I appreciate the desire for a tournament, but a full tournament and a quick, hour-long shuttle event with 2 timeslots that is casual for a weekly community event are two very different things I'm not opposed with helping support a tournament, but it's not something I can pursue at this exact moment in time due to various reasons.
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=
may we inquire to what those reasons may be?
since they are various, maybe just 1 or 2 of them might clue us in on why.... even if just a little bit.

Time, really. With the upcoming expansion, it leaves very little time, and if I am going to be helping plan/ sponsor/ run a tournament, I'm going to be fully invested in it. Unfortunately, I can not commit to that investment at this moment. I really want to, though! It's something we can hopefully revisit in the not too distant future. Imagine all the tasks I'm undertaking to prepare for Legacy of Romulus, plus all of my normal tasks:
As STO's Community Manager, my days find me acting as a bridge of information between the development team at Cryptic Studios, the publishing team at Perfect World, and the players. I'm the Web Content Manager for our website and social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.); I produce, edit and publish all news posts and blogs that go on the site (of course, the blogs that are written by said Devs are written by them); I capture and create most of the screenshots and some of the wallpapers you see on the site; I participate in and oversee our forums; I gather community feedback and share it through my reports to, and meetings with, the Devs; I create and run our Community events (in-game, forum, Foundry, etc.); I work with PR to schedule developer interviews and generate Press Releases; I am working on special projects that are on the publisher side (PWE), like the Foundry Spotlight, Referral Program and Facebook Connect; I work with our design team to create the Launcher Ads, as well as the art you see in the Web C-Store; I work closely with StarTrek.com to promote STO and post guest blogs; I work with the community to bring ideas and initiatives to fruition (e.g. PvP Boot Camp, the return of the Spotlight on the Foundry, an upcoming RP program, etc.); and much, much more.
So as the GM, it might be high time to utilize the other 90% of the ships in the game for a proper PVP tourney?
You mean like the foundry contests that Cryptic run? Or how about the litracy contests that Cryptic runs? Oh and not to mention the random "Let's go to Quarks and RP" evenings.
Fact up first.
Didn't read did ya? You just saw what you wanted to see... I said "personally involved"...

You can have the last word if you want cause I am done... Make it a good one... Don't troll me too bad ok?
I will be there for sure!:D It will be a blast to skirmish with you all. Great idea! We should do this at least 2 days a week. It is a great event to get the members of the STO community together and active.
I had posted a message asking how to change to your shuttle, however after asking around I found out that you can still change to your shuttle and fly in sector space.
For those of you who never noticed the new active ship and shuttle button on the starship UI interface like me, its simple. Go to a place where you select your active ship, and look at the bottom left of the UI. You will see 2 buttons, one for active ship and one for active small craft. Select the small craft one and you can fly that shuttle in sector space.
Hello, flyers, shuttlers, runabouters, and yachters! ^_^
I'll do my best to be there, in orbit of Bajor... if my laptop's memory dumping and its subsequent BSoD 'event' won't occur, of course. In other order of business, I'll be at ESD to trade some Captain and Rear Admiral uncommon and rare stuff for Rear Admiral lower half rare and/or very rare stuff. :P
P.S. Cease the bashing and trolling, get in your small crafts and fly!!!
Thanks to everyone who made it out to the event today! We had some pretty epic shuttle PvP matches, and it looks like everyone had a great time. I hope to see you all at the next event

Probably something to do with an expansion coming out in 2 weeks. Just a hunch.:rolleyes:
