Vice Admiral Ships for my Romulan Tactical and Engineer

Just like my thread in the Federation Secction i am also deciding which ship to buy as a Romulan. I already decided to buy the D?Deridex for my engineer and a Mogai (as a Cruiser Escort) and the Dhelan for my Tactical (2 ships to choose depending on the Mission ahead) but THen came the Scimitars and the Haakona for my Engineer and the new Tactical warbirds for the Tactical Officers. I still am preferring the D?Deridex just because i liked my captains version and its just an icon and i also think i take the Mogai and replace the Dhelan with the new Ar Kif

Please tell me if you would do anything different. BTW the Scimitars are relatively low on my whishlist because they are too big, the Pack is quite expensife (for packs i always go all or nothing) and they are Scimitars. No Pomulan should fly the Ship of the Traitor Shinzon

    I'm a big fan of the T'varo! I got the Tier 5 version and have nothing but good things to say about it - the LTC universal slot lets you run it just about any way you want.

    Not sure if the Tier 1 version is worth getting as I hear the Torp cooldown from the set is borked and doesn't work - can anyone confirm or deny?

    i went with the Ar'kif and I am enjoying it. the only thing I am coming across getting used to is the Focused Singularity Beam cant activate anything or it will stop

    What do you mean by this?

    Activating any other abilities stops it? attacking with your cannons/torpedoes stops it? I'm looking forward to getting the ar'kif (using the lower tier version now), and the singularity beam sounds great, but I hadnt heard about these issues before.



    To the OP:
    I typically go with my ship choices based on appearance/aesthetics and RP value, being in an RP fleet - that said, the only two romulan republic ships that I really like the appearance of are the t'varo and ar'kif/ar'kala. I do have a nostalgic appreciation for the d'deridex, but I dont like the idea of using ex-imperial ships for my republic characters (which also counts out the t'varo for me, so I went with the ar'kif).

    I think the Scimitars are too expensive and i will take the D`Deridex (looks better than the Haakona) and The Mogai And the Ar`Kif . The ArKif has the same Hull and Turnrate as the Dhelan and the Annihilation Mode Plus a Hangar to take care of those pesky little enemy fighters. What else do i need?

    I happen to like the Haakona, mainly because it reminds me of FASA's old 'Winged Defender' cruiser, which was always a personal favorite.

    Now granted, the Haakona is more like fat 70's Elvis to the Defender's svelte 50's Elvis, but still, it's as close as I'll see in STO. ;)

    I've been having a lot of fun with the Ar'kala - not sure that I'll bother getting the Retrofit tho. I figure with the T'varo R from the Legacy Pack and the Haakona, I'm probably good.

    I use a Fleet D'Deridex on my engineer. I built it to be virtually indestructable. Damage output is respectable, but it's basically my project to see if I can make an unkillable ship. I simply can't turn away from it, and the three tac consoles and lt. cmdr. tac means it's no slouch to bringing the pain. It is what I bought into STO for, the chance to fly a D'Deridex. I am living my dream that started 3 years ago, it is... as said before an icon.
