So, who's gonna spend money on the new low-level KDF ships?

I am.

And I made this thread so that it's public, and whoever wants to post that they are also buying these, so that way they'll know...they'll know, it is I!! Baron, Vladimir Harkonnen!!! Who encompasses their doom!

*cough*...Sorry, got carried away.

But seriously, they'll know people are willing to buy KDF ships.

On a similar note, when they release the Fleet Guramba, I have no problems about buying the normal Guramba purely for the sake of getting the discount.

I'm willing to buy KDF ships, they just have to be willing to make them.

I'll be buying one for my own account and one for my son's account - as he wants to start over at 1 when the new KDF content comes out. That means I'll also be buying two copies of the T2 ships too. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

The Three Reason Why One Would Consider Purchasing A Low Tier C-Store Ship:

Cool/Fun Factor.. Extra firepower/abilities is never a bad thing. And of course.. You look good doing it.

Console.. Some console are restricted to specific hull or classes. Be aware! But all those low tier ships have a console or something that can be used elsewhere.. to your benifit.

Fleet Ship Discount! If you have the low tier version of a Fleet hull purchased, the fleet version will require ONLY a single fleet module to purchase. Suddenly makes those fleet ships not quite so painfull to aquire.

Incorrect, only T5 Z-Store ships have discounts

No way, I could care less for tier 1/2 ships as a Lifetimer being in game at least 2.5 years .

Sure, if they were tier 5? No doubt i would probably buy them just for the skin, but no... No low tier ships for me.

Two low level Birds of Prey. A tier 1, and a tier 2.

The new consoles can be used on other ships, but you cannot buy them on Tribble yet, just look at the ship stats.

However, a low tier version of a ship does NOT give the discount. Only if you have a tier 5 C-store version of a ship purchased (such as the b'rel retrofit), will you get the discount. Buying these new low tier ships won't help the higher tier costs I'm afraid.

Only if the Fleet version comes out right away, which I will by.

Only reason I will buy the new ships out of the C-store is if I can use their parts on the T5 equivalent, like the Bri'loth/B'rel. Cosmetics are what I'm after.

I don't need new special consoles, I already have so many floating around that I never use them.

It's almost certain that I will be picking up some of the lower tiered ships and starting a new KDF toon to play in them with.

Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

    well, it depends.
I might be inclined to buy the T2 version as a skin assuming we get a Fleet Qul'dun with a 4th science slot.

Yep, I'm more of a cruiser captain, but lately the BoPs are growing on me really fast. And that B'rotlh looks sweet. It reminds me of why I like Klingon ships so much. :D
I'll be getting the other one as well, out of respect for having 2 C-Store KDF additions in a long time and the KDF being able to start at lvl 1. Hopefully her console will be nice and usefull as well. :)

I will likely purchase them purely to support KDF content.

Dark Lord of the game GEKO has stated on many occasion that the biggest reason that he won't give the KDF better ship support is because no one buys them.

If we ever want to see better 3 pack KDF tier 5 ships or even improved fleet versions of the rest of our existing ships then we all better buy them.

Depending on the price, I will probably pick them up for the consoles. I like to have lots of options :)

The Shield Destabilizer sounds like the leech but for shield strength.

Yeah, that shield console is going to be quite unpopular once the Feds start getting tagged by it. As for buying the ships myself, i doubt i will be doing that. I really don't like a lot of what cryptic is doing lately (not just in STO), so i might be on a brief hiatus once i plow through LoR.

I mainly buy high Tier ships, as that is where I can make the most out of them now. I will wait to see what all their options are first before I buy.

I'm still waiting for the K'Vort.

Lower tier ships are a lot more fun to fly and play with than any of the tier 5 ships.

    Same here.

Now that I've got my Vesta on the Fed side, I'll be giving serious consideration to buying more KDF (and Romulan) ships.

As someone who still owns a K'Tanco, I wonder if I will have it unlocked? And maybe some of the other low tier ships as well, if they are still the same.

honestly, I depends on how they do it. For the most part, I am not a fan of buying low tier ships. There just isn't the same incentive as Tier 5 ships. This is pretty much the same for FED, KDF or even ROM ships.

I just can't justify buying a ship that I will outgrow in a day or so. This is why I waited a long while to buy the NX class. Why I still haven't forked over the money for the Starter Pack and the Tier 1 T'varo. I have no doubt it will be the same with the KDF.

I love the KDF, I loved it before we had the complete experience we are getting at the launch of Legacy of Romulus. Once, I reroll a KDF so I can start from level 1, I will no doubt get to level 50 and get the B'rel Retrofit (Loves me some canon ships). but I doubt I will get any low level ships.

Depends on what consoles come with the ship or if a T5/fleet version will be available which would offer more customization options.

    Still hoping for a T5 K'tanco...

I bought a couple KDF ships for this exact reason and I may do so with these.

It looks like the universal consoles for these ships are:
    Shield Destabilizer
    Enhanced Induction Coils

I can kinda guess what the Shield Destabilizer does - probably an effect similar to DEM. Anyone know what Enhanced Induction Coils do?

Shield Destabilizer acts as a debuff to shield strength, both in resist, and shield power to anyone affected by it. I think it is an AoE if I remember the text right.

Enhanced Induction Coil is the statistical opposite of the Enhanced Plasma Manifold off the Oberth. Meaning that instead of Shields and Aux, it boosts Weapons and Engines.

The last low tier ship I bought was the Defiant for my Lv 30 tac officer. Main reason why I get the new look and the Quad Cannons. So I can use that later for my T5 Defiant I plan on buying as well. So I can use the look if I want. And the Quad Cannons level with you. So I will make good use out of them. Granted its a "gimmick" in a way. But its not the Defiant without the 4 pulse cannons being fired. So I had to have it. This is more likely the last time I will buy a low Tier ship that you will only use for a few levels. Unless its a look I really want. I thought of the other Galaxy look only at low Tier. And use that on a future Galaxy project. But that is something later on if I get around to it. I'm after the Excelsior next, and seeing what the Romulans offer.

I only buy low-level C-store ships to get access to the consoles. MAYBE I'll use 'em a couple of times if I'm leveling a new character, but I'm not a chronic character-leveler. . .so there's not a lot of call for that.

I am tempted by both these consoles if they are useful at end game play, I still need to pick up the warp jump ship for my 4 KDF toons, and perhaps the vent theta as well. Especially what with me making at least 1 Romulan toon to join my KDF fleet.

I haven't purchased any KDF ships other than fleet ships as I normally doff level toons, but l'll legitimately level my Romulan toon so having some consoles for her BoP to go with those from the cross faction lock boxes I have put aside would be fantastic.

I also hope there are fleet versions of these ships at some point as well.
