Before anyone replies "QQ moar" or "LTP", let me say this is not a complaint about the mission being too difficult. I actually quite enjoyed the mission...right up until the end.

The mission is challenging, but not impossible. The problem is this: The command ship has too many hit points!

It's not that I can't beat it. I could...if I wanted to spend 1-2 hours circling and pecking at the same baddie (the "cones 'o death" are easy to dodge with the right boff skill, btw)

Got to the command ship, pulled him away from the main battle, and started pecking at him. 30-40 minutes later I had his hull down to 65%. Had a lapse in concentration and died.

I spawned soooo far away (about 60km below the battle) that by the time I got back to the fight the command ship was back up to 85% hull strength. O_O

Sorry, but I'm not going to spend a large chunk of my allotted game time to kill one dude. I stealthed, got the heck outta Dodge, and clicked the little "skip" button on the mission in the story arc screen.

In summary: This mission needs to be marked (with sirens and flashing lights) as a TEAM mission. Either that or please make the command ship's health scale according to the number of players. It's not too difficult...it just takes too. darn. long!

    What worked for me on that mission was to not go after the Command Ship or the Dreadnoughts till I cleared out all of the other vessels firsts.

    I started will the easier targets that were the furthest away from the other NPC forces and work my way around till all of the easy targets were dealt with and only the Command Ships and the Dreadnoughts remained.

    The lesson that I learned quickly is that if you attack the Command Ship; the Dreadnoughts (I think there's 3) will swarm you and on the other side if you attack the Dreadnoughts all the other NPC ships (except for the Command Ship) rush to support the Dreads.

    The mission took about 30 mins using the method that I described above but what the payoff was that the Ally NPC that were helping me were able to cripple the Command Ship because I had cleared out all the trash mobs and the Dreads were busy trying to close in on me.

    Once the Command Ship goes down the Dreads just disappear (self-destruct) :confused:

    I died on this mission like 15 times. Eventually I just started getting aggro, then using maneuvers to pull them away from the rest and pick them off until everything was dead.

    Definitely feels like this quest is bugged though, no other quest in the entire game is this brutal, so its probably a scripting error.

    Either not enough help arrives or too many enemies arrive. I know my "support" all died in about 5 seconds, leaving me basically alone...few friendly ships that seem forever stuck in "REPAIRING" as well.

    Its not impossible to do, just takes forever (I did nearly quit out and restart), feels bugged to me.

    I found this mission very fun and easy, took under 20min to do and I didn't die. And the command ship, did u upgrade ur weapons and skills as u lvl'd? I had know problem killing it, even while I was being attacked by the rest of the ship's buzzing about. So know idea what u guys were doing for it to take 30min just t kill the command ship????

    Yeah of course I upgraded.

    Fight was going along fine...then all my allied ships started to die...leaving me the only thing left to shoot at...soon I had about 15+ ships all shooting at me, I died pretty quick once that happened.

    Then it was basically me vs the entire invading fleet, which took forever to whittle down.

    I guess you got lucky and got that command ship down while your allies were still alive.

    I didn't realize at the time thats all I was suppose to do was target that thing, game doesn't make it very clear.

    I also found it to be fun...at first... And, for me at least, it was never hard. In fact, I never once had to stealth out of the battle. I just tanked the command ship for the entire 30-40 minutes I was battling it.

    What ship are you using? What level are you? What grade are your weapons? What type of weapons are you using? If you're beating him in 20 minutes then you've probably not got the same setup as I...or are a much higher level.

    I was lvl 34 at the time, flying a D'Deridex, and most(~95%) of my stuff was mk vii and mk viii. Most(~80%) of my ship's equipment was of white or green quality, with a smattering of blues (the stuff you get from missions). I'm not going to spend 200k EC just for one blue quality mk viii beam weapon that I'm going to toss as soon as I hit lvl 40. And yes...I'm running it as a beam boat. So, not the best setup possible, but good enough I would hope.

