The name of the event is "Crystalline Catastrophe" probably referring to the huge Crystalline thing taking up most of the area hurling Death Bolts at everyone.
How about shooting at that thing, that can heal itself by the way so that every Tholian people chase down makes it stronger.
You can always go to Tau Dewa to chase Tholians around.
There's only 3 waves of tholians. The initial wave, the 66% wave and the 33% wave. Not attacking the tholians let's them keep shutting off your weapons forcing you to use engineering team instead of the DPS buffing tactical team. You need someone to fight the tholians, not necessarily everyone, but you do need bodies to keep them busy while you shoot the crystal.
Oh, and kill the small crystal shards. If you kill them before they make it back to the entity it won't heal. Also, if you kill the large crystal shard before it gets close to a ship, it won't spawn small crystal shards to start with.
Ignorance is an obstacle not an excuse
Let the stupid suffer
I kill most of the Tholians on my way to the shard for the first wave.
Then when the Entity stops taking damage I clean out any remaining plus the 2nd wave.
When the Entity is damagable I hit that again until it either is dead of stops taking damage in which case I polish off Tholians.
They are there to distract, don't let them succeed. There is plenty of time to cap them when the Entity stops taking damage.
I did not know that about the small shards, thank you for the info. Part of my attack cycle is Cannon Scatter Volley so I just have been aiming for the highest concentration when it cycles.

If I recall correctly, they changed the small shards so that they add damage resistance instead of the HP heal they used to have, so they're not as big of a threat, but still annoying. Without the small shard heals, the big guy doesn't heal as good as the old one. I haven't had any trouble with teams not being able to deal enough damage to kill it. My pet peeve is the people who don't know about the absorption phases and just keep shooting, even though all their damage goes to the entities energy wave attack and doesn't hurt the entity.
It still deals 1 damage! Lol people who sit there during absorption are either just too lazy to move or think they're a badass because they can eat the energy blast.

Except kinetic hits still do damage during that phase, and destructible projectiles won't get shot down by the CE's FAW attack. Good time for tric bombing. Plus once they eat the absorption discharge, they get the points for healing up. There's a method to the madness.

There's also if you break target lock to stop firing in a ship with sensor analysis you lose your damage bonus. Of course, you can just disable weapons or run out of range during that time but for some reason most people choose not to do this.
Also when you got often hit from the big Shards they break your Shields and deals alot kinetic Damage,so try to change your Position a bit, to find a Spot where the big Shards are
not so many present.
During the Break Phases shoot the Tholians and finish to kill them.
If you not kill the Tholians, and you continue the Fire to the Crystaline Thing after the break Phase so you got the attention from them too, they fire in your back or Sides so it is more dangerous than.
In most case your Front Shield are the weak Point in this Mission, so make sure that you often use Tactical Team and distribute always your Shields, what it is easy to make when you use Keybinds. If your Hull Regeneration is to slow than try to use in this Mission a
Monotanium Alloy Armor that helps alot against kinetic Damage.
So also check out Hilbert Guide for Keybinds.
Than you have all most important abelities incl. the Shield Disributation on the space Bar Key.
This helps you much for both PVP and PVE.

After a certain time the Stardust starts even to think.
Is that not fantastic?

It still heals. Just not as fast. I was unfortunate enough to be in one today where people started jumping ship for some reason.... also one of them kinda sucked... he let his ship get hit by shards..... oy...
Eventually there came a point where I looked around and realized that I was the only one still fighting and the CE was back up to 100%....
another useful thing to remember: Don't give up. The only way to "fail" is to have people jump ship and quit.
