Caustic Plasma Weapons...

Hi,

Is it me or is there something missing from the Caustic plasma weapons, for a special weapon the specs are not that great, and it looks like they are missing a special proc!

Are they a work in progress, or is that is for these unusual weapons...

Answers on a post card please, or in forum will do.

right click on the weapon and select info, it will answer most of your questions, others answers will include its a leveling weapon, who cares? replace it with fleet or reputation weapons.

Because if it is meant to have a special proc, I would love to have them... :cool:

threat21, you could have at least checked before answering. The info does not mention any special effect, it shows exactly the same text like a standard plasma weapon. Which is weird, considering the weapon's name. However, a "rare" weapon available through romulan mission has [Acc]x2 on it, so it seems it's not supposed to have any special, added effect (it wouldn't have a double proc as a rare weapon then).

the only difference between a normal plasma weapon and th caustic ones is it does higher plasma DoT when it procs....but its so minute that its nor worth getting.

They are the same as a regular weapon of the same type, but their dot proc last 50% less time for 50% more damage. Not really worth it by itself, however, having free blue [acc]2 item can be interesting.

Thats what I thought so I got a complete set! Also Im getting loads of plasma consoles, from fleet, to bump it up a bit more, they seem ok for a freebie. I just thought they may be given more when patches are added.

All the caustic plasma energy weapons have +20% accuracy as standard, so that might be the extra "benefit".

I ground out enough missions to get myself a complete set of the Plasma-Disruptor Hybrid Mk XI. Both beam and cannon. Still say it's the best free weapon in the game. Still have a couple of ships equipped with these. Got the plasma proc nearly every time I fired them when I kitted out my ship with blue quality consoles and Doffs. Watching a Sphere or a Chel Gret wander off trailing plasma fire never ever gets old, lol.

did you guys bother to compair the caustic weps with the other plasma beams of the same type and rarity? the caustics dps and base damage are higher also, not just the proc.

IMO the Caustic Plasma weapons are GREAT.

Solid damage, a better plasma proc AND built in [ACC]x2

If you want to gear our your Romulan and not spend the EC for Fleet Plasmas... Caustic is the way to go.

The caustic's proc has higher damage, but it doesn't last as long. That's about the thing I have noticed with it.

I think they are definitely worth it as a weapon to use while you are working on rep and fleet currency to equip your ship with what you really want to use. I was using them for a time on my rom vet ship until I bought myself all Elachi DHCs and turrets. Worked out nice.
