Character Traits

In the new character creator I cannot find anywhere to customize the traits (I.e. Efficient Captain, Techie, Stubborn, etc...). Am I missing something or can we not choose these for ourselves anymore?

When you rank up you open new trait slots where you can slot new traits. You start with standard basic stuff for your species/career.

This, although personally I'd still like to choose first.

I agree, it would seem that we are actually losing some customization with the new Character Creation system. While the "Respec Traits" option provides one free shot at actually choosing your traits, I was rather disappointed by not actually being able to create my character from the start. This is especially bad where the Alien-Gen races are concerned, as every single Alien species has the exact same traits. I would suggest a Detail button that pops up the legacy UI such as with the Head, Body, and Uniform buttons in the Appearance section.

We're only losing customization at the very beginning of character creation. In anything but the short term we're gaining a plethora of customization by being given a bunch of new traits to select from and more traits to slot.

I still have issues between the Joined Trill and the Trill starter stats, Trill seems to get the better deal.

And I also like to know what happened to the 9th Trait that we had during the start of Closed Beta.

You are absolutely correct, but my main issue is that every single Alien species in the universe has the very same starting Traits. You can use your Respec Traits token to fix this after the fact, but it is still odd. I was merely referring to Character Creation, not the game as a whole.

Since I haven't seen an Official Legacy of Romulus Character Creation and Traits thread pop up from salamiinferno yet, I'll leave the other issue I've come across here as well.

I have noticed that the Traits behave like politicians. At Character Creation, they promise one thing, then on the in-game Traits tab they indicate a lesser benefit once you actually have those Traits. So far as I have been able to determine, it seems specific to Ground Traits; Space Traits seem to have their full promised effects.
    Example 1) Covert
Character Creation: +30% Stealth, +15% Exploit Damage
In-game Traits tab: +20% Stealth, +10% Exploit Damage
    Example 2) Plasma Weapon Specialist
Character Creation: +15% Plasma Energy Weapon Damage
In-game Traits tab: +10% Plasma Energy Weapon Damage
    Example 3) Resilient
Character Creation: +7.5 Physical/All Energy Damage Resistance Rating
In-game Traits tab: +5 Physical/All Energy Damage Resistance Rating
Actually, this is not behaving like a politician at all... there is no way a politician would fulfill a full 2/3 of what is promised!

Thanks to min/max'ing and the general imbalance between the Traits... is this really a change though? ;)
