Can there be something other then a slow boat Cruiser with Engineer Boff top for tier 4 Dilth?
So ATM. Anyone wanting an Agile ship for tier 4 will not be flying a Rom ship.
And as for science simply will not be flying Romulan until tier 5
Tier 1 = Anything/Nothing
Tier 2 = Tac
Tier 3 = Tac
Tier 4 = Eng
Tier 5 = Options
Best option. Just like the KDF BoP. Either have the top slot Universal...or All slots Universal.
There are more Romulan ships at launch than even the Federation had.
This is literally the last thing about the new faction worth complaining about.
.... I'm 100% positive that's not the case... Having played fed at launch and during the beta...
They had escorts and science vessels and cruisers except tier 1 with 2 selections of each at tier 5.
Even kdf had raptors bop and bc's at launch... It legit compliant honestly, they lacked the time and also there is not much cannon Romulan vessels to go by and Imo I prefer a few high quality ships then a bunch of made up ships that were slapped together.

That's misleading since at launch there were zero c-store ships, all the ships were free and there was a science, engineering and tactical ship at every tier.
This time around there's one choice at each tier for free, and a bunch of c-store options.
Well, if that is your requirement then, yes, there really aren't any impressive Romulan ships until T5. However, if you bought the Legacy Pack or are willing to pay for one or two of the individual C-store ships then there ARE better Romulan ships available.
STO might be F2P but if you want a really awesome experience when you're playing then you have to pay up.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.
Count C-Store ships...well at each tier they are the SAME as their counterpart but one more Boff and Console. And as for Ally ships, you have to buy those with Dilth and don't get them free.
The real point here is ROMULAN ships not total ships.
have you forgotten you can use you allies ships as well as a Romulan?
yes well, romulan only, they arent focusing on allied ships at all lol
i agrre that the romulan choices sort of suck while leveling up...but that beign said, you CAN get tolvl 40 insanely quickly....just by doing the back to back story missions lol
I find this line of replies sadly hilarious. We put a lot of work into the massive list of fixes/changes above, and ya'll are hung up on the ability to skip our content. =p
have you forgotten you can use you allies ships as well as a Romulan?
Kind of. But it's still very different. You can't use your token on them.
This is a very different experience than the other two factions. The criticism that the choices feel very forced and narrow is a valid criticism. What I feel offsets this the most isn't things like C-Store options or allied options. It's how fast the levelling experience is. You'll be beyond that tier in a flash so it doesn't matter anyways. Which with the logjam of Romulan T5 retrofits and fleet variants, seems like Cryptic feels that way as well.
Well this is nothing to worry about, the Romulans are a new faction in STO and had a very limited number of ships seen in the series. I expect the Romulan ship rooster to flesh out more and more as time passes.
For now, the way I see it is - during the leveling, Romulan Republic captains will have a chance to check out and get to know each Romulan ship, so at end game they can make an easier choice which one to use. The leveling is relatively fast in STO, so I don't see it as much of an issue.
And at Tier 5, everyone gets to fly their favourite Romulan ship. I like ENT and I'm very happy to be able to use the T'Varo at end game.
You don't choose your side until level 10. Which means you can't fly an ally ship until you have an ally?
Strangely enough, he might be through some mysterious ways able to do it, because I noticed that I was able to use parts of the Fed. ENT uniforms from my bundle on my Romulan char. and I was not yet alligned.
You're pretty much stuck playing a tactical setup once you hit Centurion. The Dhaelan is also tac heavy.
You won't have enough dilithium to get the Fed or KDF ship.
Would have been nice if they made different console layouts for each Warbird and left the boffs universal. Being locked in to one play style until pretty much Tier 5 is going to limit my enthusiasm.
At T5? Maybe but lower rank ships are unlikely because you are pretty much making a ship that nobody wants outside the console, meaning you are better off doing a T5 ship since the ship itself sells.
It very easy to use the current Romulan model for any new Romulan ship they add in the C-Store in the future. Just make one new design for Tier 5, give it stats and a unique console and then tweak the stats for Tier 3, use the same design, make another universal console, tie them together with a set bonus and voila - double the sales and a new low level c-store ship for 1.1/3 of the effort.
It is indeed unfortunate that, if you want to fly Tier 4 ship, you have to adapt to the cruiser-y D'Deridex (when you have generally little experience to retrain your boff skills).
However, you can keep your Mogai till lvl 40. It's easy enough to keep playing with it. I did it on Tribble, with Mk IV-VII mostly common gear from drops and episode rewards (that's generally green or better, however). I had some disruptors, tetryons, some console slots empty... and it was no problem.
So just keep you Mogai till you get a Ha'feh, or if you like sci your Ha'nom.
Of course if you like eng, you'll be fine with the big D at Tier IV already.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Before the launch of "Legacy", I had repeatedly asked that the Science ship from "The Next Phase" (TNG), and the Scout ship from "The Defector"(TNG) be added. If these ships are added, it would help to fill out the ship roster at low levels and provide more variety. And of course, there should be a Tier 5 version of them as well.
The scout ship should have three skins. Lanora, Theta, and Talon to match the names used in other sources.
The Science ship should have two skins named Apnex, and Talvath after the two science ships named or seen on screen.
I agree that the Mogai really should have been Tier 4, but then what should would be at Tier 3? The Science ship sort of fixes that, but then you still have a lack of ship options at tier 3.
It's really a shame how limited the choices are for a Romulan purist.
Currently trying to take a tac valdore through elite 30-50, will report back with results.
30-40 should be enough, then you got the Ha'feh, Ha'apax, Ha'nom. And I'm sure you'll do fine.

I don't understand why we have such a limited selection of free ships to choose from. The Federation and Klingons have tons, yet we a total of 4 until SubAdmiral. Yes, I am not counting the refits as we have to pay for those. Yes we can purchase faction ships up to tier 4. Why no simply let us use our ship token for one of those if we want?
The Federation has more ship choices (and choices based on profession) than the Klingons and Romulans, why I have no clue but it would seriously be nice if the Klingons and Romulans had ships for each profession as choices as well.
So far, I am completely underwhelmed by the performance of my Romulan ships. The lower power levels across the board is a severe disadvantage...one that is not made up by their special warp core powers or any other factor I have been able to determine
It's disappointing; I had hoped the ships would at least be *comparable* - but 20% less power is very noticeable.
Borg efficient Doff from starter pack, efficient capitan, warp theorist. Pretty much solves the problem.

Don't mind me, Im just a homeless alien refugee, fighting for an alien hippie with my human-built pre-Federation NX class starship!
Oh, and 22,916th in line to play.

Honestly that ship should be given to us in a box after we take it.
Om-nom-nom
Whether it's a carrier or not, I'd like to have one. If it's not, the Romulans need a carrier as well.
I plan on using my Raptor instead. A much better T4 ship that follows the Mogai...
