Scheduled Maintenance (May 16, 2013)

Hi Captains,

We will be bringing down Star Trek Online tomorrow, Thursday, May 16th, at 7AM PDT (click here to view in your timezone) for maintenance and to restart the server -- there are no patch notes as there is no new patch being applied. We expect this maintenance to only last for 2 hours. The test server may also be unavailable during this time.

    I've got Holodeck and Tribble both patched up to date, however when I log out the launcher starts downloading a 9.8gb patch. Is this a pre-patch for Legacy?

    I also got the Pre-Patch, I didn't get 9.8Gs, mine is 5.5Gs, but still i am patching as we speak. And like the rest of all of use I can not wait until Legacy of Romulus :D

    I got a patch as well.. but its only 511mb... strange how it varies.

    9.8gb here but it keeps trying to patch it every time i leave the game.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
    Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

    Nope... Played the Beta, and I patched tribble as late as yestoday (before pre-patch was announced), and I still got the 9 gig patch.

    BUT... remember: You don't actually download 9 Gig... you just patch a total of 9 gig... The actual download is/was significantly smaller.
    Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

    I really hope you're not applying whatever patch was uploaded to Tribble after the open beta weekend. Since then, every time I try to patch Tribble, Win7 BSODs on me, about 20% into the patch.
    If this starts happening on Holodeck too, then I'm screwed untill Cryptic solves the problem.

    I don't get it. How big is this prepatch supposed to be?
    I got yesterday off and launcher started patching 5.8GB. I left it over night,
    Now i go off from sto and it starts patching again 5.8 GB.


    EDIT: second 5.8 GB patch finished quickly.

    Yea I played the beta, although there have been regular patches coming out recently. Hoping this makes the transition to live much easier then if it was a mass patch on release day.... I can see the server breaching rather quickly.

    Every time you log out now the game will try and patch again. It will start a new pre-patch, until the launcher recognizes that you already have the pre-patch and will stop. Depending on your computer speed this could take a few seconds to a few minutes.
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    I had my tribble patched up completely yesterday.

    It made a 9GB+ worth of prepatch files, system was running for 15-20 mins building those files, but the actual downloaded content was less than 200mb.

    The speed all depends on how fast your harddisk is, combined with system speed, and how fragmented your drive is where STO is installed.

    As long as your HDD is busy, it has not crashed or stalled, it just working with your local files.

    When Cryptic patches they don't mess around! I think that 9.8gb is bigger than the original game. ;-)
