Now first off, the bigger thing thats missing is more Romulan Science ships, that's a given and there are other topics about that, but another thing thats missing is a true Romulan carrier.
The obvious option is the Scimitar, especially considering in Nemesis itself it was shown have huge flight decks with Scorpion Fighters. And lets be honest, the Scimitar is most likely coming to the cstore at some point, but personally i'd also like to see an escort carrier, maybe a fleet version of the Dhelan.
So anyway these are my thoughts and just wondering if anyone else here feels the same. Personally i'll be enjoying flying around in my mogai and tvaro but i'm going to miss my pets and would love to see romulans get a carrier soon.
Basic thoughts on stats, and i've added fleet science versions to both because science toons need some love. and since the fleet dhelan was engineering based i made a engineering based carrier version.
Scimitar type true carrier, similar to the jem'hadar dread
4 fore 4 aft
41,000 hull
1.05 shield mod
2 Hanger Bays
3000 Crew
3 Device Slots
5 Turn rate (maybe 5.5 or 6)
Impulse 0.17
+10 Weapons
+10 Aux
Consoles:
basic: 4 tac 3 eng 2 sci
fleet version:
standard: 4 tac 3 eng 3 sci
science version: 4 tac 2 eng 4 sci
Science version switches commander tac to sci and lt sci to tac
Escort Carrier, based off of the Dhelan and armitage. basing it off the Dhelan because it seems more like a possible carrier to me verses toe mogai. To be honest, a brand new design would be even better.

Both really good points. a talshair lockbox could easily be the scimitar, but at the same time i do agree that that probably wouldn't be something cryptic/cbs would want in a lockbox for fed/kdf.
making the scimitar like the oddy/bort would make sense, but that might be a little overkill if it's a carrier too which it should be, even though we didn't see it launch the fighters it obviously could.
as far as the lockbox, it probably will be a new ship, maybe one of the new alien ones, that would actually make sense considering the aliens are working for them, and it would make it a non faction ship sorta like the rest of them other than the temporal ships.

I realize the Romulan Republic uses a pretty standardized navy of Warbirds, but who's to say they can have a few exotic ships of strictly Reman design floating about - a bit like the Atrox, Kumari or D'kyr mixed in with Starfleet? Reman-specific designs seem especially viable when you've got Obisek rallying a 'freedom force' against the Tal Shiar.

didn't even think of that. absolutely yes. would be awesome to have some reman designs and not just reskins of romulan.
though thinking about it technically isn't the scimitar a reman ship?
Theres a TalShiar lock box in the game files... I think the Scimitar will be the major reward from it.
Please no but I could see the new alien race ships being in there they are awesome, and they could have a singularity core and battle cloak. They are shown to have cloak in game, and I have seen some abilities they use that look like singularity abilities.
But they are ovibously saving scimitar for c-store carrier, it will probably be 4 front and 2 or 3 aft weapons. I'm thinking a tact commander sci or engi lt cmdr. I hope sci lt cmdr, the turn rate might be 4.5 or something... Two hanger bays with special scorpions fighters . I also hope its 3 set with consoles that synergize giving more stealth and turn rate, maybe with final ability for full thalaron attack.
Stahl has said constantly that the Scimitar would be for the romulan faction and never a lockbox ship. Also in interviews they've asked stahl about the scimitar being a 3 pack and he said maybe. Which knowing cryptics new marketing of ships has been 3 pack 3 pack 3 pack 3 pack. So it'd be for romulan faction and a 3 pack. Yeah I can see it being a carrier, but I'd love it to have 5/4 or 5/5 weapons and have a turn rate of 2. That someone suggested in game chat. lol
Also in the video on romulan page it shows the dehlan with scorp and those cyclops shuttles around it so probably at one point they were going to make it a carrier.

dear god. a 2 turn rate. all of a sudden the Odyssey seems like a gokart lol
Looking back on Romulan history they have never seemed to use carriers, however I peronally think a Z Store one will be released, and maybe from a story story perspective carriers would be a more cost effective way of defending the Republic than trying too maintaina group of larger ships.
Looking back on Romulan history they have never seemed to use carriers
Yeah? Neither did the KDF and they launched with a carrier.
Personally, I think a carrier with a tac heavy boff layout and a 4/4 weapon layout seems a mite too powerful. I think it would be better if the carrier had a Tac/Sci mix similar (but not the same as) the Mogai. Weaponry should also be limited to 6 or 7 weapons as well. I actually think 6 weapons would be bset, but to inject some newness into things, make the weapon layout 4/2, so the broadsides will end up beaing with the same power, but the frontal damage will exceed many other carriers.
They would never make it lower then 4 turn lol, in fact i don't think there is one below 5...
The D'dex on tribble had turn rate base of 2 for a while until they upped it to 5 or 5.5. So it did exist for a few patches lol.
Not too sure about the tal shiar box maybe it will give us that Tal Shiar's guy flagship the one in mind game mission. Stahl said the lockbox wouldn't be romulan, but if it is tal shiar lockbox I guess it kind of doesn't qualify as regular romulan race...
Honestly the only reason I can see the Scimitar being in the lockbox (other than it being a good candidate) is that if its in the lock box they can give it a toned down version of the Thalaron blast that the NPC ships have. I cant ever see that power becoming a CStore purchase.
Its a faction ship, moment it goes Lock Box they are admitting the Romulans are not a faction or that faction ships can get lock box.
Also its absurd to go about the Cascading Biogenic Pulse since it have a huge startup time, make the ship immobile, its telegraphs it area of attack and of course, it can always be toned down to be in line with other "power" like the Phaser Lance or Isometric Charge.
Its only a issue for NPCs that likely will just not evade it on purpose but that goes both ways, if they leave the AoE its not as if you could actually move.
The lockbox is a faction lockbox. And I think the Romulans stopped being a faction the moment it was decided that they would ally with either the Feds or the KDF. Also, I dont think the Romulan Republic has been seen operating Scimitars.
The difference between the NPC and PC versons of the phaser lance/isometric charge is that the NPC versions arent one shot kills... the thalaron weapon is. I dont see a weapon of that magnitude (or even half that magnitude) being available on the CStore at all.
Also, I dont think the Romulan Republic has been seen operating Scimitars.
The azure nebula you are rescuing ships for the romulan republic. Those scimitars are the romulan republic's scimitars.

