its the vengeance, since it is a ship from another universe, and not too mention it is not CBS can cryptic have this black ship? does or would cryptic have to get permission from paramount? cryptic already has the star trek licence. im not sure how the legalality works but it would be cool to have that ship. make it a reward for doing an awesome mission that cryptic makes. like for season 8 or 9.

CBS and Paramount were more or less the same entity at the time of Nemesis (2002); they split in 2006. So, anything made since the split is not covered by the licence from CBS.
Haven't got a good look at it to now, almost looks like the STO Excalibur with a bit of the Legoprize mixed with it (those been here since Beta know what I mean).
Anyhow, it's been said many times by now but STO is never going to see anything more from the new Star Trek movies outside what we got already. Honestly, be a miracle if they manage to get approval to add the Kelvin which technically should exist in this timeline as well.
no, no, no! What part of not part of the license OR from an alternate timeline don't you get?
Not to mention that the JJ Enterprise is 2x as big as the 1701, and that black ship is 2x as big as the JJ one, by the looks of it. So you're talking about a huge freakin ship; probably around 1200+ meters long.
I know a bunch of people who put the Red Matter Capacitor on their Galaxy-X Dreadnaught. I used mine on my Olympic for awhile. Though these days I use it on my Mirror Universe Star Cruiser.
See what I did there?
In 2005 Viacom divided into CBS Corporation, whose CBS Television Studios subsidiary retained the Star Trek brand, and Viacom, whose Paramount Pictures subsidiary retained the Star Trek film library and rights to make additional films, along with video distribution rights to the TV series on behalf of CBS.

Indeed, JJ's need for "moar shuttles!" be damned. And what is this "red matter" people speak of? I've never heard of it, I doubt something so stupidly named could ever exist. You can't convince me otherwise.
Admiral Dananra Lekall - R.R.W. Teverresh, Deihu-class Warbird
General J'Kar son of K'tsulan - I.K.S. Dlahath, Vo'devwl-class Carrier
Still doesn't mean Cryptic has a license to it, which trumps any and all arguments for or against.
I don't know if it would even be worth it for them to try to buy the rights, as the community is so divided between like, meh, and frothing hatred for JJ's Trek.
Given the spoilers I heard about the ending of the new movie, I think the Star Trek community is going to be up in arms.
Now I understand why JJ called it "Into Darkness", because while he's playing with Jedi, the Star Trek community will be in the darkness not knowing what's to come.
Of course your thread title is much more misleading.
besides, the thread in ten forward is about the ship existing. im discussing the possibility of the ship coming to star trek online.
and i just got used to the 2009 movie design and started to like the design choices... but this one?
nope that just looks bad... not only from a design point of view, but it is so obvious a pure CGI Ship... it just doesn't look real to me. ...not in this picture anyway.
and why do enemy ships in Star Trek movies always have to dwarf the Enterprise?
Ships can be small and deadly too ...Defiant!
The size only makes it harder to miss while firing at it.
It did not have its debut in the 2009 movie, but in the "Countdown" comics to which Cryptic has a license.
Stuff that appeared outside the "Countdown" comics can't be used.
Back on topic, I don't like the look of the black ship, it's very angular and looks like someone had thier polygon count reduced a lot. Now the Enterprise from the J.J. Abrams universe, that I would like as a skin, it looks very good but again most Trek fans will be grabbin ole forky and making lynch mobs. Though I know it's very unlikely to come to STO.
It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.

Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.
Well, where should I start? He wrecked Romulus in the prime timeline for the sole purpose of giving his villain a crappy motivation to blow up planets. That haunts STO and it will haunt any potential new series that would be set after Nemesis.
He wrecked Vulcan in his timeline just as casually as Lucas offed Alderaan. The difference: We KNEW (and loved) Vulcan.
The plot was a crappy mess. He actually needed a prequel comic to explain the Romulan mining ship that was wrecking everything that got into its path and didn't look Romulan at all. Nero vanished from the Galactic timeline for decades, just so Kirk could grow up to oppose him. I could go on and on about the replacement of morals with lens flare etc. but I already feel my blood pressure rising to dangerous levels, I'm going to stop before I leak plasma coolant.
Sometimes, if you want to bury the hatchet with a Klingon, it has to be in his skull. - Captain K'Tar of the USS Danu about J'mpok.
I'm in this boat. If not for the movies, I probably would never have gotten into Star Trek at all. It was because of the JJ flick that I decided to watch the show. I'm currently on Season 2 of ENT and soon will have watched all of the shows and movies.
People are diehard fans and I get that. I just wish they'd understand that just because something is differet (bad, great, whatever), doesn't mean it ruins the original.
And I like the Vengence ship design as well, again it's a fresh perspective. It's almost like what a proper mirror ship should be like, built like a brick wall and ready for a scrap.
I don't know about a new ship, but if perhaps a new bonus skin based on the ship for the assault cruiser came along I'd use it. Won't happen of course with licences and everything, but it's a thought.
