when i try to join an STF i get disconnected then when i log back in it says " you cant join a queue from this map" then says " you are temporarily banned from joining queues" ......
anyone having this issue?
or are STFs bugged?
(it doesnt even show the queues im banned from nor does it show how long for lol)
It should be an hour ban. You can see the time remaining on the bottom of the PvE window. Maybe with red letters.
It is not a bug. It is a penalty for those who quit on purpose from STF Elite missions, but the system cannot see the difference between "lost connection to server" and the "real quitting."
Sorry i am not a native speaker, i hope you understand.
It's also been speculated that one of the reasons they didn't bother to differentiate between quitting on purpose and losing connection is that the quitters would simply shut off the game, disconnect their internet, reboot their computer to get around the temporary ban.
Which would be in line with things I've seen in other games like "Navy Field".
There were players so obsessed with their win ratio that every time they were close to getting blown off the map...they had a disconnect...and it were always the same people.
I'm pretty sure they just pulled their ethernet cable when they saw the finishing salvo flying towards them.

and in a game that had a stable connection, this would not be an issue...
or just a simply better system would solve the problem :S
It happens to me all the time with "The cure ". The map doesnt load and I disconnect, then i'm banned.. Other estfs dont have this problm, but the one does.. i dont know why..
Well no offense, but going into a team depending mission, knowing that your connection is unstable... That kinda qualifies for a 1 hour ban.
so basically the game is unstable (admitted by cryptic themselves, now some solutions are presented with more or less success), and unpredictable at that.
so basically I pay for the game, that not only is unstable, but actually punishes me for IT being unstable (and no problem on my end)
No the games free to play, so you aren't paying for the game. If you are subbing all you are paying for are the Gold perks listed here and the vet rewards.
oh. then its ok to dump loads of money into the game, so I can haz shiny ships, that I can maybe see if the game decides to log in, and if the game crashes on loadscreen, and punishes me for it, it is my fault, that I expected to play with the ships I have bought (appearantly for eyecandy).
as I realized how wrong my thinking was, I wired a 100$ to Cryptic, and no zen is required for it, and I have set up a regular transfer for this amount, forever, so they will get money no matter how they perform

The game may be free to play, but it's also a paid game as well. You can pay for a sub. LTS or Zen for the C-store, so it is paid and as paying customers players have a right to have a reliable game. You may pay for item A in game but if the game keeps crashing are you getting your money if you can't use it?
If it was entirely F2P there would be no store, subscriptions and the like. More accurate it is a Play to win game. Even more so today than it was 1 and 1/2 years ago when the F2P system was first introduced.

I havnt had a single instance of lag or "Server not responding" in two weeks... Before LoR launch, I almost never had them either.
Sorry guys... I am not buying it... Yea, the game was unstable for a few weeks after LoR launch, but thats over. Them admitting unstability for a period does not mean that its always unstable.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

since then they added a list of programs that can cause the issue, and it did help (altho as afterburner did not cause any issue like that for the past year and a half until last week's patch)
edit.: and the instability with that is basically since the release of LoR, so again, it is not us who should be punished for trying to actually play the game. tho atleast(?) they are also punished by losing not a few customers due to these issues

yea i had the same issue a few days ago,
I got disconnect when i was about to press Join
on a pve queue mission, and when i got back on
i was ban from pve queues.

Not Always..., but lately..., Quite Often.
I too very rarely had SNR's before LoR hit with my high-end computer and connection...,
Now..., It's a regular thing.
I haven't changed anything on my end.

I've disconnected from elites and normal runs, but I always was able to get back into the active run. Maybe the run was completed or a new person joined the active run since there was a spot open?
Well I didn't disconnect or Quit the STF. I warped to another sector when the "engage" window popped up saying it was time to go in and now I'm banned for an hour. Well now I know to stay put and wait.
The thing happened to me when I was about to change zones/sector.
The engage window was open, I clicked engage and changed to the next zone.
I never even zoned into the STF and got the message that I cannot join from this zone in the next sector.
I think there is a bug in the system and it is strange that you get a ban for nothing being able to join but going afk is fine
(Although I learned not to change zones with this window open now)

So because the game is unstable (server not responding and crashing) the player is the one punished for it? That makes absolutely no sense mate.

somewhere in here there is a comment from a dev stating that one of their ports is wrong, I wont search it for you
