I've now come back to STO (lifetime sub) after a rather long hiatus.
I'm keen on getting zen. Not only for the keys to unlock boxes, but for all the goodies they entail. I've so far done some promotional stuff via Peanut labs (including getting a Discover card for over 5000 zen - thank you very much).
Still, I've been looking for other means to acquire Zen... albeit not directly with cash.
I have plenty of points in American express or Amazon, but I can't seem to get Zen through either of those sources. If I did, I could use points to get zen.
If not directly via AMEX or Amazon, I'd love some more ways to get zen - particularly via a points system. This way I can get zen by making many purchases I would do so anyway.
Anyone know how I can zen via AMEX points or the like, do please let me know.
Zen can be earned in-game via Dilithium. You do missions that pay Dilithium and then sell the Dilithium for Zen on the Dilithium Exchange - current rate of around 130 Dilithuim for 1 Zen. There is no other way to get Zen other then buying it directly from Cryptic.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Now that's an interesting idea. People have cards that give them points for air miles, gas credits, and all sorts of other stuff. Why not have a card that gives game points when used? Granted there's a ton of logistics to be worked out for such a thing to happen, but I could see the merit in that. As of right now though you can't do that. If I were you though, I'd send off an email to PWE suggesting that. Can't hurt to suggest it even if it never happens after all.
Well, I agree that would be a bit too big. I doubt PWE would have the revenue steam to justify that.
What I do propose is for a means of allowing those with AMEX or Discover reward points to be able to use those points to in some way get zen. This can be as simple as selling Zen prepaid cards at Amazon.
(I had to bold that).
Right now, I don't know of a way to use any of my reward points to purchase zen.
I'll also say that Amazon is well set up for digital transactions already - offering an additional means of streamlining the process with no capital costs or infrastructure and manageable logistical considerations.
Oh one more thing, I do intend on making that request (selling cards on Amazon) directly to PWE when I get the time and get the email of the appropriate department.
If you convince them to take zen cards through amazon, I know a way to slowly get amazon gift cards for free. I used Bing rewards to buy microsoft points with the credits I earned, one of the rewards they have is amazon gift cards in 3 and 5 dollar amounts, I don't know what that would equate to in zen cards but if nothing else You can redeem the amazon gift cards for something else or choose one of the other reward options they have.

I'm not sure which subcategory you would use to suggest it to them, but all of the avenues for contact are on that page.