    As far as boff skills, I have a pretty good setup. Got plenty of shield and hull heals (enough to comfortably tank the command ship w/o using stealth), got emergency power to weapons, engines, and another engine boosting power (can't remember the name), and all of these boff skills have their levels maxed out. As far as my toon's space-based skills, I have all of the shield, hull, and weapon boosting skills up to 6 levels (waste to spend on the last three red levels).

    My tactics are sound (as the one time I died was due to a derp moment). I literally circled the command ship for at least 30 minutes and pounded on it with all 7 of my beam weapons (maybe not 100% of the time - probably 10% of that time I was only hitting it with either front or back). And since he was chasing me as I flew circles around him most of the time I was hitting only his front shield facing. Not once did the shield drop below white status.

    Now that I've had some time to analyze the battle in my mind I'm beginning to wonder if the mission is bugged for some people...or is the game just trying to force me into one particular ship setup?

    Meh, I'll just try again later at a much higher level...and maybe with a different ship type. The mission isn't in any way, shape, or form too difficult. I just don't want to spend 2 hours pecking away at one guy for a minimal reward that I'll probably toss in a few levels anyway.

    Oh, God, yes. To me, all of the Elachi ships seem dreadfully overpowered. This mission was SUCH a pain in the bottom ...

    Also, I agree with the comment about cost of stuff. People in this game are so greedy. They're hurting everyone (especially those with the EC cap) with their Ferengi ways.

    Feds get a Self-Destruct ability. use it and it should solve all the problems with the game being too hard.

    Have agree with the op, once your fleet is gone, the allies take forever and we keep dying.

    Needs a fix

    I think it took me an hour or two in the end to beat it, I finished it at 5am so understandably I lost track of the time, I did it in a T3 Excelsior as a science officer using Mk IV phaser arrays and Mk V and VI general beam consoles, died more times than I care to count.

    I could take about 10 of the little ships and pets at any given time without scratching my shields but the moment I went near one of the bigger ones I went pop sso I would suggest toning those down a tad as the Excel seemed to outperform the Mogai of the same level I had previous.

    Why does a mission that is possible to accomplish single-handedly need to be marked as a team mission?

    Ummm...read the last part. It. Takes. Too. Long. After 30 minutes the mission began to lose that "epic" feeling and just became a boring, uninteresting, repetitious drudge.

    I never said it couldn't be done single-handed. In fact, I do believe I pointed out that the mission is rather simple and challenging yet relatively easy, but a team could clear it in 20-30 minutes instead of the 2 hours it was going to take. Doing it by yourself just becomes tedious and tiresome.

    Disclaimer: Don't misunderstand me...I'm not saying to make it require a team. It should just warn you to bring a friend or two. But...

    I'd rather they fix the mission than tag it as team-oriented. The ally ships should stay in the fight and keep helping you out instead of getting wiped out so quickly.

    I too found the end battle to be extremely difficult, especially since the escorts actually respawn until you kill the command ship. I think however the solution isn't to make the Elachi ships weaker or reduce their numbers; it's better if the allied ships get a buff so they don't constantly die and leave you to do the whole thing on your own. Also, the Elachi multiple viral matrixes were ******n awful.

    yep, this mission definitely needs some tweaking... in the end I had a lvl 45 help me out...

    They should just add way more allies that can repair themselves rather than die permanently considering the AI is not capable of dodging Elachi doomblasts, it's doable solo without any deaths it just takes too long for the average player(which is what normal difficulty should be balanced around) imo for a solo story mission.

    It's actually not just limited to the command ship. These Elachi are supposed to be a challenge yes however like the Tholians they are not supposed to be immune to everything.

    Tractor beam = doesn't work
    Science CC skills = doesn't work
    Skills to drain shields = doesn't work
    Kinetic abilities even when shields are at 0 = doesn't work.

    I can imagine them having a reactionary response to things but being just plain immune is not possible unless they are all flying around in neutronium hull plating and neutronium bulkheads.

    It is doable, if you have the time and the patience. Did it a few times in the beta, it was neither fun nor enjoyable, and that was enough for me to skip it from live onwards...

    I did it today in something around 20 minutes, as a lvl 31 in a D'Deridex, with equipment that had dropped over time or came standard on that model. Sure, I died a lot, but in the end there were still allied ships remaining. I made plentiful use of dropped satellites, and used the Pirate Call twice, and in the end we beat the buggers. It was hard, but I enjoyed the process.

