Stop rearraning my department heads!

I know it's a cosmetic issue, but it's one that bugs me a lot. I'll say it again, it ruins the level of immersion for me when the game is constantly setting the DOFF Department Heads to whatever it feels like (there's a consistency to whom it chooses to assign to which department, but it's never whom I've set there). A 'lock station choices' feature would be nice.

Good luck. This one comes and goes for me. Everything will be fine for a while then BLAMO. Right now, I have no Operations or Engineering head - and cannot set one!

Hear Hear! This one bugs me as well. For now Ive given up assigning department heads. It only re-organises them again the next time I log in.

As near as I can figure out, whenever I go into a ground map, the system looks for my department heads and sets them - looking, not at my list of bridge officers, but at my current (or most recent) away team.

If I've just been to a map which only allows one boff companion, like New Romulus... that's the only one it finds. And department head slots for which that boff isn't eligible, don't get filled.

It doesn't actually affect gameplay, but I do find it hugely annoying. (A recent patch did pull the camera back from the department heads' faces... so we get a better view of the wrong officers... if that fix made the to-do list, surely we can hope for a fix to this issue?)

The problem does have some real consequences - in single-boff maps it can mess up your away team; more than one I've tried to enter one of the New Romulus missions to find that, instead of my normal away team, I've got my single companion boff and three security guards.

Ok agreed it is annoying, just like a bug you can not seem to be able to swat, but it isn't breaking the game. There are a few more serious issues that need, or able being tackled at the moment.

it's just a case of living with it

Yeah, it's really annoying to see your officers being reset to other stations all the time.

    I support this.

Your observations lead me to where the problem probably lies. I've noticed that the "Charlie's Angels" shot on the loader screen sets the BOFFS based on your Away Team set up. I think this problem has existed every since the "Charlie's Angels" addition. I would rather they got rid of that, if it would fix the problem.

Who's assigned to the main away team doesn't have any effect on it. Tovan Khev used to keep popping up despite it but that stopped. Away team does affect bridges though - only your away team have a chance of showing up, but it's mostly random unnamed npcs that show up, Romulan bridge is the worst for this as only one away team and Tovan Khev appear on the bridge. This bugs with department heads and bridges has been around since LoR launched so that says a lot.

It's even worse than you think.

The way your Boffs stand in your Charlie's Angels poster screen? It's based not on something simple like the order you have them in your away team, but on when they joined your crew.

I had to fire and rehire and retrain three different people to get my sig screenshot. And purple science Klingon BOffs are damned expensive!

Are we positive this has no effect on gameplay? Don't those department heads drive the suggested DOFFs for duty assignments?

Even if not, it would be better to just omit the function than push something out that obviously received zero QA testing.

I still get Tovan promoting himself from latrine duty to First Officer, Head of Tactical and Security. I blame him.

I think the problem is game breaking...and it is related to two other problems relating to BOFFS:

    1. The way boffs and what boffs show on your ship bridges

    2. The lack of a bridge officer showing during FIRST CONTACT MISSIONS....making them impossible to play and therefore...BROKEN since the expansion.

Until a moderator comes to the forum stating that these problems are not related i will have this theory.
