Several Missions are Broken.

kirksplatkirksplat Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I don't really know the cause yet, but as the reviews start to come in, several of my missions are now broken due to something not triggering. If this is also happening to you, please post about it.

Is it invis objects? reach markers? What is breaking your missions?

Devs, can we have an ETA on when we can unpublish these things? They are getting one-starred and we can't edit anything to fix.

^They usually do this. Idk why they wouldn't this time around but if it's true that people can still review without us being able to fix our missions then... TRIBBLE. It's like that one season all over again... I think it was season 3? or it might of been 4? All I know is i don't want to have to import one of my missions to a "new mission" and loose all my good reviews due to have such $h1tty reviews thanks to cryptic not disabling the review option while they do maintenance before I can actually get in and fix what they always mess up...

PS Loving my Romulan so far. Great job on that cryptic, but real shotty job with this foundry thing if people can still review...

Yes, this is a very unfortunate situation. Anyone who has used the foundry will probably be more understanding, but many do not know what is going on atm with the toolset. These authors have worked very hard on these missions and should not have their ratings tanked because of a glitch. Not only is the source of the glitch beyond their control, but they can do nothing to fix it!

Since it is out of the authors' collective hands we can only cross our fingers and hope Cryptic solves the issue with today's maintenance. If not today, then sooner would be better than later...:(

To be fair to the many authors who write such excellent content for your game, Cryptic, perhaps you should deactivate reviews. Maybe even remove all reviews posted since the first date the Foundry editing tools have been inaccessible?

    Just a thought...

Currently, while we republish all missions made prior to launch, all access to the Foundry is off. This includes editing and playing. Once the republish process is complete, we will allow access to playing Foundry missions again. When we do, the ability to review missions will be temporarily disabled.

hmmmm seems like they forget to turn them off.......

They are playable and reviewable. So, maybe they did forget this part of it.

As always forget the missions we published and allow us again to give low grades because of Cryptic, not news and they always do.

The Foundry is back in poor condition and are not playable missions most if not all.

We'll have to be patient again ...

Well, I've had a few reviews where someone could or could not complete the mission.

It's almost like they got two different versions of my mission, one of which had the reach marker in the correct location.

I will know nothing until I can withdraw and edit.

Ouch. I've just been kind of hoping no one will notice my missions. Only 3 out of 5 of my series actually published right so I'm thankful my other two havent been published yet.

I just got one review, but it seemed like everything went alright from the sound of the review. However, it puts me on edge to know that i can't do anything about it if someone else finds my mission and plays with something being messed up.

It sounds like people have already found your mission. You have my wishings of luck good that no one else will find them ^.^ (I know a completely ironic statement....)

We should make it a practice to pull our missions whenever a big update comes along.

In the past, they've told us not to unpublish before an update. The idea being that when they get auto-republished, we need missions up to run to see if anything big is broken that Cryptic needs to fix before they turn the editor back on. This has helped us find bugs in previous updates that were then fixed.

Reviews are supposed to be turned off during this process. Obviously it hasn't been this time, even though they told us it would be. BranFlakes assured us this morning over Twitter that this has been passed on to the appropriate guys at Cryptic.

Would be nice if they could do some kind of review rollback, but I don't know if that's something that can be done.

As Drogyn said, there are a bit of benefits to leaving missions up during a season update. In fact, if a mission suffers a major break that it detects, the system will not re-publish it and allows the devs to see what drastic unforeseen consequences popped up.

This situation here is the reviews still being active despite, which is likely a mistake. The other issues like the (sometimes) weird reach marker behavior and others possible things are making that one stick out like a sore thumb. The reviews are disabled to avoid exactly this type of thing happening. Just a ball got dropped somewhere and it bounced into traffic.

Perhaps we should go on strike!

Hahaha And how we would go about doing that? Just un-publish all our missions once the editor comes back online?

    Good.

A strike would be impossible, but I do I have the intention to put a message in all my missions exempting my responsibility if the mission does not work, and if not done correctly they send a ticket to Cryptic and solving it. Since I'm tired of bad grades because of Cryptic, which is not the first nor the second time you do the same, it costs them nothing close everything and when the republished work.

