Question regarding STO Collectors Edition - Red Matter Redemption Codes

Hello,

Just wondering about the specifics of the STO Collectors Edition.

The STO Collectors Edition (looking off eBay) includes 10-day and 30-day free trials. Does this code unlock the Red Matter Capacitor device for all characters on an account?

Or must I install the game via the STO Collectors Edition disc, in order to get the device?

    You need the Activation code to unlock the Red matter Capacitor...

    (Think about it, anyone can use that DVD-ROM to install the game countless times, but the activation code is bound to account, and can only be used once...)

    Yes. Generally there will be a code in the box that you need to add to your account which will unlock the item(s). Usually the code is part of the serial key used for creating a new game account, but often times you could add the serial key to your existing account and being able to claim any bonus items in the game.

    Inside the package is an activation code and a link to a web site. Its the old activation site, but its still up and working. Punch your code into the site and it will add some flags to your existing account. You'll be asked how you want to pay for your subscription, but at the bottom of the list is an ignore/later option, which skips past it. Once you're done with that, you can go to the in-game Zen Store and claim the RMC on each of your ships. It also upgraded my bank storage on each character as well as the shared account bank storage, couple of other perks too (I dont know if this is special to where I bought it or if its common).

    Specifically what type of activation code are we talking about? The 10-day free trial, 30-day free trial, a separate code...?

    The one you want is the 30-day free trial code, which has the associated 'perks' for the retail package. The 10-day free trial codes are essentially 'guest' pass codes, without any perks.

    I have seen a couple places advertising just the code and claiming you can get the benefits that way. Is this a scam?

    They are scams. Avoid them like a plague.

    Upon further investigation it looks like a scam site.

    I am having issues ordering zen. I belong to a federal credit union in the US and they've denied me the ability to use my credit/debit card overseas without first contacting the bank.

    I guess I could try paypal first.
