    Oh man, that's awesome.

After seeing these shots and the video one user made about the ground battlezone on Tribble, I really get a serious Ro'Maeve/Ru'Aun Gardens vibe from this whole place. It doesn't necessarily look the same, but the materials and color schemes with the architecture style definitely has some similar points to it. That's not a bad thing though, I think it's super sweet. Almost feels like going back home in a way. Although it could just be my imagination. Or maybe one of the environment devs is actually an old school XI vet bringing some of that flavor over here. ;)

yeah does feel like it but then again it could be where u fight promethius in "sea" and yes i am a old school ffXI vet to odin shard ^_~

I don't see why Cryptic wouldn't use the Destiny series as the origin of the Borg. It's the best origin story I've read for them plus they've already incorporated the Vesta class into the game, a product of that series and future Typhon Pact books (something which would have made for a great two faction MMO instead of the disjointed TRIBBLE of a storyline we have at present.

    Not canon.

STO doesn't follow the novels and could go in their own direction on the Borg origin if they wanted it to.

    They could...

But in one of those New Romulus cutscenes the Tholians explain that they're using the Azure Nebula because it's chock full of subspace tunnels they can use to zip around.

Toss in that a different timeline would not change the origin so Destiny still works as well even if Borg did not end for us.

Haha right on. I'm from Garuda. But yeah it could totally be Al'taieu (Sea) as well. Ro'Maeve, Ru'Aun, and Al'taieu were all built by the Zilart after all. Same with the crags, Delkfutt's Tower, etc. The architecture is unmistakable. I totally love it though.

Ohoho that's it isn't it? The Dyson Sphere was built by the Zilart. By Altana, it all makes sense now.

I wonder if the Voth created the Borg... Think about it, they're both Transwarp Capable, they both have very large ships, and they both have neural circuitry (I think...), and we have never seen an assimilated Voth before.

Ehm... that would be the most uninspired Origin story for the Borg I can imagine.
There are zero connections. Transwarp is a technology like every other. Only a few species are advanced enough to field it.
Was the Federation created by the Borg because they have Transwarp, too? Nonsense.

Neural ciruitry? There isn't only one species in existence with that tech. So again, no argument to be found here.

    And no assimilated Voth?

Three) in the novels that explain the Borg existence the people that created the Borg where dieing of a plague. One scientist was using foreign technology to try to treat the sickness in controlled ships orbiting their planet. The first Borg and thus Borg queen was that persons daughter. None of that species exist anymore, they all were forcefully assimilated into the first collective.
What novel did that come from? I would love to read about the Borg's origins.

There's a good half dozen or so different Borg origin stories according to the novels, comics, and a game or two. Most of them are pretty silly, in my opinion, especially the recent Destiny series with their deus ex machina of an ending.

That particular origin story comes from the manga books, however. It's from the story "Side Effects" in the Shinsei Shinsei volume. Each story in the handful of manga volumes turned out were usually done by a different author and artist, some of Star Trek renown, and are worth looking into for the unique independent tales.

As far as Borg origin stories go, I'll go with the more mysterious insinuation that the Borg are loosely related to V'ger through a common "ancestry," some ancient machine race out there in the great, black deep (also insinuated in the relatively recent Nero backstory comics). This does not count the Shatnerverse origin story of V'ger being rebuilt BY the Borg or the Legacy game's origin story of the Borg being created as probes by V'ger.

Once my toons enter this place, they may never REDACTED.

And the Q are older than the Tkon, which, presumably, are even older than the Iconians. The Q adding to themselves from the Iconians, are more likely than entirely coming from them.

Changing the Rep system again? Fine, just as long as I don't LOSE my progress on my other reps. Really, I just finished the Borg Rep on my 3 character and close to finishing the romulan Rep again. Don't make me start over.

On another note, how are our ancestry cousins?

No changes have been made to the older reputations. We have no plans of taking any hard earned reputation progress or rewards away from anyone! The reputation changes only apply to the new Dyson Joint Command reputation.

Occasionally, we're able to set up a beachhead in the Voth Zone. Here, the Voth control the space around the doorway that exits the sphere, and allied ships conduct daring raids to disrupt Voth operations.
I'm imagining a fight above the outer surface of the Dyson Sphere, pure chaotic carnage as we get in amidst the Voth and 'disrupt' their operations.

    I'm probably wrong.

No. The Voth use what is apparently a more advanced "transwarp" that requires no conduits or gateways, and there isn't much need for them to assimilate the technology of inferior races.

Plus, if the Voth were responsible for creating the Borg, they wouldn't use a form (humanoid) that they feel was inferior. The borg are seeking perfection, after all. (According to the Queen.)

Pretty close: Judging from screenshots and what's been seen on tribble so far, the chaotic carnage is on and above the inside surface of the sphere.

Haven't seen any of the space stuff since what little is there is crashing, but the ground battle zone can be pure chaos. Mechs dropping in out of the sky, fighters zipping overhead and strafing battle areas, artillery pounding control points, raptors stalking the open areas, just a crazy ridiculous lot of stuff going on.

Space stuff which I tried before the crash bug really wasn't nearly as chaotic as the ground. Occasionally you get swamped by a lot of spawns, but mostly it is your typical STF with a few minor twists to it.
