Got a strange problem for about the last week. On 3 sships, on 3 different characters, the ship appears to be made out of green glass! At the ship selector and in the U screen the colours look normal, but in the 3d game the ship is almost translucent. I suspect it's a missing/corrupted texture but i've tried verify files twice to no avail. In case it's important the ships are Vesta cruiser class, Ha'afex warbird, mirror ha'apex (appropriately!).
Could someone point me to where the textures are stored so i can delete them and repatch? If it makes a difference I run the game through Steam.
If verifying files hasn't found anything, then there's nothing wrong with your game install, at least in this particular context. Check your graphics driver settings.
Heck, on that note, what graphics card and driver version are you using?
I suspect that you're going to suggest updating drivers, which is about as useful as your previous 'advice'. If it's all the same to you I think i'll wait till someone from tech support replies.
They generally don't reply to these threads. You have to file a support ticket with PWE for that to happen.
And they'll probably tell you the same thing.
Anyway, one suggestion: you might want to test your video card's memory, cuz if textures aren't loading properly and your game files check out okay, the next thing to suspect is either faulty drivers or faulty hardware. Just prudent to rule out faulty hardware.
This might sound stupid, but what shield do you have on your ships? And when you say green do you mean like the whole ship is green or parts of it?
Thank YOU morpheusssss! First sensible answer, it was indeed the Reman shield causing the green glass effect. I never realised that some items change the ship's appearance.
And guys it was obviously nothing to do with overheating or GPU memory, where do you get this drivel from. The fault report clearly identified that it only happened on specific ships, it wasn't a random texture problem.
I've been having a similar, perhaps related problem. I noticed that after I made SA 1 with my ROM, I bought a Escort. I had a blue VIII shield I was using and equiped it. Went to sector space and noticed I had to no white fill in for each of my shields (front, back, sides). Went into a mission instance and got blown up pretty quickly...as if I had no shields. Then I check my ship's Defensive stats and all of my shields were set to "1/-1"...so I changed shields...same problem. I went back to a different ship (my level 30 ship) and the shields worked fine.
I think it's a bug with this the level 40 escort or at least for me. From what I've read this is a common bug and there doesn't appear to be a fix that I've found.

Thanks again morpheussss
You know, people came into this thread to post and help you out, and you seem to be giving off WAY too much attitude for someone who has a problem and needs help. Why don't you bring that to a complete halt.

Perhaps if a) they'd actually read the fault report, and b) offered help beyond the 'turn it on and off again' category i'd have cut them some slack. It's also worth noting that the first person to do both of those things solved the problem and got my everlasting thanks.
Tell you what in the future just file a ticket and let them help you. You are obviously some sore of a**hole to talk TRIBBLE about people taking their time to help you. Most of us here assume you are not so stupid to not know what kind of gear you have equipped and that it has an effect associated with it.
All of the previous suggestions were valid to fix an issue with graphics displaying improperly in the game. They do not however fix the person operating the damn thing.
Thanks Nanomorph for being a decent person and trying do be a good community member... Send an in game mail to @paulyman I will reward your kindness towards others.
I had this problem i renamed the.hogg files in the cache folder under \Star Trek Online\Live\
when i started STO again it rebuilt the shader cache and everything was fixed.

Rubbish, none of them were valid for improperly displaying graphics on 3 specefic ships... except for repatching, which as stated in the fault report had already been tried. Everything suggested was the equivalent of 'switch it off and on again' and paid zero regard to what was contained in the fault report. 2 people, morpheusss and c0sm1cch33s3, actually read and digested the fault description before posting.
Free tip; the KEY to tech support is comprehending the fault description.

Thanks for that, problem is solved now but it's good to know how to force a rebuild if something similar happens in the future.

i do what i can as a developer(not for this game or company thankfully.) EA and Maxis have
similar problems when using client compile shaders and cache files. if you ever have issues
PM me and maybe i can help

Thanks, but as I said i've tried that a couple of times.

But thanks for your input.
