I dont know if any of you guys like me are eagerly waiting for the Scimitar 3 pack to arrive. If you play the updated Azure Nebula Rescue and get a Scimitar its the new falchion varient from I assume the coming pack!

It looks like the normal Scimitar but with extra forward badass spikes in the wings.

I want it! :D

I think that the "new" model is a new NPC model, because from screens I've seen it looks like a really poor texture (the norm for many NPC ships). Doubtlessly the player ships will be quite different.

I hope you're right because I logged in specifically to check it out and the model/texture quality is beyond awful. If I were cryptic I'd be ashamed to be selling that garbage for 2500 zen.
I really really hope they'll make some major improvements before players get their hands on them.
I want to love the ship but as it stands now...it looks like a waste of money for a flying brick with wings.:(

Still looks rather flat but the lighting really does make a world of difference , unless that's a newer model?

In the name of the great bird of the galaxy, what is up with that? Looks like it should be an ELINT ship or something.

I have to agree it does look a little 'unrefined' i'm 100% sure the finished product will look as amazing as all the other player ships in the game.

it honestly looks like a placeholder, likely sela's ship shares a similar model to the one that they are making in the pack. They will replace both models in one go when they are ready to release the scimitar 3-pack.

Yeah, the close ups show some work is needed. Looks like its missing part of its underside wing in that screen. Being optimistic I am going to call it a placeholder too. But its a hint of what we are going to see.

I just noticed that the effect for Donatra's thalaron weapon changed in the last patch - maybe as a prelude to a new special console attack in the Scimitar 3-pack?

    Cheers!

My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.

What's the Graphical change look like? If I recall it used to be a big green cone/swirl. What is it now?

This is not new. It is, however, a variant that's been around for ages.

I make the following predictions about the the three different types.

    Special Skill 1: Ramming speed:
One of the ships will have a ramming function. The main deflector focuses all the ships shield energy into the forward quadrant and the engines go into max impulse +20% speed boost. The impact delivers enormous kinetic impact damage to even the largest ships. enemy targets are left adrift for several seconds with massive energy loss and engines taken offline. Attacking vessel is also left adrift but with most systems except engines still operational. Against massed targets like spheres or probes the ram mode literally sends them scattered up to 3-4km away from their position. Larger ships like cubes the effect isnt as noticeable. Cubes could lose up to 20% of their hull, smaller ships up to 50-75% if impacted without shields.

Special skill 2: Focused long range fire.
This skill enables increased targeting range of allied and the player Scimitar ship by 30-50%. Any allied ship within 5km of the Scimitar gets increased energy weapon target attack range. Also rate of fire is increased as well as a slight buff to power to slow the power drop off due to the increased range. Another bonus is the Scimitar can also during this time direct what subsystem to target so if those pesky mad spheres are running away you can direct all ships to target their engines beyond their 10km range. Give the Borglets something to think about! The effect lasts for around 15 seconds.

I also predict at least one of the three, probby the tac version will have 5 forward guns and 2 aft.

Why would they give the Scimitar a special ramming speed? It's not like the Scimitar rammed the Enterprise, it was the other way around. So no, I don't see this happening and it would be a stupid waste of a unique ability anyway.

If we're making predictions here, I would predict ALL 3 variants come with 5 fore weapons and 3 aft, as well as 2 hangar bays. After all the Scimitar has pretty much the largest array of weapons arsenal of any familiar ship ever seen in Star Trek and is even bigger than a Jem'Hadar dreadnought.

There are some pics of the special consoles out there on the web now. www.Reddit.com/r/sto has some.

Singularity Distributor - shields up while cloaked

Secondary shielding for 45s - adds 15k shields

    Cloaked Barage for 15s

Rapid Maneuvering Thrusters is 2 console set bonus

Thalaron blast is the 3-console set bonus

NPC ships are at reduced graphics. PC ships will be more graphically detailed.

Looks like I was right about at least 1 of the Scimitar variants having 5 fore and 3 aft weapons. I bet the other 2 variants also have the same weapon layout.

This is the 1st set where i would use all three consoles.

    1. Shooting while cloaked sounds useful ...
    2. Shields while clokaed sounds useful ...
    3. Secondary shielding with 15k bonus sounds useful too ...

+ 2 set bonus better turnrate + 3 set bonus thalaron weapon