    I think it helped that I hung lots of beam weapons on the ship, as well as torpedoes fore and aft, and used Fire At Will every time it came off cooldown. :)

    I'm a Stubborn player.

    I went right for the command ship. 12 times.


    I finally got it down to 0% hull and guess what?


    ****ing thing was still intact and firing, with full shields.

    THere's some buggy code in this one.


    Eventually it seems the game caught up with the fact that I had actually reduced the damned things hull to 0 and it exploded.

    It was really annoying.

    i did it twice. once at the appropriate level you first get it and it was a nightmare. until i figured out to just kill the command ship first. died about 5 times.. second time i did in a he fah at 50....still took awhile but managed to not die at all....just killed the command ship. had to though i wanted that sing core at xi =)

    it is a bit overtuned and not made for a solo player

    I tried it @ VA in my ||Mogai retrofit - no dice. Probably might have beaten it had the server not been about to go down, but would have died multiple times. This really is a poorly designed mission as it doesn't just punish the player, it beats them black and blue. Might give it a go later as I want that core and the mk xi dual plasma beam, but I think i'll go get my mk xi Reman shields first.

    I've played this through a few times, for the dual injection singularity cores. It seems to me that the real objective here is to kill the dreads. The command ship wont die if there are any dreads left on the map, and if you kill the dreads then the command ship mysteriously dies at the same time.

    My specific strategy is to kill the regular battleships as soon as you can, since they spawn the support and control ships that tractor you and heal the command ship. Then kill any support ships that were already spawned so they dont TRIBBLE up your game. Then kill the control ships and escorts to get them off the field. Then go after the dreads.

    I definitely feel this mission needs some fine tuning. Because I like to read the forums, I came into this mission a little bit more prepared. It took me about 30 minutes to complete Defense of New Romulus with about eight or nine deaths.

    At one point in the mission though it seemed that the command ship bugged out and wasn't targeting me. This was despite the fact that I had pulled it away from the main group and was the only ship attacking it.

    I feel this mission as it is now is a missed chance at an epic conclusion to the Elachi story arc. Instead of a desperate battle to save New Romulus it feels like more of a zerg rush.

    This mission took me about an hour and a half, I died about 8 times before I was able to pull the main ship away from the pack. The vast majority of the support I had at the beginning of the mission died off within seconds and there were just 2 or 3 ships that kept respawning to help me.

    I'll just echo what everyone else was saying. I get that it's supposed to be hard. But I think a mission should still be enjoyable.

    I finally beat the command ship by a series of attacks and then cloaking, rinse repeat for half an hour.

    By the end of the mission I was exasperated...and usually I enjoy the missions, this one however, I didn't.

    I like the command ship as a boss, like a good cube or the scimitar, it's a tough git to take down. What i don't like is trying to drag the command away from what looks like 20-30 other Elachi ships who are all overlapping their death beams in a 10KM ball of death with no real support there to help.

    I think what maybe needs to happen is a slight buff to the command ships, a few more ships in the previous 2 waves, less in the command wave .. and possibly more reinforcements if that doesn't solve it. If a mission is un-winable for a lot of the player base without dying multiple times, the balance is wrong.

    The problem of this mission is that all your allies, bar the named ships pretty much die as soon as the last Elachi wave warps in.
    The command ship itself is pretty easy to defeat, if you can manage to separate it from the rest.

    The problem is more the --> Elachi Fleet warps in --> ALL Elachi ships do crescent at the same time ---> All non named allies dead ---> Everything shoots at Named allies and you from there on.

    I'd also like to note that the IKS Kang is not a Negh'var, but a Vor'cha in all other missions but was seemingly turned into one specifically for this one mission lol

    i think there should add this mission to the pve queue it would be a hell a lot of fun teaming up with mates

    That sounds like a plan. You, your friends and a few hero ships vs the Elachi in a desperate attempt to save New Romulus. Requirement VA(50) Rewards Dilithium and Rom rep.
