Actually you get full access to all of the game content without having to sub at all! The lifetime sub just gives you some neat extra goodies that I find rather nice, but you do not need a sub at all to play all of the content in the game.
As it stands, all players (Silver, Gold, LTS) can play all mission content. There is no 'paywall' blocking you from that. Now if you want to do the content as a specific Race (Joined Trill, FED Klingon, Reman (When LoR Hits) for example), those you have to pay for.
Is it worth paying for a LTS? Maybe. There's a fair 'value' in it. But if you're thinking that buying a LTS will open up specific mission content, you'd be mistaken.
Thank you for the time...

Cryptic, would you actulaly like me to spend actual Money? It's Simple:
Full, Story-driven, select from start 1-50 Klingon Side
Scrap current Lock Box & Lobi system for something more reasonable
Expand Dil and Rep/Fleet Marks to regular story content
A Lifetime subscription is basically a GOLD subscription for a one time payment of $300 (before any type of sale.)
Everything that you get for being a subscriber is what you will get as a Lifetime Subscriber. The things you get in addition to this status is:
--The luxury of having all veteran rewards unlocked immediately.
--Liberated Borg captain option is unlocked for char creation.
--A couple unique costume options.
A lifetime sub is equivalent to roughly 2 years subscription time. If you love the game enough to KNOW you would subscribe to this game for 2 years then it may be worth it. If you think you could get that same enjoyment by being a F2P character and buying what you want from the C-store for less then keep that in mind too.
It is not a purchase to make at a whim, make sure it makes sense for you first. You can get ALMOST everything a subscriber gets by just playing the game. The things you may want faster you can typically buy in the C-store instead.

If you are talking about anything in the C-Store, or the Starter/legacy-packs: No...
You can see what you get here:

And the Veteran rewards: http://sto.perfectworld.com/community/veteran-rewards/
The game is free, all mission content is free regardless.
if you buy a lifetime sub, you get some extra perks, and items and things.

the stuff in the c-store are extra purchases that are independent of the lifetime.
And no, you don't.

Well personally I don't consider all those gimmick "content". They are add-ons... nothing more.
