I'll avoid them until they come out with un-adaptable weapons. It just isn't fun having to remodulate after every few shots.
One of the passive abilities of the Omega rep system extends the time it takes for the borg to adapt. It actually works pretty well. Also, just have a different energy weapon type equipped as your back up and switch to it when they adapt to your primary. Also, if you have a complete MACO/Omega/Honor guard set, it includes an 'instant' remodulation.

As already demonstrated by this thread, most people were never fond of the ground STFs to begin with (myself included). I have literally no reason to do any of them unless I want the borg science BOFF on a new character.
I don't know at what point the true STFs got changed to the current PVE Queue system, but I love the fact you can skip the ground parts if you want to. (In the old way, you had no choice.)
I never liked ground too much, but I must say I find a run of Colony Invasion is a pretty time effective way to make 50-60 Fleet Marks during the bonus time. It takes less than 10 minutes and unless you have a really terrible PUG, it's pretty easy.
I was at the dentist 3 weeks ago getting two molars and a wisdom tooth pulled.
I would rather go through that than have to do ground STF's again...
I don't know how anyone can say that. I have done a lot of ground Eltie STF missions with random people and wile their are times that things have gone bad they have never been bad enough for me to rather go to dentist and have work like that done.
I do like ground STFs but they are more challenging and take more time. I need to farm marks for my Romulan toon and doing space STFs seems more efficient. Once I'm done farming and have a choice to do things for pleasure and not for marks I'll do ground STFs again.

where R.S.E. is what it always should be.
Only epic players who are packed to the hilt with awesomness do Ground STF's...
Thats why they are my fave!
I also nearly always go Melee, as I get knockbacks, and I forego trying to drain their shields like energy weapons have to do. Try a tholian Sword, they are awesome against the borg. Oh, and you don't have to worry about that pesky remodulation with melee as well....
Noobs stick to space, as they are too afraid to face the evil borgy-worgys in person :P
I could spend 5 minutes on a ISE/CSE and 10 at most on a KASE or I could spend 30 minutes on an IGE, fail the optional and cry as I have to kill Rebecca Simmons by myself. For the same exact Rewards.
I'll pass. Ground STFs are too difficult unless you have an organized team of people you know and know what they're doing. Hell, I've failed IGE with people I've known before because IGE is just too damn unforgiving.
i usually run KAG when i can, because its easier then the others by some margin. i wouldnt say i am undergeared though, running mk x blue/purples and a mk xi nanite disruptor shotgun always works wonders on flanks, esp. crouched and some aoe buff like tricorder scan from another player and playing the reman you get access to the mind drain ability which works wonders where your weapons fail.
however apart from KAG, i usually do almost any space stf or group event i can run across really.

I hate ground with a passion. First and foremost because it's a weird Star Wars/Mass Effect look-alike-contest with all the armors and heavy weaponry and is nothing like the fights we saw on the shows. Pistols, rifles, fists and some (klingon) blades should be the weapons of choice in ground combat, not miniguns and flamethrowers (apparently Starfleet dismissed the Geneva Conventions). Secondly oneshots are rampant in ground ESTFs. You don't have MK XII endgame equipment? You are dead as soon as you meet the first Elite Drone and happen to have aggro.* You stand in a slightly off angle? Dead due to flanking bonus. It's the very same mechanic the old invisible Borg megatorps had in space combat. It's not challenging, it's plain stupid and infuriating.
However I certainly understand why especially Engineers and Science players like ground combat. They absolutely rock in this setting. I've seen several science toons singlehandedly kill Armek, the most powerful boss in the game, while the rest of the team stood by and watched in awe. Against Armek my tac wouldn't last longer for more than a few seconds.
*I play Tac. Much in contrast to space combat the capabilities of this class to absorb damage in ground is almost zero.
I don't do ground STFs anymore. I ran 'em for a while back before the rep system, but now there's no way I'm running them. They take too long and aren't fun at all. I don't do Hive (on any setting) either. It's bad as well. I stick to the Big 3: ISE/CSE/KASE.
I do ground STFs occasionally to mix things up a little. All the ones I do are with people I know though, I never pug ground. My main toon is an engineer and he is awesome on ground, but each class brings benefits to the team if they are played right.

