It's no surprise that ever since the addition of the Fleet Holdings (especially the Embassy on New Romulus) as well as the New Romulus reputation track itself, plasma weapons have become excessively good over the other damage types.
Now, while all damage types have the same basic raw damage potential, plasma has become far and above the rest with it's proc, passives from reputation, and new embassy consoles.
What I propose, is the addition of a "Home" Reputation track depending on which faction you're character is aligned with (FED / KDF). This reputation track would have a set of new passive abilities, and a new active ability. These abilities would likely be made identical between the FED version and KDF.
Rewards that are unlocked in this reputation track, would benefit the primary damage type of the selected faction (Phasers for FED, Disruptors for KDF), bringing these two damage types upto a similar level that Plasma weapons currently enjoy.
.....
In addition, Omega reputation should be modified to include new Antiproton space rewards.
For future reputation tracks, they could add similar benefits for Polaron and Tetryon weaponry. Polaron would be most suitable for a potential Dominion reputation.
Opinions?

Sounds interesting.
Although I think the Nukara Rep has Tetryon involved already, considering it unlocks Refracting Tetryon space weapons, has the Nukara space set that I think boosts Tetryon, and has the active space Tetryon ability.
I haven't gotten that deep into the Nukara Rep yet. But still, would be nice if all of the "primary damage types" had their own associated Reputation track. Currently missing the two big ones: Phasers/Disruptors.
When we first learned of reputations before Season 7, I thought would be more oriented toward organizations like Section 31, Department of Temporal Investigations, Daystrom Institute, etc rather than the current reputations.
Interesting Idea, but afraid many are tired of grinding new reputations. Especially since items in the existing reputations are such a disappointment and easily obsolete by Fleet Stores.
I would support this if it meant unlocking a path towards an alternate Phaser type and the option to unlock Mk XII Aegis gear...

Please no more reputation tracks--at least until the rumored revamp.
This is what was revealed in the July State of the Game.
"We will also be introducing a new fleet holding and updated reputation system that plays a more integrated role in the entire season. The new Reputation will represent a major shift in how the reputation system rewards players, taking into account much of the feedback and comments about the existing reps by adjusting the way project and reward structures are integrated, hopefully making it much more approachable than some of the previous systems."
Since they introduce a new reputation each season and the State of the Game was mainly talking about Season 8, then there will be no more Reputations till Season 8. I assume if this reputation system is popular, then they will adjust the current reputations to follow this model. It is entirely possible that they will follow the Campaign system from Neverwinter for the new Reputation system.
I'm not familiar with the Neverwinter rep system. Is it less painful than in STO? I think my biggest complaint with rep in STO is that it's incredibly repetitive since there are no account unlocks.
I hope They don't tie too much more into the Fleet System...
There are still many players like me with an Alt-Fleet, that don't benefit from those items.
I don't want more aspects of the game, pretty much out of reach for my toons.
I don't begrudge players in active Fleets the stuff they can already get, I just don't want to be cut out of any more powerful ships and items to use when they come along.
Most of the Fleet items are somewhat PvP oriented...
Since I don't partake in PvP, that stuff isn't really a great loss for me at this point.
Again, I just don't want to see a much larger part of the game heading in a direction that leaves me behind as a Non-PvP participant.
I also don't want folks to think I don't want ANY PvP stuff added...
I realize that Cryptic needs to engage that part of the player-base a lot better than They have.
I just hope They don't go whole-hog in that direction at some point.

It seems to be. Here is the information on the only reputation system of Neverwinter. Plant Vibrant Seedlings requires doing it 3 times to get to the next project and Reinforce Protective Wards requires doing it 9 times. So you are not spending 2 months to finish it as far as I know and the Unlock the Dark Fey Enclave project and Unlock the Realm of Malabog projects unlocks portals that take you to different parts of the zone. Most of the items in it seem to be available from the start, but you need enough resources to purchase. However, the passive powers require purchasing them so they can be skipped. Only got to the Reinforce Protective Wards project at the moment so I don't know what the final projects require. Some of the gear appears in the dungeons or instances so to get a full set, then you have to do multiple tasks instead of just one.
