One of those alts dead in the reputation oblivion, these days running for the crystaline grindfest:

STO so challenging, that I demand moer reputetions and grindfest for phat gearz nao and moar fleet dilithium grab!

EDIT: This is not a complain about the obviously bad score system, nor a 'how pro I am' thread, but on the contrary, I just wonder if its just time to give PVE an overhaul, trying to match the NPCs AI and other elements to a level of difficulty beyond 'granma mode'.

I am still not sure how the scoring system actually works in those events. I can always place in a carrier or eng cruiser while my Tac cruiser never manages it. It might be that I use APB, so everyone else does more damage, but it still seems odd.

That's not the point, the point is that build is all over the place and still pulled 1st place in something using Mk 8 weapons at that and doesn't even have phaser relays.

Yeah I dont have tactical consoles, I think almost everything is default when you obtain the ship in level 40. Not sure, some other things is just randomly sloted.

And yes, I'm playing normal cause I do this TRIBBLE 15 times at day with all my alts (once I managed to take 2nd place with a default geared Miranda...)

Still, is not about scoring here (yeah, who knows how the score works, of it works at all), its about you even being able to do this with your closed eyes (hiperbole), when its suposed to be la crem? de la crem? of the endcontent and they are selling you uber ships, uber reputations and new fleet gear faster than you can obtain it...

Healing ticks adds to your overall score. Hazard emitters is the best way to increase your score and your chance of getting 1st place.

I can't see your boff skills to know if you have HE but if you used that alot on yourself or others that could explain your high placement.
    Well I can't forget a face but I won't remember y'all.

im pretty shure scoring is like whos line is it anyways, its all made up and the points don't matter (mainly cause of azure nebula.. I have run that thing a million times it feels, and in one run, the team will save x amount of ships and get 30 marks, but.. the next time I ran it, we got the same amount of points (as in ship points) and only got 20 or something.. im pretty sure the system just randomly rewards stuff.. (also, I am a guy who runs a build perfect for ce, and don't always get 1st place, not that im complaining, you only really need to get it once for the trophy, but it is just odd that I will go in, see that I am obviously the only one who is keeping rotation and dps up consistently, and still only get 4rd or something..) I really love my run on sentence lol..

You get 24 rep marks for best score. 30 if marks event is going on. They should really increase that, BTW.

Healing is the most important in this event. If you have the valdore console on a rom, you are almost guaranteed to be 1rst.
Spamming healing with my 130aux vesta works to.

    DPS, not so much.

So basically doing nothing to actually help your team and spamming heals on yourself is the way to go.

Please tell me heals don't count if you use them at full HP/Shields, or are you supposed to drive into the shards on purpose to pad totals?

There would also have to be a change to the reward structure. If you make a few encounters harder, but keep rewarding the same stuff you have on normal mode, people will simply skip the hard encounters and keep grinding the low-tiered stuff.

The best example are the STFs. It's my impression that when they introduced the rep-system and had every STF reward the same thing (dilithium, marks and processors), most people simply stopped running the more challenging STFs (Ground, Hive) and kept grinding ISE over and over again...

Best way to score in this is to ram shards and heal yourself, you only get bonuses for hurting the team, amazing mission design.

I believe the Valdore shield healing console adds an almost guaranteed 1st place as it heals your shields as you fire on the entity at a fairly high and constant rate. I don't think I have ever - ever place below 2nd with a romulan ship equipped with the Valdore console.

Why can't they just use this system:

1 point Damage to enemy target = 1 point

1 point damage to primary enemy (CE, Negh'var, other mission specific enemies) = 1.5 points

1 point self-heal = 0 (Why get points for repairing yourself - staying alive should reward itself through damage dealt)

    1 point cross-heal = 1 point (rewards team support)

That only works if they don't KO you.

Anyways, cross heal should definitely count for more than self heal though.
