An escort with good shields narrows it down. The Kumari is definitely out.

    Are you in a fleet?

Well then I would suggest one of the andorian vessels.

This made me laugh inside. Escort with good shields then the choice is narrowed a bit.
If you did the winter event then the breen ship is a good option.

Mirror advanced escort does the trick as well.

Jem hadar bug is notorious for its tanking ability.

Probably the most recommended vessel will be the fleet tactical escort.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Which doesn't change my previous answer. There is no overall best ship. There are ships that are best at doing certain things, but there is no end-all I'm top dog period ship.

Easy answer for this question but the answer creates all new questions. The answer is Any lockbox ship, any lobi ship, and T5 shipyard fleet ship, and any T5 zen ship is the best. How they all are the best depends on the player themselves.

Really OP you should learn to decide what is best for you and not what other people think is best. life is much better when you stop caring about what everyone else has or uses especialy when the question is of a subjective answer.

    Ok. Here are the questions.

    1. What is your goal? Is it it PVE? (Fleet Alerts, STFs, Dilithium farming?) Or do you want to shame your friends at PVP?

    2. If it is PVE, then what class are you? (Sci, Engineer, Tac,)

    3. Do you want to tank? Run Sci Skills or DPS.

    4. What is your skill level. You can put a great player in any ship and win or a lousy player and struggle. If you are a Sci, then there is a even greater premium on skill.

    5. Science: The vesta is probably the best, but you can have great success with the Nebula and others. The key is to have strong aux power levels and know what skills to use.

    6. Engineering: Are you a tank or Dps? Guides the trade off between tac consoles and engineering consoles.

    7. Tac: It is all about DPS and high weapons power. You need an escort with 5 tac consoles. Pretty hard to beat the tac kumari at this point. Takes some time to learn how to use it. Also, player skill on the minimum tanking skills is important as well. But you should be able to so a scary amount of dos with this ship. Also, you are a tac you are supposed to be a glass cannon.

It really was though. I mean I invoked the Almighty Oberth. There's no need to go any further.

    ;)

I would have gone with the Danube-class Runabout myself.

Best Fedships allround imho are the steamrunner, vesta , fleet assault cruiser.

    The timeships are great too.

Other than that there are some very good ones, fleet exelsior, fleet patrol, fleet tactical escort.

Depending on situation all ships can be very good, some are just more specialized than others.
    Cruisers ftw!

The best FED ship is the Armitage.

    Very good look.
    Very good console layout
    Very good BOFF layout

The Torpedo Point Defense could be deadly in PVPs, if you know how to use it.
The Hangar bay can be nasty for foes, if you know how to use it.

It is the most balanced ship:
    Very Good at Survivability
    Very Good at Dps

All other ships lack in something, but the Armitage got everything.

Um... you can get an Intrepid class at Tier 3, and you can get a fleet version... so... I dunno why you're asking. And no, you do not see any of those characters in game.

I personally enjoy the vesta and the kumari for my fed science captain. They both can use DHC and they pack a punch. I like how the andorian phasers actually punch thru shields much better than any of the fed phasers including the ones like the Aux and the Quads.

I am looking at buying a ship when I hit Commander rank. My free ships have been the light cruiser and cruiser. The ship is slow and slow to turn. I've put all my resources into building it like a tank. I'm thinking of getting one of the escorts or science ship. I am a tactical captain. I find that my science officer can't use all her skills because it's an ensign station. I'm looking for a touch ship that can maneuver. I will probably collect different ships later on. Also, I've got the very rare nanite cannons that are 3x CtD that won't work on my Cruiser.

If those Nanite Disruptor cannons are mk XII and your about to hit Commander you can't use them on any ship.

For me I'd take the Akira or Escort class. The C-Store version looks like a beefed up version and comes with a great console. Of the cruisers I'd actually go the Support Cruiser or Ambassador, just run Temporal Ambassador to get the box. (I'm sure the T3 version is available just not the T5)

The new console in the T3 Excelsior is pretty terrible compared to the Thunderchilds. The original console it had was very very good.

    T3 = Tier 3 = Commander level ships or Levels 20 to 30.
    T5 = Tier 5 = End game ships starting at Level 40.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.

In regards to my previous post...siiiiigh the bug ship (Jem'hadar Attack Ship) being the best....I stand by my original statement which is that it WAS the best tac ship in game. However, the devs must have decided to nerf it because it's NOT that great. As a matter of fact, personally I think I prefer my Fleet Tac Escort retro over the bug ship.

Now I have tried various set ups on this, including the Borg Mk XII set, and the Jem'hadar Mk XII set with disruptors (which are being nerf's on the next big patch) and Polaron weapons. Tried a dual beam/hvy cannons set up, and all cannons. While I'll say ditch the beam (alpha strike) notion as it's been nerf'd badly, this ship kinda sucks now.

