I?m with the OP on that one. I hate waiting on the queues, but the expansion is awesome. Which I was telling both in fleet and zone since I tested it on tribble. The game, which was already very enjoyable, is much improved.
Thank you, Cryptic.
I did a little programing in past years and I can tell you that all the negative comments about the DEV team is unfounded. Are they perfect, NO no one is. But you try to have this massive of a game work perfect everyday, I can put a million dollars on it that you can't. EVERY game and person has faults and things that need to be worked on, there are things in the game that I would like to see changed or improved. Some of the fixes on this patch were suggestions made a long time ago. They can't snap their fingers and fix every problem every time it comes up, play time would be next to nill at times. I think they are doing a good job, so congrats guys, keep up the good work.
yes, thank you for introducing login queue, what a brilliant idea... I spent 20 euros just 2 days ago and now i have to wait hours in order to play. Just great!

Nothing to do with LoR per se. The login queue has reared its ugly head after just about every new season.
That being said, LoR is awesome. Don't listen to the entitled haters, Cryptic rocks!

To those moaning about servers, do you even know how a server works or what one even is???
I can imagine that Cryptic have multiple servers, but not all of them would be upgraded for the latest game platform. If they did upgrade all of their servers and a major error occurs, then STO could be offline for days.
Also, they would have deliberately put the queue system in place to make sure that the server gets a consistent flow of incoming traffic, not everyone in at once. I started queuing 10 mins ago, and I was in 3900 place. I am now 1359, so in a few mins i'll be in. If you cant get in, then you're just being impatient. Load up the queue, then go make a tea/coffee and have a cig.
The Development team did a great job. I played a fair bit earlier this morning, before the queue started getting into the 5 digits, and I liked what I saw. I was able to play the new Fleet Actions (though that shuttle/fighter colony defense one is hard to figure out unless you have Point Defense on your small craft, ha ha), though I was unfortunately only able to reach level 5 on my romulan before I physically could not keep going.
That being said, I believe the complaints about the login queue and general server instability are completely founded. While this is the first time I've ever seen a login queue on Holodeck, the server instability is something that I've seen with each new season release (I've been in STO since before season 5). And I hear that it's been a problem since before I joined as well. Cryptic has apparently always been bad at estimating customer demand, and it seems to have been made worse since the Perfect World buyout.
However, as far as I know, this is not the DEV team's fault. More the IT department's fault.
I don't know if they're purposefully holding on to server space or something, but they need to at least temporarily rent out an extra server or two, for a week at least. With how excited people were for the LoR expansion (which btw every time I see that abbreviation I keep thinking Lord of the Rings, thanks a lot Tolkien), it should have been quite obvious from the start that demand was going to be huge. They could have even taken a guess with how many people actually shelled out the money for the two packs (And I know quite a few people bought the Legacy pack)).
So my consensus is the same as most people. Love the update, and the new content, and everything about the Romulan faction. But Cryptic once again dropped the ball on their implementation. I don't expect a perfect release, but the login queue reaching into 5 digits? That is something I haven't seen happen with other games for litterally YEARS.
I whole heartedly agree with you, LOR gets ahold of you like a good book that you don't want to put down and made me feel for my character more than any other game. Again, Thank You Criptic DEVs and team for a great emersion into another world.

You mean this has happened before and they haven't got fixed? Well, I just hope you are right and tomorrow I will be able to play. After all I love very much this game and... most important... I payed for my new ship just 2 days agoooooo!!!
I played to level 11 on Tribble, and I have to say this update is simply amazing. The spectacular maps, the way you assemble your crew, the voice work, the story, and some real epic cut scenes that would be worthy of any blockbuster Hollywood movie are really well thought out and implemented.
The story and the environments just draw you in, and make you want to play more. You have all really outdone yourselves. This is a great update, and I can't wait to begin my new adventures.
Nice work!
Loving the new looks of ships, and romulans and the maps for there new mission. And the story line is WOW! Super good job on adding the boffs to the story line a little more.
But for now Im a little kid on Christmas eve, just waiting for the login queue to start so I can open my new warbird up
I'm really impressed with this expansion, a lot better than what I expected. Ok, this is only my first impression and I didn't touch endgame of STO for years, as somehow the game was already dead for me with F2P and PW.
But Cryptic proved me wrong and I'm really grateful. I think I've never been this happy with my Lifetime sub as I currently am
Well this blows... A buddy of mine just logged in and I asked him if he was a sub. He's a lifer so he logged in almost immediately, meanwhile I've been waiting for 20 minutes to almost a half an hour because I am a preferred player(used to sub when it launched and off and on during it's 3 years of life). so this server issue is more about preferential treatment to subs, which I agree they should get some preferential treatment but this... this is ridiculous. by the time a Free to play or preferred player gets in they won't want to play the game. so they just wasted their time and others because of this queue line.
yesterday we all had problems, ftp queues of 26k:eek: insane rubber banding....server not responding....disconected from server:mad:
logged in today...no queues, no lag that i noticed and in 3 hours of play server not responding only twice...both less than 10 seconds
i have no idea what you did overnight but big thumbs up from me crypyic
enjoy the cash from my new lts guys you earned it;)

Your imagination is the only place where these "other servers" exist. Craptic cares little for the wellbeing of the playerbase.
I want to add my thanks for the obvious care and hard work put into LoR. I have been frustrated at times with the snags and set backs, but the overall product is a huge stride forward for the game and I am enjoying a new found zest for playing.
Comments
Now if you can get your hardware and server problems sorted out, that would be great. :P
Thank you devs!

Overall LOR = 10
KDF start mission = 20
Server/network readiness = -30
final score = 0
que are one thing an understandable. but there no excuse for lots of server DC, timeout and general lag.
Thank you, Cryptic.

I agree 100%

One thing few people have mentioned is the new login screen with your character and their crew all PEW PEW and the ship behind you like VWOOM
pretty sweet
