hows the fleet heavy cruiser?

I've never been big on cruisers in general, buy I have always liked the appearance and design of the heavy cruiser. Been thinking about getting the fleet version lately, and wanted some opinions on it first.

Mainly im looking at it as a possible "speed tank" ship, utilizing the new threat command coming to cruisers. Would be used on a tactical captain.

It's not bad, and it'll probably be getting better in the next couple weeks. If anything it suffers from a lack of its own identity. IE, its stats are close to the excelsior, and its bridge officer layout is the older Assault cruisers. If you really like the look of the ship, it works great.

It's an assault cruiser with a noticeably higher turn rate. You're not going to be able to "speed tank" in it, though it would make a regular tank as well as an AC would.

I mean it's a fine ship... just not worth the price unless you really love the Cheyenne.

I'm a cruiser fan and picked up the Fleet Heavy Cruiser a little while ago. It's a decent enough ship. It's basically the standard RA Assault Cruiser with superior maneuverability. It can be set up as an aux2bat beam boat and put out decent enough numbers. If your not really a cruiser fan I'd probably avoid it...its just another cruiser, but with slightly better turn rate.

It's boff seating is the second best you could possibly get for healing IMO. It's turn rate and console setup are great too. Back before reputation came about it was the only fed cruiser that beat my ktinga in a fair fight.

    This.

Cost can't be discounted from buying a C-store ship, so it might not be worth it to some. But IMO it's a beast.

My Fed ENG has one of these. It's BOFF layout is very "old school STO Cruiser," but it handles very well and is rugged. If you are looking for Fleet Sovereign / Fleet Excelsior v3.0, this is not the ship you're looking for. If you like ENG heavy Cruisers, and want good handling, and want a rarely seen ship in this game, the FHC is good.

The only catch is that it costs 20k FC and a whopping 4 FSMs. You better know what you're going into with that many FSMs.

Ironically, it all works out in an even mathematical way. 20k fleet credits, $20 in FSMs...

It's a FANTASTIC ship! I highly recommend it. It the only ship that my character uses. For aesthetic reasons as well as for fun! I like the Stargazer variant with a few mods. It looks great plays great and you just can't go wrong with it. Hands down my favorite ship in the game. The BOFF slots rock as well!

Go for it if you want 4 nacelles... Otherwise, there's nothing that you'd want it to do that isn't done better in another cruiser.

And it has a relatively bad shield mod and hull.