The truth is that I think they do it on purpose because they want to see best missions in the foundry that they create.

The message is a bit harsh, but when you have 11 missions and published every 4 or 5 months, you have to check again to work tiring. That every time there is a small or large revision must recheck all missions.

Of course, when care if they put a great addition as casting, and thanks to them we can create missions, please two years we have been using a beta version and we are the beta testers for Neverwinter foundry.

    A greeting.

First off, I'm sorry I wasn't here Monday or Tuesday to respond on this. I had both days off and wasn't in the office.

Second, thanks to BranFlakes for making sure this issue was passed on.

    Third, I understand your frustrations.

I can assure you that none of the problems with the Foundry are intentional. It's just a highly complex addition to an already highly complex game where changes to one sometimes have unexpected changes to the other.

If any of you decide to no longer use the Foundry or share your projects, that is your choice and I wish you the best.

For those who choose to keep using the Foundry and sharing their work, I say thank you but also ask for your continued patience.

Thanks CF. Please pass along any info or updates about the problem. Could you recommend that they turn off the ability to review our missions? That was the plan, according to a dev post quoted in this thread.
Once the republish process is complete, we will allow access to playing Foundry missions again. When we do, the ability to review missions will be temporarily disabled.

We'll be a lot more patient if we're not getting 1 star reviews for things that we can't control.

New to the forums, and wish I'd discovered this thread awhile ago. Haven't published any missions, but I'm a dedicated foundry player, and probably two thirds of the missions I have tried to play since the update have been broken. I have run into every thing from consoles I can't touch, to planets I can't orbit or beam to, npc's I can't talk to, and a few other similar things. For the most part the map indicators still work, and sometimes the npc even has the yellow exclamation point over his head. I have covered every inch of a highlighted room trying to get a dialogue option to trigger, and approached npcs from every possible angle to no avail. It is unfortunate because for me at least the foundry is the biggest attraction of the game. Only took a couple months to finish all the episode missions, and red alerts and daily missions get awfully repetitive. So thanks to all you folks who take the time to create missions, because without your efforts I might not still be in the game. Let's hope they get it up and running fast because otherwise I am going to have a hard time justifying the monthly expense. I realize any update is going to have it's issues, and some are going to have a higher priority than others. I hope the foundry is pretty high up on the list.

    Good.

It seems perfect to tell me that the problem is the new update, but one of these days we will say why not add anything new to the foundry stops working properly, and knowing that this would happen not understand why do not you shut up and you allow people keep getting bad grades.

It is not the first time I got it and I always ordered the same thing, that ye shall not give us bad grades due to problems beyond our control and we do not pay heed, you want me to say, I have patience the first 4 sometimes, other times it's the same I think otherwise.

    A greeting.

Not sure if this is part of the general problems or just a very specific case, but my mission "Shadows of the Past" is nowhere to be found.

I know, I know, patience an all. Just wondering wheter all missions have already been republished or if there's something wonky going on.

It's good to see Cryptic communicating on this, even if it is light on content. I'm not looking for a date, but it really should be easy to provide a statement like:

XX% of missions have been republished
Reviews [WILL/WILL NOT] be turned off shortly.
Once republishing is complete we will
[ENABLE EDITING SO AUTHORS CAN FIX PROBLEMS / KEEP IT OFF WHILE WE INVESTIGATE PROBLEMS]
    Thanks for patience, platitudes, etc.

    ^Right lol.

I remember back when cryptic was owned by Atari. They had almost full disclosure about what was coming up next as far as content and patch fixes. Now, since being bought by pwe all we get is, "please be patient...." or "the information has been passed along.." What happened to the info pipeline? Oh well... I wont be too mad if they at lest grant us the decency of rolling back the reviews since the release of LoR. I mean it's the lest they can do for the people who help keep their game full of story content.

Plus, with their new game, Neverwinter, I've been considering starting to write some stuff for that. However, if things don't really get smoothed over with the STO foundry I'm not even going to waste my time with the NW foundry.

Aside from the foundries, STO and NW are great games that I have fun playing all the time. I hope they can lock down all the hiccups they're going through right now....
