With this many "known' errors and others like the critical errors that prevent characters from being login in due to fatal failue, Cryptic it is clear you need to fix some more bugs. People are going to be much more upset if these errors continue throughout the night, than if you fix it in 2 - 3 hours. Please take the servers down and address the issues instead of tryiing to quick patch fix it for the day.
Agreed ... You failed to launch on 21st. Tomorrow is a brand new day to crash and burn.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
It keeps saying retrieving list of characters but then it says the connection to the server has timed out.. I can't even seem to login.. I absolutely do agree with you guys cryptic needs to bring down the server and address these bugs and glitch issues..

Well earlier it kept saying error due to unknown reasons. Maybe it showing the timed out message is a step forward. Wishful thinking.

Agreed. Put this dying animal of a server out of it's misery cryptic. Seriously.
I am getting the same problem, can't log in. Why dont you guys take that crappy Neverwinter game down and give STO the bandwith... since I am pretty certain you are making more money off of STO now since the Neverwinter guys TRIBBLE your economy and stole all your money.
At this rate I wish they would take down the servers and getting rid of Neverwinter would be a good thing.
These glitches is making me regret putting any money into this game if they keep having these problems. Star Citizen is looking more appealing everyday.

Don't fret over it, when you do finally get past them and pick a toon it will do the same thing retrieving the map list.
They need to cut down the number of people they're allowing in. Having priority login is meaningless if the server is so overwhelmed that the game you're logging into is unplayable. Boot everybody off, lower the maximum player limit, then start letting people back in. If some F2Pers don't get in because of long queue, too bad. Those of us who pay for the game will at least be able to play.
Im playing just fine besides some lag issues. Don't take the servers down. I don't want to sit around on the forums like the people here instead of playing.

i understand your thinking but i had a subscription once now i am free to play but over the last year i have put in a couple of thousand dollars in getting new ships and such... with that in mind should my contribution be considered any less just because i am not a lifetime subscriber?

Yes. Because you are not paying for priority login access. I did. What I'm paying for is currently valueless because the game is impossible to play. Your ships and whatnot do not lose all value because you can't play today. Major content launches are the ONLY time priority login matters, and it's useless here.

so if i spend 10,000 dollars and you spend 14.99/month
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

i'm less valued because you have a sub?
math does not compute, neither does the logic
Dollar value doesn't matter. I've spent a lot of Zen too. You bought ships and items. I bought (among other things), priority access when we have big launches. I am not getting what I paid for because they are trying to accommodate you. You know the tradeoffs of being F2P, you made your choice. I'm only asking for things to operate they way Cryptic says they should.
hell, ya can go to servermonkey, and get a refurbed server for less than 2k. that with dual quad core 3.33 ghz xeon cpu's and 6 tb of disk space. i wouldnt be surprised if my desktop has more power than their server does
Doubtful, considering Holodeck is very likely not one computer. It's more likely a virtual machine distributed across a number of actual hardware servers. Unless your home desktop looks like a supercomputing cluster... nope.

What cryptic really should have done was rent out more servers to temporally add to STO's server capability....

Cryptic will do a Kickstarter to buy new / more servers. Just wait and see.
Um, they rent the servers anyway. Just rent some more
At least they would be trying to do something to adress their hardware issues

do you not realize that STO is A LOT more popular than it was in the past.

havent been told once i was waiting in one , have been logged on about 20 odd times ( never for very long tho :P )
Cryptic were all like ' zomg go gold or LTS for priorty access ' and in the recent tribble test weekend i saw queues of 10k+, but none today ?