Umm Cryptic would do it. The wing cannon overload console is a 1 shot and hits multiple targets. It also depends on the players you are facing but I've alpha'd the wing cannon overload on the kumari and killed 2 players with one hit. Overload can get 30k-121k damage the 121k was crit. And the Tholaron blast in Khitomer killed me with a 108k damage. So the Wing cannon overload is stronger than tholaron blast and it doesn't lock you into not moving. Though you can't use buffs while it is charging which is why you pre buff then use it.
Stahl has said the scimitar ship is reserved for romulan faction so I doubt it is in lockbox. Plus the missions we've seen have only been 1-21 content for Romulan faction and later content that gets farther along in the timeline we may have story missions that show scimitars in direct use. Also the fleet reinforcements from embassy it allows you to summon a romulan republic scimitar to help in fleet actions.
You can usually escape the tholaron blast except when it instant fires instead of regular charging up it's supposed to do. Which cryptic will most likely make sure player version doesn't do that. So long charge up time where you can't use any buffs and move, and you have 0 defense from not moving. Escorts can run around and shoot ya in the butt. Plus npc versions of the ship have poor turn rate and so Scimitar will probably be 2 turn rate. Which will require a ton of rcs consoles.
You'd be more likely to kill another player with the wing cannon overload console than the tholaron blast.
I doubt that, personally. Figure the Scimitar ends up a 3pack ala Ody/Bort. They wouldn't want to give the Scim to Feds/KDF....
And what would be the diff?
Romulans ally with either FED or KDF, they open lockbox, boom, instant Scimitar.
The main difference, is that there's a possibility of an actual FED or KDF Captain, piloting a Scimitar, rather than a Romulan or Reman Captain.
But no, I do not believe the Scimitar will be a lockbox ship. All lockbox ships so far, have been either faction neutral, or have a faction-specific equivalent depending on who opens the box (Temporal ships).

CBS said no to letting feds and kdf pilot romulan ships, but yes with romulans piloting their allies's ships. So no if feds and kdf were going to get access they would've, but they didn't so no.

Yeah faction neutral so if there is a talshiar lockbox it isn't part of the romulan republic faction or fed faction or kdf faction. So technically a Talshiar box could happen if it gives us Tal Shiar only ships or their allies the elachi. Those ships look nice. Still want that Tal Shiar ship from the Mind Game mission (^_^)
But no, I do not believe the Scimitar will be a lockbox ship. All lockbox ships so far, have been either faction neutral, or have a faction-specific equivalent depending on who opens the box (Temporal ships).
And prior to the temporal ships all non-mirror ships were neutral, and a fair number of people were making virtually the same argument for the Wells not being in those.
It would be interesting if the Scimitar dropped for all factions, but only equip-able on Romulans. Would be interesting to see trades on those, or perhaps would push people to roll a Romulan anyway.
Now first off, the bigger thing thats missing is more Romulan Science ships, that's a given and there are other topics about that, but another thing thats missing is a true Romulan carrier.
I doubt it's missing completely, and there are most likely plans to put one in the C-store.
I'm sure it's not lost on Cryptic (they have their metrics, afterall) that this is a popular ship class type, and rather than offer it for free they can generate solid sales out of such a C-store launch.
They'd be negligent not to capitalize on that, as adeptly as they have capitalized on it Fed side.

Not many other ships that could go with that lock box...

The Vesta has a hangar, and it is a 3-pack ship.
true and i own that, how did i forget lol. guess cause i was just comparing with the oddy and bort.
3 pack would be good for it though to get tac/sci/eng versions and the romulan side really does need more variety.

also carriers are very star treky. You see one in each episode *facepalm*
they also should add some Goauld ships
Considering the C-Store is disabled on Tribble (and has been since Redshirt was turned on), what do you think?