Borg adaption can only happen once every 20 seconds. Spending more time changing weapon frequency than firing may be canon, but it isn't fun.
Increase all vendor sale price of ground dropped weapons and armor by 10 (yes a factor 10)
Increase ground stf payout rewards for completion by 2 for dilithium, and 3 for marks.
introduce more ways to customize ground gear (Module slots to enhance shield, weapons and armor (think energy cells with various bonuses or skill modifiers.)
As an engineer:
Make all turrets, drones and generators spawn instantly instead of having me stand there for two seconds looking like an idiot. By the time most stuff has spawned the mobs are dead.
I used to play a lot of ground and still play a few infected ground now and then.
But, I am done grinding reputation so I won't ever need the optional on the other ground maps doing new characters, sadly.
I unlocked the optional outfit over half a year ago on the last of my original characters and to this day they haven't fixed those accolades and the sets remain blocked so w/e.
I do mostly ground STFs. They are much more fun with a good team and they are much more challenging. You need to know what you do. There are guides and youtyube videos on how to get the optionals there. Very helpful is a maco/omega or khg set for the fast remod. MK x is good enough. As second and main weapon you should get an anti borg antiproton weapon from the rep store for the 10 % kinetic dmg. I prefer splitbeam here. With my tac i can get 3 1k dmg hits fully buffed (operative kit) on crits. With eng or sci you can have lots of fun as well. A sci tanker is extremely useful versus Armek for example. You have to train the ground stfs for sure, but once you found out how they work, you will have lots of fun. And 50 % more marks. The highest amount was 176 marks during bonus hour (inkl. optional) i got in KAGE. So its definitely worth it. If you want some training, just tell me. I can help you
I have tried it , but everytime I try, everyone wimps out and leaves early! Then I'm stuck there being the only one.
Oh...correction.. ONCE I have had a group remain till the end of the mission.
Mostly, I do space missions, cause at least then, if people leave, I got a better chance to still win, since my ship is alot more powerful than my person.
And to answer your other question, I prefer being a science officer, cause then I can heal myself and others.
when the revamped ground combat came in everyone was praising it, but all i saw was a chance to make things worse for the future.. a lot more worse and wanted nothing to do with it. how right i was since LoR launched.
boss type enemies are absurdly overpowered with their special abilities, some abilities like the firebomb that the 3 grethor mini bosses use. at lt cmdr it took just one second for me to go from full hp and shields to death when it was used on me, i couldnt even run away it was that powerful, im not kidding either, other enemies are also just as insane to take down on normal difficulty. so yeah, i never liked the revamp and never will.

If you spec into ground properly, get the right gear and have a good understanding of how the mission works ground STFs are fine and can be very fast.
KA can be blitzed with the right team and cure isn't much harder either. The key is using the right weapons, kits and tactics as well as communicating with the rest of the team.
As far as space being a lot better, I would disagree. Space STFs are banal especially with the OP Warp cores and one shot torps.
Breen! With their ICE MEGA DEATH AOE CANNON and their ice grenades that slow you down so much you actually lag/rubberband across the ground
the Mega death AOE cannon always used to be very powerful even before the revamp. i did do the breen arc the other day though to get the breen boff i died once to its aoe attack and as the breen boss was beaming out without warning me and my entire team were killed in less then 2 seconds... it almost added a 3rd death just before my team took that thot out.

Federation officers in Colony Invasion (sure, only a problem for KDF ...). Almost all of them carry sniper rifles and throw photon grenades. The rest can stun your toon and revive/heal their comrades. You get bombarded by sniper shots, grenades and stuns, die in seconds, respawn and die again while their medics ruin your progress by healing and reviving the few guys you managed to wound/kill.
It's actually easier to fight the Breen, despite their annoying ice grenades.

Simple solution is kill the medics first, then the tacs, then the engineers. Only the medics can revive.
And they nerfed the Cold damaging weapons at least in PvP anyway.

Big, slow hits are much better than many smaller hits (at least regarding Borg adaptation)
That used to be true once. It has been changed. Im sure someone who isnt on a smatphone can hunt out the dev post about it all.
Ground is completely awesome. Grab a mk12 sword three mellee doffs and the omega ground set and dont ever wory about shields and remodulation again.
I would rather go through that than have to do ground STF's again...
