Did I miss something? (Spoilers) Khev Reunion

I think I may have clicked through some dialog too fast. When I find Rinna Khev, there's an option to give her and Tovan some time together. Following that, Tovan says "Rinna!"

And then she gets beamed up.

So, did I accidentally click or F-mash through the rest of their reunion dialog?

    Nope. That's all there is.

I assume their proper reunion took place on the way back to New Romulus.

Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

It has been remarked on the for all the build-up the reunion falls flat. The same can be said about Veril and her father (he is a corpse in Installation 18).

EDIT: Seems like I messed up, Veril's father was one of those you try to rescue in the Elachi station along with D'Vex.

Yeah, I find the whole reunion thing to be rather anti climactic. All the build up, heck I even got an accolade for being a good friend/captain and not giving up the search, and when we finally find her, you get pretty much nothing.

I didn't even notice that about Veril's father being there. She certainly didn't comment at all about it. It is strange that both of these conflicts were presented as kind of a big deal, at least to the people involved, but then the story gives no payoff for either one.

Just another in the long list of reasons I'll be happy when the devs finally allow us to discharge Tovan so I never have to see him again.

Veril father wasn't in installation18 but rather on board the Elachi station in the incubation room one where you save captives. But yes it's was rather upsetting not have Veril say anything about her father. As for the Khev's all I can say is I got upset after Tovan made me asked the whole Quadrants for his sister and all I get is Rinna!

You know, I was disappointed too. I expected more.

I almost forgot about Veril's father... Didn't even know that was him in the incubation tube.

    WOW, how anti-climatic...

yes, I was wondering why he was so intent on you spending time to look for her...I pictured her joining the boff crew and getting another purple boff but no...nothing...nada and it really is a totally missed opportunity for great story that the dev's completely messed up on...same thing for Veril's father...:(

I also expected a BOff, or at the very least a DOff. I mean, we get a Doff of someone we barely talked to in the tutorial, and a BOff of a guy only mentioned by name!

And I had no idea that the Reman corpse was Veril's father. He was introduced in a mission so long ago that I had forgotten his name. Good catch.

Side note: it's kind of a bummer that some of the captives you can "save" end up just falling down dead.

The boff person is actually in the tutorial as well. Just a short segment though.

I agree. If players earn the accolade for asking about her, that should unlock a special cutscene, and a special BOFF for our efforts. Same with Veril's father. Active searching for him should open up the possibility of his successful rescue and possibly a special DOFF for our efforts.

To me, it almost seems like they had different writers who weren't communicating. They made a buildup about revealing the Tal Shiar's true nature to Chavra (the romulan chick who tries to recruit you into the Tal Shiar)and then nothing happens. it just starts up with the Elachi and the rest is forgotten.

Well I can see Chavra returning at a later date since she adamant that the Tal'shair are right. I can also see her as part of the republic intelligent agent. Either way she will make her come back one way or other.

Pretty much this. Chavra I understand. Her last scene indicates, despite everything that unfolded, She still adamantly believes the Tal Shiar are right and working in the best interest of the Romulan People. Presumably D'Tan's group is still trying to convince her that she is wrong.

But Rinna? Seriously, all that work and nothing. Honestly, I wouldn't mind not getting a Doff or Boff, if I would just get a tearful reunion in the form or a cutscene or even dialogue.

I mean we aren't vulcans here, We are romulans, we are emotional by nature and here we have a major focus for Tovan and what do we get. Barely an acknowledgement that, yes she in fact is Tovan sister.

Yuo meet Khev and Veril before they join the Republic and before they have been brainwashed by D'Tan, so they still have their emotions. In later episodes, after the brainwash, they have already lost their emotions and they stopped carring about family. Veril apparently was more susceptible to the process, Khev still needs some one on one sessions with D'Tan. It makes perfect sense, he is turning them slowly into emotionless vulcan drones. Doo you see now who is the bad guy in this game?!

Oh, look. The Tal'Shiar have sent someone to infiltrate the fora and spout imperialistic propaganda.

    Spoiler warning!

Only after reading this thread, I learned about Veril's father and I admit I have played the mission a couple of times. On my last play through, knowing what to expect, I found him.

You free him from one the the crya coves, but he is too much weakened and dies. Now there isn't any response or reaction from Veril. She was on my away team.

It is hard to belief the devs forgot all about it since he is there in the mission. Can that happen by accident? However it also illustrates how much we care about the story. How many of us did notice it and missed Veril's reaction? I can blame myself to, neither did I notice him on my firsts play throughs. I began to wonder, since it is so hard to belief he is there by accident, it is done on purpose. To find out how much players care about story and how much attention is paid to details.

I believe there was more to the Rinna-Tovan reunion.
On my first Romulan it was just "Rinna!" and she got beamed up, but on my second, for a split second, got another dialogue panel before she was transported to the ship. I took a screenshot of the NPC chat window:

    tovanrinnareunion_zpsf903dcd1.jpg

    Transcript:
    Tovan: "Rinna!"
Rinna: "It's true. How did you find me?"
Tovan: "I've been searching for you everywhere. You hadn't sent a message in weeks and I ... I knew something was wrong. Then I started tracking the Usa-ken and I couldn't find any trace of it. I almost lost hope, but..."

Sadly, that's it. But it seems the reunion IS there, just gets cut out because of bad event handling.

At the very least it was worthy of a small cut scence or something like that.

Indeed after all it is part of the Romulan toon storyline. It's not like you can choose to Ignore Tovan from searching for Rinna because no matter what it's was force on to us. So yes small cut scence would have be nice.

Would have been good if she joins your crew as a Doff, like Law does.

I agree there definitely should have been a cutscene for it considering that searching for her completely dominated the storyline up to that point. She was supposedly a very capable pilot so having the choice of her joining you as either a Doff or another VR Boff would have been nice.

The whole things as is now feels very anticlimactic.

Lucky. I didn't even get that.

Draba(my character): I'll give you to some time alone.
    Tovan: Rinna!"
    She immediately beams up.

Yeah, can't get Tovan to shut up about her, it infects the dialogue choices throughout the missions... and then we find her and it's a total non-event.

I was really hoping he'd sacrifice himself to save her, or something. Really, really hoping.

Seems Cryptic was rushed towards the end and just needed to get it finished asap. With the emphasis on story they were pushing its just bizarre there's no payoff to some things.

I am sure the writer wanted to explore more of this reunion.

I wonder now if it was a lack of a voice actor for Rinna. Perhaps they thought that having her part be written only wouldn't be up to VO standards of Tovan, so they just left it out entirely? If that's the case, I think that was the wrong call. If it's just a complete lack of anything written at all, that's probably worse.

Judging from the list of bug fixes for tomorrow, it was because the player's interaction with NPCs in the entire "Installation 18" adventure didn't last long enough. The code would drop you out of the scene right after Tovan's first line.
