Talk about breaking the First Amendment - Freedom of speech!
That content was a funny if not informative video from a point of view of a player playing star trek online. There are literally thousands of people who feel the same way as what has been suggested in that video. On one hand, it alleviates tension to players who feel frustrated...getting a laugh out of that video is one way of cracking a smile despite the downtime of servers and the constant lag within the game. On the other hand, the video is a medium which serves to show the developers what is going through the mind of players when they play the new content - Lor. It sums up everything that frustrated players are feeling from when Lor first came out until now and censoring that thread only serves to anger players even further!
While every user on this forum has to abide by the rules and policy of this forum, the policy of this forum have to abide by the constitution which include the freedom of speech! I know this because Perfect World Entertainment headquarters is located in Redwood City, California, United States of America.

I'm pretty sure you are wrong. Their forum, their rules. You are on private property, so to speak. As long as no one is treated differently for ethnic/religious reasons they are free to decide that you are not allowed to use an avatar with too much red in it or forbid you from talking about carpentry...
^ Memory Alpha.org is not canon. It's a open wiki with arbitrary rules. Only what can be cited from an episode is. ^
"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
You don't have First Amendment rights on these forums. The First Amendment only restricts the government - private entities have the right to restrict whatever speech they want to. They certainly don't have to pay to provide a platform for you to say things they don't want said.
Cryptic puts up with a LOT of complaining on these forums. They don't have to do that. They could delete posts that insult them, their intelligence, their work, their work ethics, and that would barely impact their bottom line, because the vast bulk of the playerbase - even the vast bulk of their paying playerbase - never even looks at the forums. They put up with the complaining and the insults out of the goodness of their hearts.
You have a Constitutional right to go to public land and complain about STO as much as you want. You even have a right to pay for some webhosting, make a website, and say unpleasant things about the Executive Producer's relations if you so choose. But you do not have the right to say anything at all on these forums. I don't have the right to make this post on these forums. Because the First Amendment doesn't give you that right, doesn't give me that right. Because, and I can't possibly stress this enough:
this forum have to abide by the constitution which include the freedom of speech!
Freedom of speech generally does not apply to private mediums such as this.
For instance if you walked into my house and started to insult me, I would be well within my rights to tell you to shut up and get out. The government is not going to intervene in such cases.
Freedom of speech was set up to protect civil liberties, not trivial game expansions.
It was a parody, and parodies are meant to be freely spoken! Just take a look at the famous Weird Al Yanchovic, he made parodies of hundreds of songs and people liked it, nobody censored it. See?
Although I know nothing of the First Amendment (I'm an asian kid;)) But parodies are the things which reveal what is bad and ugly about something, and be later improved on, so bring it back on!
Constitutional do not apply to a private forum run by a private company. Sorry Vang.
In this case the laws covering anything you post here fall 100% under Contractual business law. You entered into this contract the day you installed the game... and you further rubber stamped it the day you created a forum avatar with in Cryptics 100% private game forum.

You are not entitled to free speech here. Because this is not a Public place. You can stand on the street and shout what ever you like about Cryptic... you can log into another site and talk however you like. (assuming they don't have legal measures in place to protect themselves from any liable type situations.) Frankly almost no forum anywhere on the internet is willing to provide you "free" speech. Its the way of the world my friend. There house there rules. They can take down just about anything they want because well once you type it here... they sort of own it... and are there for responsible for it.

Freedom of speech applies to the public and government... Not forums owned by private companies.
You don't allow people into your house, and let them say whatever they want?
I mean... They have freedom of speech right? If they come into your house and start yelling and shouting at you, you just take it, since they have the right to, don't they?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
No ...no one found it offensive and it isn't copyrighted otherwise the thousands of hitler rants out there on youtube would have been taken down as well lol... it was funny as hell mate
I can log into you tube right now and find 20 videos infringing on copyrights on my front page. lol
Things get removed when the holders of the copyrights complain. The fact that creators the Hitler rant don't push there rights doesn't mean Cryptics legal department would be ok with links to material that obviously belongs to someone and was used with out permission.
About the only copyrighted material I have ever seen NOT get edited by the mods... are videos featuring copyrighted Star Trek material. However seeing as that can be considered fan art and Cryptic has a Licence and relationship with CBS... Cryptic legal department may very well have a written agreement with CBS to allow those types of things here.
Bottom line if I was one of Cryptics Legal dudes... I would ask them to be vigilant in removing links to anything that is copyrighted. Then again I would want to get paid so I might neglect to tell them that. I can be a bit evil that way. lol
When it comes to the forums and free speech, it's as if the President was Cardassian or something....it's in the best interest of the people, and for your own good, don't worry.

If I had a dollar every time I saw someone (mistakenly) post about their 1st Amendment Rights on a private (MMO) forum......I'd have a lot of dollars!
For instance if you walked into my house and started to insult me, I would be well within my rights to tell you to shut up and get out...
I'm pretty sure if that scenario happens, being told to shut up and get out would be the least of their concerns....especially in my house. Impending dental work would probably be a higher priority.

I doubt they would remove it just because it was critical of Cryptic, I have criticized them plenty and none of my posts have been removed.
Perhaps it had some swearing in it of violated some kind of copy right?
