This mission is bugged, there is no way you can complete this mission in the time alotted without speed boosts or Frozen Boots (which Romulans don't have access too).

That is actually a Nimbus III daily mission. It is possible. I actually completed it today with about 3 seconds left. But you're right that it is really hard to do since there isn't all that much time to do it. And if you fail it then you have to wait 20 hours before you can do it again.

The problem I have with it is that sometimes you can end up with 4/5 after having visited and mashed F at all five spots, only for the game to lag out at the end for just a moment, resulting in one of them not having been fully scanned.

And you can never tell which one you have to run back to, because the map still shows all five rings. Ideally, the rings would be removed from the map as the scans properly complete.

I've managed it without speed boosts fairly reliably, but there is one potential contraband location that will /not/ count towards the 5, and if this location comes up, the mission cannot be successfully completed.

    Specifically, this location.

    /loc coordinates; 630 7 1367

After interacting with it, it can no longer be interacted with, but it does not seem to count towards the 5 contraband drops.

ok on a semi related topic, in the "Creatures of the Desert" mission, is anybody else having the periodic issue where once the time hits the 40's-30's it stops spawning? This has happened to me 4-5 times on different characters/factions. I'll end up with only 20 something kills because it they just stop spawning.

Something else I remembered. If you fail this mission the contact gives you the choice to restart the mission and try again, but when you do nothing happens, and when you talk to the contact again the mission is in the 20 hour cooldown.:(

Yeah, I learned a while ago from the daily path to 2409 'exam', that the game's definition of "restart" and mine are not the same.

Maybe I'm just unlucky but the bugged contraband location seems to keep coming up more and more. Ive failed the mission 5 times in a row now because the count stays at 0/5.

Also, the creatures of the desert mission stopped at generating creatures after 18 yesterday despite 30 seconds still remaining on the clock.

    Devs, please fix :(

Yes, the Orion Contraband mission is bugged, period. One of the patterns only gives you 4/5 no matter what. It's been reported repeatedly, here and in-game, for at least a couple of months.

And yes, Creatures of the Desert is bugged as well. I don't see a pattern but X percent of the time the creatures stop spawning prematurely, usually at 20 or 30.

Yes. That particular set of crates in Orion contraband is, and always has been bugged.
Notice whenever that when you get that set of crates to 'scan', just go out have a cup of cofee, sodapop or whatever. It's been like this since LoR was concieved.

Disappointing this bug has yet to be fixed after 3 months.

This bug will get fixed as soon as PWE no longer tasks the devs with creating new ships, weapons, and consoles for new lock boxes. Or you can submit a ticket with your credit card number and tell Cryptic you'll personally pay to have the bug fixed. Otherwise, get used to it. Look on the bright side, if it was paying out too much dilithium or not starting a cool down and letting you do the mission repeatedly, we would have to deal with emergency maintenance to apply a new patch to get it fixed. At least the servers are still up.

Dude, you have plenty of time to collect all the contraband, you dont need frosted boots, hell you can even do it just walking. That is not the problem the problem is this mission, the problem is, there is 1 spot where it will stop counting after the second contraband you gather. If you lucky, you can just do the mission cuz you will not have the bad luck to get the bad spot, but happened to me, in all the week i wasnt able to complete it, not even once, all the setups i "won" were the only 1 bugged. LOL.

The other mission buged in nimbus is creatures of the desert, but i dont think there is a point to talk about this anymore, since those are missions bugged since the beginnings of times and never fixed. They are forgotten into the oblivion, im afraid. Too bad, because the best zones in the game are the ones most bugged, lol, good job cryptic.

As far as i know those bugs are present since Nimbus was created.

I have bugged this several different times but nothing ever gets done about it so I finally just gave up. It is very frustrating to see this bug day after day, and the countless other bugs that are in the Defera Invasion Zone

What i do is, i go to Nimbus and i gather the 3 missions (creatures of the desert, orion contraband, and the other one i cant remember). The first one i go for is the contraband. If it is bugged, i drop the three of em and i leave nimbus asap. Dont want to waste time there.

If i get lucky and the orion contraband mission is not bugged, then i do the three missions. I am that lazy lol. Honestly, sometimes i dont even bother to visit Nimbus. Sigh, it was one of the zones i liked the most, to gather some dil, to kill some mobs here and there and test my boffs, for example, or just to spent a few minutes playing some dabo. It was great as well to gather items for my lower level toons. I will never understand why it is not fixed by now.

Yeah, this one has been bugged since the beginning. I usually never get it to finish.

As for longest time for bugs in a game, probably not yet. One of the MMO's I played for years had bugs that took over 5 years for the developers to finally find what was causing the problem. Sometimes its not that simple to track down the bugs.

STO cant be compared with ANY game. I played thousands of games, and a lot of mmorpgs, and seriously, lol, yo can find bugs really old, but you can find 2 or 3, not thousands like in STO. I can understand that sometimes one or two bugs are literally impossible to solve, due to the code complexion or because the original programmers are not there anymore, or watever. But seriously?? bugs so easy to solve like these ones, dont have any excuse. Not anymore after more than 1 year. But anyways, who cares anymore lol. The problem of cryptic is not only that they dont fix bugs, the problem is they have the "guts" to say the people that they fix things, when its not true. And they have the "guts" to write in the patch notes that they are aware of "3 known bugs", every week when there are thousands of em out there. And the important ones are not even listed there, never lol... what does this say about cryptic?? nothing, of course. I wish some people could see this.

April 3rd, 2014 Tribble server patch notes: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1072931
    General: Nimbus:

Daily Missions – “Creatures of the Desert”:
Resolved an issue where monsters would stop spawning around beacons if other captains were active around other beacons.
    Daily Missions - “Orion Contraband”:
Resolved an issue where one crate was not counting for progress.
Waypoints for the specified crate will now go away when it is successfully interacted with.
Teammates should now be able to click on crates, even if they do not have the mission.
Removed the daily cooldown if you fail the mission.
Captains can re-try it right away.
The daily cooldown will only apply once the mission is completed.

So it will be fixed with the launch of season 9. :)

    Have faith in Cryptic.

*remembers threads about KDF uniform slots still being locked even after recent fix*......*remembers bank window resizing issue being "fixed" but it still resets its size and Cryptic said "the game engine won't allow us to fix it so don't move your window* in other words "Just deal with it!"

Scratch that. You have a point lol.
