And so....it begins! (LoR deployment)

So, the servers are down, LoR is being deployed and a new era in STO is about to begin. We get the romulan faction, a new UI, better textures and warpcores, just to name a few. Im really curious about what people will do first when the servers are back live.

Will you work towards getting a good warpcore for your main toon?

Will you start a Romulan toon?

Will you begin exploring the new areas?

What 'are' you looking forwards to the most and why?


For me, Im spending time getting a fleet Warpcore for my FAE the USS My Little Pwny. :D


So let us know what the first thing you are going to do is.

    I will be doing the same thing I always do, farm stf's.

    - That said, new warpcore perhaps..
    - Manipulating the exchange when new stuff is being put on...
    - Looking trough the traits and wondering what the best setup will be, while also watching the forums to see if any trait is bugged, providing a larger bonus than intended...
    - Open 4 new lock boxes

    First thing im gonna do? Spend the next day leveling a rom toon to 50.

    I did my Klingon in a day x.x

    Seriously, /played was like 22 hours when I hit LG, and i did it all in two sittings over this last weekend.

    never again... well after this rommie =DDDDDD

    It depends on how much of the text you want to read. I made it to 33/34 - the end of the Rom original content - in about 9 /played hours on the test server, but I wasn't really reading all the text or overly exploring the environments. I wanted to save the story for the Holodeck. I think most people will make it to 50 in about 20-25 /played hours.
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    Does anyone know if we get a new free character slot to make a Romulan Character? I am not sure if I have to use my last remaining character slot or if I get a new one...anyone know?

    I'll be spending my time running through the story line again and getting accolades. Then begin the long journey of grinding Tholian Rep.

    The D'Deridex isn't a battlecruiser. It's another space whale. Battlecruisers have respectable turn rate.

    Personally, I liked it - but I like Cruisers. I wasn't trying to play the Big D like a KDF ship, though. To my mind the Rom ships are more about tactics. Using the cloak to get +10 to turn is as important as trying to use it as a first-strike damage bonus. I think once people get past the "sneak up and pop them" mentality that they tend to use with the KDF they'll probably like the Big D more. Plus some of those Singularity abilities are very useful. :)

    Apparently we get two new slots, one for Rom, the other for Rem.

    This.. well, three toons actually.. and after that, I'll see, that all my other toons get nice/fitting Warpcores and if necessary some general tweaks. After that.. I'll plan to do the new Kling. stuff and last but not least.. Nukara..

    Hmm.. ah yes.. and I'm looking forward to fly the D'deridex most as it's one of my favorite ships in the Trek Universe. Not to mention to being able to play a Rom.

    Ahh thank you! Then I don't have to use the one remaining slot that I paid for to make my Romulan later today....errr or maybe tomorrow when they get the servers back up...heh :eek:

    First thing I will do is delete one of my awful fed toons, and peek at the Romulans if I don't get a new free char slot. Then if I really like it debate getting new char slots now, or wait till Romulans are out of beta, and get some ships; if KDF ships out number yours, you know your lacking things.

    Of course biggest deal breaker will be if I see a non lockbox carrier for Romulans, till then I won't really do much more then play with my Romulan, between STF runs when I am burned out, or simply got nothing better to do.

    Now if it was a more interesting faction to me like Ferangi or well anything other then Romulans I would be ecstatic, but for now I want to see the changes to actual game more then the pointy eared volcun cousins.

    You clearly dont know how to play the D'Deridex then. It isnt meant to stand there toe to toe. It has a battle cloak for a reason. When you are cloaked, you move and turn faster, much faster. You are supposed to decloak, alpha strike, cloak, realign, decloak, alpha strike, cloak...rinse and repeat.

    Filling my last Four Character slots with Rommies, because I've wanted to play a Romulan since I first started playing STO, but had to settle for a Vulcan instead.

    Whet else will I be doing ? :

    I'll also be choosing traits for all nine of my current admirals and generals and pouring over patch notes for any tweeks I can make to builds and layouts.

    Choosing which alliances for my new Rommies, I'm thinking a 50/50 split so far, then

    I've gotta choose how many of what gender, liberated Borg, Reman ect. ect.

    I know I'll be exploring all the new Warp Core / Trait options on my Fed main, then get back to grinding Romulan Rep so I can unlock playable Remans. Plus I'll check out the Nimbus adventure zone.

    When I actually make my Reman, I'll be building it for the Fleet T'Varo Retrofit as some kind of stealth bomber. Something fun. If I don't end up liking the ship, I'll probably go and buy a D'Deridex. If gameplay is just that much better in the Romulan faction, it might end up becoming my main; I feel like I'll actually try PvP with this character (all the rest are PvE builds).

    I think we're getting a free character slot.

    I don't recall them promising that they'd offer more ships for Romulans. Besides, this is just the launch... who knows what other Romulan (or other faction) ships might be introduced in following seasons?

    i wonder when the content will be ready to download? i would rather download it as soon as possible to avoid problems later on. all im getting is 'unable to authenticate'.

    Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

    I never said I didn't do that - notice the part where I'm talking about using the cloak to move? And thanks for your knowledge of my play ability, but I think I can handle it. :)

    I just checkout new romulan abilities (shield heal etc etc) So sale strategy is goin on:)
    No I will NOT play on romulan side.Only maybe for dilithium farm...I'm happy with play on Fed side.Also I never like romulan ships:) They could be give some extra abilities I don't care anyway.

    On the other hand they could be ''Undine Faction''and it's could be soooo much better and interesting than Romulan anyway...

    These r my personal opinion of course:)

    Despite all of the Dev Blogs, interviews, news articles and patch notes that have been released, this is the one question I've had that still hasn't been answered.

    Something tells me everyone will get a free Rommie toon bc they previously gave everyone the free Klink toon and they've gone out of their way to say it's a free expansion. It wouldn't be exactly free if existing players had to fork over the cash to start their Rommie toon.

    Furthermore, I'm curious to see what happens to players like me that still have the free KDF slot open (I've been perfectly happy playing my single, original Andorian Engineer for a year and a half). Will we still be able to use it, just now from Level 1? If players don't automatically get a free Rommie toon slot, can we use the Klink toon slot for a Rommie? Will all new players get one toon for each faction, or will they only get one toon choice (losing the free KDF slot later on)?

    These are all important questions that I'm concerned and frankly shocked Cryptic hasn't addressed yet. I suppose we'll find out in another hour and a half or so.

    Ill be pretty pissed if my open slot gets used up. I have 3 with 2 used.

    Id better log in to four with 2 used or I will cancel my sub and go back to freebie.

    Not even nerd rage, its a financial question. I already pay for the game, I do not want to pay even more for something advertised as free. Hidden charges always irk the **** out of me.

    Another hour and a half? I thought maintenance schedule was to end at 12PM PDT and I live in PDT and that is just over 4 hours away from now as its 7:55am as I type this...:confused:
