"No Registration Required" *Not True* when trying to buy LOR

feefyfeefy Member Posts: 34 Arc User
Ok, this is very frustrating and a bit ridiculous considering. I use credit cards for my online purchases and avoid using 'services' like Moneybookers and PayPal simply because they add on unnecessary and borderline illegal 'currency conversion' surcharges on every transaction I make with my Mexican credit card. This usually incurs a flag from my bank and the transaction is declined automatically.

I'm coming back to the game after a long hiatus and haven't had any problems in the past (pre-PWE) buying stuff for STO: I am a lifer after all and I've bought Cryptic Points before. But now, trying to buy the pre-order pack or even zen for the game and I'm hit with a PayPal or Moneybookers roadblock where I cannot make my purchase using my credit card without having to open an account with one or the other. This is after seeing "*No registration required." on both options on the buy page. If this is the case; well, it was nice coming back for the little bit I was here; but if its going to be a huge hassle to actually give you guys my money; well, I'm out again.

    having the SAME problem

Cryptic, PLEASE, let us use the Credit Card on this one, same as when buying the LFT.

Or at least let us use Google checkout, Amazon or eps online?berweisung.

No way i am putting myself in business with Moneybookers or paypal. They ****ed up my data more than once already.

like, really, i want to give you credit you for the legacy pack, but if you do not let me, ill just go with the 20k of Zen i already have on the account. Afterall, it is not an EUR 5 transaction!

This may, or may not be true... not a user myself, so I can't decided.

But Theres another issue: Where I am, Paypal is not common... at all, hence it makes no sense for me to make an account for just one purchase.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Just purchased the smaller LoR pack using their paypal link. Did not have to log in or register with paypal to do so.

As per Branflakes, you do not have to be a Paypal account holder to use Paypal for transactions. You can log in as a guest and pay that way. I cannot say what fee you may incur, or what the currency exchange rate is for your own money but mine was pretty much normal for pounds to euros.

I don't blame anyone for not wanting to use paypal, I've seen them confiscate money from so many vendors, and completely TRIBBLE up service charges to people, admitting their mistake and then telling you flat out they won't refund it.

I kan see how that would be a problem. You have to account for other Country's Rules&Regulations... even on their Banking systems and/or financial transactions.

I kno there was a German located game I played awhile ago and I kouldnt use their pay system without some "bug" happening sense I was in the US.

The wife and I hate paypal. Neither of our banks like paypal and getting anything to work with them is a test in ones sanity.

If you pay with a CC through PayPal there is zero fee and you do not have to create a PayPal account.

elessym probably means there is no 'fee' per se for using Paypal. But there can be one for currency exchange/etc. Depending on the CC/location I'm at, I've seen 'zero' fees as well as Yen/USD conversion rates (that are quite a bit higher than the typical banking rate). I try to use CC/banks that are in the US for that reason. No sense in paying an extra 1-3%.

If you're residing in the US or EU, or are using a CC from a bank that's used to and supports Paypal... there shouldn't be a problem.

Still, there's time for Cryptic to change a few things. I'd like to see other options including Steam Wallet or perhaps even players' existing zen.

I'm surprised they didn't include Google Checkout or Amazon. I won't touch the current two options myself.

If PayPall or Skril are my only options for this, I'll wait for the C-store releases where I can buy Zen via people I actually trust.

Canada, actually, and I use a credit card without a paypal account for Zen all the time. No fees thrown at me ever for doing so.

When I was looking into opening a PayPal account around the D3 release, it was readily obvious that I'd want to open a bank account dedicated solely to it as well. Too many horror stories about 6-12 month account lockouts due to billing problems. OP has a point, too, about added fees, which apparently aren't applicable to US users.

If you have PWE cards available in any local retailers those are also an option, you just pay for it at the store and then use it directly on the PWE website to get your zen.

I have yet to see the $20 cards that are advertised however, but buying 2 $10 cards instead isn't a big deal.

    PCgamesupply.com sells $10, $20, and $25.00 cards online.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

People are gonna hate me *flame suit activated* But I use bank of America and have been a member there since according to them "1980" a minor TRIBBLE up they did with my birth year and join date but I kinda dig it I have 100% free checking with ZERO fee's that everybody has been talking about *knocks on wood* and I use PayPal several times each month and each transaction even though it is a little slower to go through my bank has gone smoothly:D

Although I wish eBay and other company's had a "you are an idiot and you will never use that thing you are about to buy" option when checking out:D