Going private PvP with another vet, we switched back and forth between our Tac toons with our bug ships and Sci toons in the Wells Sci ship....end result....stalemate on both sides.

This wasn't always true for the bug ship, however it is the case now. It's still got some maneuverability but you can set up a Fleet Tac Escort Retro to be just as maneuverable. We even tried various boff set ups and different abilities...the best for the bug was a 2 Romulan tac with rapid fire 1 and 2, 2 tac teams, and Omega 1 and 3. 2 engineer boffs with 2 emergency power to shields and a rotate shield. And 1 sci with Transfer shield strength. I'm still partial to the jem set but no matter how ya slice it, this ship just isn't what it use to be...

So for those of you saving or thinking of dropping 400 million EC on this boat, go buy some consoles or something, you're money will be better spent on that. This ship was never worth 400,000,000 EC and it's DEFINITELY NOT worth it now.

The best cruiser is the assault cruiser refit in my opinion. The wide angle torpedo launcher gives you a huge advantage, you can have 7 beams and a powerful torpedo launcher on your enemy at all times. It also allows you two have two tactical officers with torpedo spread 2 allowing you to absolutely spam torpedoes with a 180 degree arc. Plus it has a good turn rate for a ship it's size, the metreon gass console, and is the coolest looking cruiser in my opinion. It is a premium ship though and costs 2,500 zen, but if your going to buy a cruiser that's the one to buy, it's easily my favorite ship in the game and i have a Jem?Hadar Dreadnought Carrier.

    Best Fed cruiser DPS

    PvE
Galaxy-X - High firepower with 4x DHC's and turrets, especially combined with DEM3 and emergency power to weapons 3 (which with an Aux2Bat build you can happily cycle with emergency power to shields 3). With a 2x Aux2Bat build you should be able to use CRF as if you had two instances of the power. Even with all the Borg spheres using emergency power to engines, it's turnrate isn't much of an issue.

Fleet Assault Cruiser - Can use 3x Romulan tact boffs (you don't need a Lt Sci power, even for an ESTF). The fleet excelsior is an alternative, but it's turnrate isn't needed, nor is it's ensign engineer slot. Plus the FAC can use 2x tact team 1.

    PvP
Fleet excelsior - High maneuverability is a huge help to tanking and the excelsior is the most maneuverable fed cruiser that doesn't need a special console. As such it should be able to stay alive and deal damage at the same time... Well as much damage as a non DHC wielding cruiser can do.

The Gal-X would be an option, but it's low maneuverability makes it a sitting duck and pretty worthless for PvP. Maybe after it gets saucer sep.

Best Fed cruiser Tanking/Healing PvP & PvE
Odyssey - High shields plus saucer sep console means it should have no problem keeping itself alive while helping others at the same time.

I'd almost put this ship under DPS as well, but that's really pushing it to do something it's not made for. You can do it, but the amount of effort and lost tanking ability would make the effort wasted when you could just fly one of the others. If you wanted to major in tanking, but also do okay DPS when it's called for the Odyssey is easily the best choice.

    Best science ship
Vesta - It can be pretty much any type of sci-ship you want, can equip DHC's and has hanger pets.

    Best Escort
    PvE
Heavy Escort Carrier - Used to be a top of the line ship, with it's Lt Cmdr engineer station, now it's rather poor in comparison to ships like the Mogai and lock box escorts. The Ens tac station is a waste, but you can atleast use it for a rommie boff to boost your crits. It's only real advantage are it's hanger pets.

It's hanger pets, specifically the elite scorpions and peregrines, are great for ESTFs what with all the unshielded targets for their torps to hit.

Khyzon - 5x forward slots plus 4x sci-consoles make this a huge DPSer that's also a okay tank.

    PvP
Tactical Escort retrofit - As said above, high maneuverability is king and this ship is one of the most maneuverable the feds have. Also it's one of the best damage dealers which when combined with the cloak makes it great for alpha strikes. However it's tanking relies mostly on it's maneuverability.

    Khyzon - Again
    Previously Alendiak
    Daizen - Lvl 60 Tactical - Eclipse
    Selia - Lvl 60 Tactical - Eclipse

I've used 2 of the 3 Andorian ships so i'll pass on my, limited, knowledge.

Kumari- Big firepower, but ZERO durability. I got 1 or 2 shot killed more times then I could count. The 3rd tac boff almost seems a waste

Charal- Only, slightly less firepower then Kumari, but a vast improvement in durability, better boff layout as well.

I'd guess the sci version would be a continuation of this trend above, less power but even more durable.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.
