But this is to anyone that got the premier rare ship from a lock box. How many keys did you go through? I been thinking about dropping 20 on keys for my card boxes
Back when the dilithium was trading favorably and zen ran like water, I would be able to buy one, sometimes two, keys per day just doing what I normally do. I never kept count but I'm sure I was pushing seventy five boxes or more open before the real world got in the way of my gaming.
Nothing. But I made a fortune in EC by selling off the doff packs.
There are 3 Klingon mirror universe ships available on the exchange. I believe 2 are raptor classes, which is about the equivalent of a federation escort. If your in desperate need thats the cheapest way. I've brought all my ships from the exchange like others have stated.
I bought both the box ships I got on the exchange for about 70 million each.
One time I did want an item from a box. I expected to have to grind every last lobi out and not get one single useful item.
I wasn't disappointed.
Haven't opend a single box since and luckily there is nothing I want.
To sum up I never got anything useful from a box, not even EC wise, the item I grinded I am not even using and I don't open boxes at all.
Of course if they released say a borg carrier or something actually cool I'd have to go to work.
But I'd never throw money at something I don't know what I am buying. I'd rather grind 3 years for a ship than spend 1$ on keys.
If I threw 200 $ at a ship and it turned out I didn't like it? Ouch
I managed to get a Galor in my first 10-pack of keys... but that was from a Gold lockbox, which is rarer than hen's teeth nowadays. I've since spent maybe 60-80 keys (including the 30 from the Legacy Pack) and received no ships.
Oh, and the Galor? I sold it on the Exchange for around 100mil EC, because I wanted a D'kora instead... but the C-Store purchase that removes the 10mil EC cap limit failed. I lost all but that 10mil from the sale. Poof, gone.

Dilithium Claims - They made it that easier to get dilithium per day than any other way , so now i have 6 toons that are bringing in 30k Dilithium for average of 12mins work .....
When the Dominion ones came out. I opened up 5 to see what they would do. I got one ship out of it. Which was one of the "mirror" ships. Got a turret weapon, 2 duty officers, and several lobi.
I agree with one that said. Someone has to open up the boxes. Or eventually you will run out of the goodies for the Exchange. For those buyers.
USS Casinghead NCC 92047 launched 2350
Fleet Admiral Stowe - Dominion War Vet.
I bought my temporal science ship on the exchange. its much less work to simply grind out the EC. Ec are not too hard to make if you know what your doing and your prepared to put in the time.
Since then I have been opening boxes to earn the lobi to buy the set to go on my science ship from the lobi store. Again buying keys on the exchange. So far ive gone through 90 keys and got a whole lot of doffs... Also I got some doffs. And I got some more doffs. Lots and lots of doffs.... yup that's all.
Moral of the story. Open boxes for lobi and doffs, you wont be disappointed. But if you open them for ships you are quite likely to become a sad bunny.
Moral of the story. Open boxes for lobi and doffs, you wont be disappointed. But if you open them for ships you are quite likely to become a sad bunny.
This is the truth, right here.
When I open lockboxes, I expect to get lobi and doffs. If I get anything else, I'm pleasantly surprised, but I don't go in expecting any of the rare prizes. Over time I've pulled two grand prize ships and lots of 2nd-tier prizes like purple doffs, but I never approached lockboxes with the expectation I would get any of that stuff.
Ultimately, if I want a nifty 10-console ship, there are less expensive ways to do so (3-ship pack and/or fleet ships), and grinding EC isn't that hard for buying the grand prize ships on the exchange.
Oh right, I forgot that I received a Fed Mirror Advanced Escort from a box. That was part of the 30 keys I had from the Legacy pack.
And I forgot because the things only sell for 70k on the exchange. At that price, I'll just hold onto it until I can figure out something better to do with it.

**** man thats the sort of thing that would happen to me! I want the D'kora so F'ing much! It would make role playing my ferengi way more immersive but unfortunately every time i have looked on the exchange there aren't any of them for sale ;.-[
Only ship I've managed to get is the Mirror Ha'feh Assault Warbird. I think I probably opened somewhere in the region of 10-15 boxes. But I never opened them all at once, a few keys here and there etc over a period of time.
TBH its completely luck of the draw, isn't it something like a 0.04% chance of getting a ship or something. I mean some people open their first box and get an Adapted Destroyer straight off.

"You have not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Klingon, taH pagh, taH be"
I received a Wells Timeship in my 7th Temporal Lock Box.
I also got a Jem Hadar Attack Ship in my 1 and only Fleet Module Support Pack when the special ship offer was on.

I find it hard to believe that there are zero D'kora's listed on the exchange under Reward Packs.
But if it's true...it just might be time to sell my 3rd one for a nice hefty fee.
It takes me a good long while to even get a million EC by itself.
8000 Dil a day = 8 uncommon unreplicatiable crafting materials a day, sold at 125K each = 1Mil EC a day = 30 Mil EC a month
500 Zen stipend a month = 4 keys a month, sold at 1.5 Mil EC each = 6 Mil EC a month
Total = 36 Mil EC a month.
Plus what drops sell for, that vary based on the missions flown. I can get 5 Mil EC a month on average.
Actual income = 41 Mil EC a month currently. The market value for all items fluctuates, so my actual income varies slightly, but you get the idea.
Edit:
You can also 'Farm' missions for items that sell for enormous sums of EC on the market. Find a mission that does not bore you too much that gives loot you know you can sell that day on the exchange.
I am not currently doing this method completely as my Dil is going to fleet projects, but when I need the EC I do it until I get my target EC plus some to spare.
Also, doing the short Tour the Universe run a few times (ten collections, which isn't even three full laps) will get you 1Mec, and if you're fast, lucky, and have a really good connection to the game servers, you can get mad dosh erry day (I see a couple guys that can do 50+ collections consistently  ).
Every new lock box, someone does the mass openings to find out the drop rate and it always comes out as .5%, or 1 out of every 200 on average. Yeah, it is definitely better to just sell keys for what you want.
yup that's about right give or take I opened 292 boxes before the ship ...take their advice just buy it off the exchange less butthurt that way
**** man thats the sort of thing that would happen to me! I want the D'kora so F'ing much! It would make role playing my ferengi way more immersive but unfortunately every time i have looked on the exchange there aren't any of them for sale ;.-[
Like a few others mentioned, just leave the default search options alone and enter "d'kora" in the search field. The first page or two will probably be the holograms, but there's usually at least one real D'kora for sale. I've seen them range from 70m up to 350m, but most often they're listed for around 90-95m.
Oh, and I did manage to get one more ship: a mirror Advanced Escort. Which is so common it sells for around 70,000 EC.
I'm slowly earning the EC I need, but I'm only up to about 33 million right now. Gonna take a while for that D'kora.

buy 1K zen, use rest of dil to get 125 zen, then get 10-key pack, open 10 boxes
if successful, then HUZZAH
if not, I'm going to the slow saving way.

junk junk junk junk junk junk, sell it all on exchange for slightly cheaper than anyone else to be sure to get the cash...
and 1 elite purple klingon doff pack that i'll also sell for big dosh
they sell for a couple mil, especially klingon which is almost twice as expensive as fleet versions, so it seems like a good pull

Need we say more ?
The ship drop was the nice to have -
16 keys to obtain the Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier.
Several hundred energy credits to obtain both timeships and the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier.

Yes i feel sorry for you!
You could have bought it from exchange and save all that money but as they say "a fool and his money is soon parted'.

But they are on the exchange. Several of them. Cheapest at present is 85.5 million. Search under all not reward packs.

Although, I won two Tuffli's pretty quickly by opening DOFF packs.
