Department Head Random Reassignment

I'm getting sick of this bug.

The Doff system keeps reassigning my Department Heads at random, often making the same BOFF head of every department!

The worst it got was when my tactical officer was in every slot!

Cryptic needs to fix this!

And preferably, they need to add a LOCK function, so that if you want to, the BOFF cannot be changed unless you unlock them.

Yup.. this + the station BOFFs (incl. char selection screen) and Tray mess ups and the not deletable mail messages are bothering me most at the moment.

I just noticed this as well, this morning. It's surprisingly annoying...

    Please fix it!

And shortly after I posted that, I spent an hour or two ingame running around Doffing.

On average, once every 15 minutes, I had to keep putting my BOFFs back where they were meant to be!

I notice this happening in ESD, but not in Sector Space.

I think it has something to do with loading. I may sound crazy and/or stupid, since I probably don't have the knowledge to accurately describe what I'm seeing, but... it seems the game "loads in" your Bridge Officers slower in some areas, and this can result in it reassigning where your Boffs are placed in the Department Head window. If it loads in who your department heads are a split second before it loads in your Boffs, then those slots are going to come up empty.

That's just my guess though. In such a case, however, I don't think a "lock" feature would work, since it's technically already supposed to be locking in Boffs anyway. If the system thinks those boffs don't exist, even when they do, a lock feature wouldn't help.

For me, it happens most often when map switching.

    No idea why.

But sometimes it will happen when I'm just standing around, so the map move can't be all of it.

And that happened just now, I've been on the same map for a while now and the boffs just got reassigned again!

Well, this is annoying but not really game breaking or anything. Still, a fix would be appropriate.

My Orion Female White Diplomatic Exchange Officer resets every time I switch maps--switching to my senior Science BOFF. (the exchange officer from before the DOFF system took effect). Since that White Diplomatic Exchange Officer BOFF is a science officer, I have duplicated the reset 100% of the time when switching maps in both Science and Medical department heads.

No other BOFF on my roster resets when placed as a department head, including my Purple Female Orion BOFF obtained from Diplomatic CXP.

Did you buy more boff slots? It seems to be happening on my my toon and thought this might be the reason why.

Yes, I bought around 6 or 8, not sure.

With the amount of new BOFFs cryptic keeps adding, I had to expand my roster beyond it's normal limits to get spaces for the new crewmembers.

I think that is the reason why. I just went through my toons again and it's just my main one that is screwed up.

*Edit* Ignore that. Still happening on one of my KDF toons. May be it is on toons created before a certain point? My main and this Klingon are very old. My main since launch.

I have had the random department head reassignment issue on all my toons, regardless of the creation date or whether I have bought additional BOFF spaces for the toon. It's pretty annoying, although not game breaking. Still, I'd love to see a fix.

What kills me about this bug? Is that it was fixed a few patches back! I was soo happy - and its since been reverted =<. I guess it must be linked to another bug they are trying to fix.

Apparently, the root issue is that the game has developed a nasty habit of forgetting that your boffs exist in some way. This results in the spots where they were formerly seated going blank, and only refreshing themselves when you click there, and often not at all, resulting in your tray being mangled and all your boffs going AWOL in the middle of an STF.

It is caused by this bug

    http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/7885/30hn.jpg

Since some of your boffs fail to load on map change and then they don't "exist" when you open the doff window. That causes the game to replace the missing boffs in the department head tab with the ones that actually loaded. The bug is solved by clicking on a missing boff slot, at least until the next map change when it happens again (sometimes).

I wonder if this is related to the Bridge NPC issue?

To explain, whenever I visit my bridge, around half of the NPCs are the nameless generic BOFFs that appear when you don't actually have a full complement of BOFFs.

I actually have more then the required number, so I was used to seeing all my specifically designed BOFFs and none of the generic ones.

I hope they fix this before the Department Head Passive update rolls around.

To explain, that update gives your department head BOFFs passive upgrades.
But well, if they're randomly removed, they aren't getting their passives are they?

So wait, this bug was fixed, then broken again?
I wish I could say I was surprised, but I'm not.

Whatever it is, it's getting really annoying. Dept. Heads is a nice eye candy thing, but the whole affair actually affects gameplay. Needs addressing, but I guess we'll see the Rom 1000 day ship first....

As you can see from the screenshot I posted, it is happening on my bridge and only one BOFF was loaded, the rest were the "generic" boffs you get if you don't have the correct type to display them.
It is the same bug affecting the department heads, the missing boffs on the bridge map, the "my boffs have been replaced by ships" bug and it is what occasionally causes all boffs from un-equipping themselves. On some foundry missions it even prevented my away team from beaming over, leaving me alone or with a reduced team to finish the ground mission.

This glitch is really annoying, somehow it seems to be living at the bottom the repair list since it's been going on so long.

I like that locking function for the department heads mentioned above. also wish they would fix the bridge area so that you can select a chair/station and select yourself which Bridge Officer goes where. Especially since unless your First officer is default Tactical and has no communication with the department head selection screen.

I was very disappointing to see the release notes for tomorrow and this was not mentioned.

Yet the horrifying problem of tints being off on some romulan uniforms is being resolved. Priorities FAIL.

And still not fixed and still pretty annoying.

I don't mind having a reformed Borg as the medical head officer because I trust him, but I doubt sick crew members enjoy waking up and being welcome by a Borg who has one bionic eye and the other black with implants looking like they're plugged into it.

Also, there is this weird UI bug where zoning and pressing U causes the game to list a few of your BOFFs as ships with their name written in CAPS.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one annoyed by this. I know its relatively minor but considering there is so much that the game entails that a real ship captain would have to deal with (for example the duty officer assignments that reflect realistic mundane maintenance issues) this is on the same wavelength. Yes, my one science officer is just a science officer but he is my Chief Medical Officer and wears the uniform to prove it. Yet he's always seems to be replaced in the Department Heads area. And the whole bridge thing is annoying too. I don't want to see random generic characters on my bridge. I want to see MY STAFF. And NY poor first officer is never anywhere to be found but there's always someone in what should be his chair. Yes, color it as a "minor bug" but please plan on resolving it eventually.
