information about its status, this would imply that the ship was either used/manufactured by one of the Iconian "servitor" races - possibly the Solanae, but we don't know what happened to them yet - or captured at a later stage from the culture they were at war with.
...

I admit it's somewhat hypocritical for me to agree, since I'll be getting the free version of the ship for all six of my characters, but I do understand this sentiment. The oversaturation of the ship, particularly around the hubs, is somewhat disconcerting and certainly not the most immersive element of the game. However, there is basically no way to ensure a ship in this game will be actually rare without making it a random drop (the lockbox prize ships and the JHAS), or less worthwhile to fly than other ships of the same tier (low-tier Fleet ships that don't have module discounts).
However, I'm sure that after a while the excitement for this new ship will die down, as players return to using their favourite ships. Other free alien ships don't seem to getting too much use at the moment (Risian corvette, Breen Chel Grett).
Forget the possibility of PvP, for so much has become pay-to-win, never to be balanced. Forget the promise of exploration and research, for in the grim dark future of Star Trek Online there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting publishers.

So is the trend with any new ship... Its a lather, rinse, repeat pattern. New ship comes out whether it be free in a mission, or bought from the C-Store and everyone has to have it, then after the 'newness' wears off people go back to their favorite or best built ships until something else new come about and the cycle repeats. So is the way in STO.
The Galaxy needs you to fight the Iconians and their Heralds in order to protect our interests and freedoms in the Galaxy. Join the fight in the Herald/Iconian War today!

Well, some people will keep the "new shiny" if they decide they like it.
Unlike so many others on this forum, I absolutely love this new alien carrier! It handles so much better than my Atrox Caitian carrier, and I will be using it as my main Fed ship for a minute, until something new comes along.
I like the new carrier but why are there NO customization options? Everyone looks exactly the same unless their shield alters appearance slightly, but there are NO options to change anything. Why not provide several skins? Why don't any box ships allow the use of veteran skins?
Ok I may want comment on the new 3 set piece bonus...
For those people who think you have to buy this don't worry.
Yes you have to get the last console from the lobi store, but if you complete storylines you get 15 lobi per story, so maybe you can get it for those lobi .
This is for the people who don't buy stuff online, now maybe someone can help me if this only once per finishing a story or every time you finish a story.
Could someone enlighten me please for further info ?

"Coffee: the finest organic suspension ever devised. It's got me through the worst of the last three years. I beat the Borg with it."
Some races are just more carrier-oriented than others due to their combat styles...
The UFP just wasn't one of them, preferring instead to rely on energy weapons and diplomacy.
The KDF, being more warlike, would gravitate more to the use of carriers and fighters.
IMHO, the Terrans (alternate universe, TOS era) would have been more likely to use carriers as well as they seemed to be more aggressive.
The Jem Hadar? Oh yeah... definitely carriers... when you have a fighting race bred to live for dying for their gods, they'll definitely be up for kamikazee missions in fighters as manually guided missiles if a last-ditch effort calls for it.
Orion Syndicate? hmm... maybe not fighters so much as they seem to prefer working behind the scenes, but they could find a carrier useful for some things, like raiding parties against freighters they want to loot...

My PvE/PvP hybrid skill tree
ie all month it has been stated as the 31st that the new FE would go live...yet it was live yesterday the 30th

That's what I thought when I first saw the ship, it really does look like something from SG1.
Will the add the Daedalas next?
another ship for the rebel alliance mon mothma will be happy .... wait I mean admiral Quinn and Starfleet
This comes close to Daedalas class http://sto.gamepedia.com/File:Klingon_Battle_Cruiser_(Tor%27Kaht).png
I can still move.
I can still fight.
I will never give up!
I had the same thought
Fun mission

Well if it helps unlike the other carriers I believe the swarmers are completely automated so it makes more sense than other carriers.

My character Tsin'xing
They were always referenced but never really shown (carriers) the Akira was in fact billed as a carrier believe it or not.
